What makes it so tragic was that this is based off true events The real "Seita" wrote a short story as a way to help cope with his feelings over the situation and change a few parts of the story. But most of it was true. And the ending of the story was EXACTLY how it happened in real life (including all of the dialogue.)

I saw this in the theatre when it came out. Those fake ads & trailers to establish the characters seriously fooled me for longer than I care to admit, coming after about 20 minutes of actual ads & trailers. BTW - was that RDJ (as Lincoln Osiris) doing the voiceover on the Booty Sweat ad? I can't believe this film got made - but I'm so glad it did. They really bit the hand that feeds them, yet showed that they realize the ludicrous nature of their profession. It's a love letter to Hollywood - fully acknowledging all the quirks, flaws and absurdities, but still a love letter.
