I hope you're still DM'ing, I'm running Waterdeep Dragon Heist right now and your videos have been incredible. I came to RUclips to look for ideas on running it and it's like there are two types of videos: Full play session videos, and people reviewing the whole thing. You're the only one I've found that have recapped sessions and talked about the experience as DM. It's great content. I'm bummed you've stopped uploading, but really appreciate the videos you did back in the day!

I’m confused about why/how this event happens as I haven’t found anything about it in the book. Im only on chapter 3 but you have done this before the fireball so i’m very confused 😅

We ran this adventure and Trollskull Manor became my character’s (Bard) main focus. I won over Leif by cleaning every morning and talking to him about plans to renovate the inn. Our DM did pretty much what you described and we renamed the inn “Leif’s Rest” in his honor. We spent a lot of roll play on it and it has carried us through into Dungeon of the mad mage (along with much of the plot from Dragonheist.)

this is why i prefer splat books to adventures. dont get me wrong, adventures are cool too. but you shouldn't have to buy and (maybe ruin) a adventure for yourself to find out more about the city

I just finished my second watch through today. I love Calamity. It is no contest my favorite actual play series. The characters are fleshed out, the world building is incredibly believable, and I'm a goddamn sucker for tragedy.

I think it needs better flavor then just coming from the celestial plane.

WotC books are extremely bad compared to indie releases, especially OSR stuff. The layout is miles better. I honestly can't read through any of the WotC books anymore, it just always feels like a chore.

1. I don't know how Storm Kings Thunder is doing so well. Kinda shocked! 2. Icewind Dale may require more work as a regional adventure but I liked it's flexibility more than any other. It was the first one that I read all the way through. 3. Witchlight was one of the best selling books of all the adventures (sorry I forget who but someone official said that) part of the reason is that many encounters can be handled with no violence. Very original for a D&D campaign. 4. Annihilation and Strahd - I was expecting those to be at the end.

spell jammer was poorly written and lacking in rules for ship combat and movement.

I agree it’s not worth giving PCs too many options. DM should suggest quests and help PCs make a decision. I don’t like sandbox campaigns. I would rather DM or play in campaign that has clear goals/campaigns

I'm running this campaign as a brand new DM and brand new D&D player and this gave me confidence that I'm headed in the right direction as far as the story prep goes!

In a 7min video titled "How to Run DnD," spending the first 3 minutes telling an anecdote of how YOUR party got TO THE QUEST ITSELF is an incredibly dull waste of time that showcases a remarkable lack of self-awareness. I don't care -at all- about what YOUR party did. I'm looking for suggestions for how to make the quest fun for MY party. Hate cc's like you.

I had my guts ripped out, blended, sieved, and then frozen roughly into their original shape, shoved back into my body, sewn back up and then gut punched so I can feel them shatter inside me.

In my group's Curse of Strahd campaign my character, Zelda Alagondar, is one of the last surviving members of the Alagondar royal family. We were able to defeat Strahd very early into the campaign so our DM had us eventually escape Barovia and end up in Neverwinter. Upon the party's arrival the people of Neverwinter were shocked to see my character alive and well. Because they recognized me as the heir to Neverwinter, the party was taken to Castle Never where Zelda briefly reconnected with her mother and brother before the queen fell mysteriously ill. We were able to stay in Castle Never until Zelda's brother got jealous of her and disinherited her and taking the throne. As of now in the campaign, the party is camping in the Neverwinter woods. There is a sorta game of thrones between Zelda, her brother and Strahd going on and I am eager to see how her story continues.

I played and mine was going to be manshoon but it ended up switching to xanathar turned out okay wasnt fully ready for a swap but its how it ended uo

This might not help you now but this video is very quiet. my usual volume is -2dB, a quiet video would be +2dB, you're on +12dB (max) i barely hear anything.

Get ready for good one! I am the DM and have not been the DM ever before. Also, I have never played DND. Yes, totes newbie!! However, I have worked at many festivals dressed as a faerie professionally and voluntarily and worked at many Ren Faire's as a Corsetiere so the roll play aspect is already there. However, I have books and watch lots of RUclips videos and am still overwhelmed and feel like I am procrastinating. Some one shove me off of the cliff so I can trust my dragon enough to catch me.

More questions! What kind of incentives are you giving to these players to join the various factions? Im trying to figure out how id actually SELL it. Is this info in the book? Trying to track a copy down

How much of the overview do you tell your players? Do you just give them info on waterdeep before starting? What about the stone? Or do you just let them stumble into it from the fireball incident and explain along the way? Sorry if you explain in future videos, im watching through now :P

We got lucky. Ì set up the dock ward encounter expecting that was where they were going, but they headed northeast from Trollskull right out of the gate with the nimblewright detector. They are almost at the chase now, so if that sort of situation is ever going to happen, it will happen there.

Ive ran dragonhiest before but I want to run it again because I feel I did not fully have a grasp of it the first time I ran it. I know this video is a bit old but this seems like a really amazing channel. I hope the rest of your videos are just as great as this.

I actually think this is a great way to justify a wide range of anthropomorphic characters into a campaign. I have at some point wanted to play a werewolf or shifter type of character and this is a new alternative to that. Also there will always be new players to d&d who might not have a "Tolkien-based" idea of what classic fantasy races consist of. I am not an Elder Scrolls fan but this seems like a similar looking fantasy world aesthetic. Or maybe this is all slightly influenced by fellow WotC family Magic: the Gathering races like Loxodon. To me this is just a nice furry-catch-all side of the coin where the other side was the emo-demon-boy/girl Tiefling. Also, does anyone else think of the Starfox characters when picturing this race?
