I have worked in high end HiFi for about 18 years now, My equipment consists of a Yamaha R-N2000A Amp, Yamaha CD player and a pair of Triangle Borea 9 Speakers. I suggest you buy exactly what I wrote, you won't be disappointed !

For the best sound quality you should put the subby right up beside the turntable and find a more light-weight table, preferably with a wobbly leg

I'm not going to get into your choices in equipment but the way you set it up. You have the turntable and DVD player on basically the same shelf as the speakers, one speaker nearly touching the turntable. That setup has to feedback on the cartridge at most any decent listening level. If you cannot move the electronics away from the speakers, put the dustcover back on the turntable and place a heavy blanket , towel, or something over the dustcover to reduce feedback. Try it, it won't cost you anything.

No one should ever put you speakers on the same furniture as the.... record deck, or any other piece of hifi equipment

find another location for those speakers tho'. being on same foundation as turntable is no bueno in hifi. also, acrylic platters don't require mats.

Free upgrade, place turntable and speakers on different shelves. Vintage Pioneer turntable, very nice. By the way, the only thing lossy about your system is the iPod. Highest res is the turntable.

Does your system make you happy? Does it get you emotionally engaged? If so, that’s all you need

Surround sound, especially dpl, is best for movies and video. Dump the center channel and run the system in stereo mode only. Try not to corner the speakers either. Nice setup overall. Keep shopping at thrift stores and 2nd hand shops for upgrades. Even if it’s just better cables.

Those SONY speakers look much better than mine! My speaker are the SONY SS-CS3 tower speakers and they kind of suck with audio quality. My BOSE 301 Series IV speakers from 1996 sound better than those tower speakers in all honesty.
