Remember Kids... When getting pepper spray, take a cloth with 4 drops of Dawn Soap... It has an oil cutter in it, but I know why they do it. I'm a former jailer, I've had that training myself.

This is outstanding work, fascinating insight into the training and development process. The statements delivered by the recruits regarding the 6 pillers at the end is very moving. These are the public servants I want in my community. Good luck on your careers, looks like its off to a great start!

I wonder when learn about driving that we go to somewhere far or just study near golden west college. And if we go far , the academy have any transportation to us go there or we have to drive to there. A several clip tell us we study driving at hancock college very far from golden west.
@@nhatthongnguyen6067 the driving is done at Allan Hancock College in Lompoc, CA. The agency you work for pays for your stay, but you drive yourself there or ride there with another recruit.
Studying driving we have to go to another college or some where near Golden West college ?

I’m confused how day one they are already in uniform, have a class leader, and walk in formation.
They start this academy in uniform. That’s just how they do things there. They have somewhat of a pre academy and already know who the class leader is, at least for the first day.

You come study and go home after a day. Or you have to stay there a few months no phone nothing like army boot camp.

I never understood why students had to pay to attend academy. I went to LAPD and they hired me and paid for academy.
@@rampar77 you only pay if you self sponsor yourself. Which means, you are not currently working for any department with hopes of getting hired. Any recruit that wears a patch of a department, does not have to pay, just like the LAPD.

The recruits go home everyday. This is not a live in academy.

@neilwarren2010 thanks. I have started the hiring process with lapd, but unfortunately, I am currently overweight, and I need to get in shape before starting the academy. I'm 35 years old, 6'1 Do you think 220 lbs would be a good weight to go to the academy? ( im currently weighing 240lbs) :(

Not at the academy. Recruits will get tased back at their police departments.

I'm starting at a community college ran police academy as a self sponsor in 3 weeks. It's a non stress, laid back style academy here in Tennessee (non live in); 12 weeks. Thank GOD it's not paramilitary style!!
