I love indigo. It’s such an alive color. The first shawl I ever wove was done from my first natural dye experiments. Golds browns yellows oranges are not colors I like to wear so I never wore it. Later I over dyed it in an indigo vat. It was transformed into the most beautiful thing. For years it’s been one of my favorite things. Your building is beautiful, as is your work. I think we belong to the same club. My hands are always the color of whatever dye pot I’m doing. Thank you for showing this beautiful work.

I visited Japan years ago. I was able to visit a Samurai home with a tour guide. She answered so many questions about the architecture. I love that you explain about everything and why things were done a certain way. I will definitely stop by there on my next trip. The traditional buildings are absolutely beautiful!

I grew up in a loose clay floored house in Hungary. We swept it daily with a wet broom to created a thin film which kept the dust down. The house had a thatched roof. Storks often nested in the chimneys. We were not poor, tht type of natural material worked with the climate & elements. And anything that can be sourced locally means you lesson your own carbon footprint & will be rewarded by God for your care of his planets. As a carpenter, builder, renovator it shocked me when I kept hearing that those in Haiti who always seem to have their hands out for international assistance refused houses that were to be built to the standards which would use local materials which would be accessible to them to maintain their homes properly on a regular basis. Everyone wants the N. American style houses that they see on tv or in magazines, which are totally inappropriate for many climates, for many people of modest means or for DIYers. My grandmother with limited assistance was always able to keep our home in good repair, our gardens in high production despite losing her husband when we were invaded during the Hungarian revolution. That more clever & reasonable sized home that your parents live in would suite me just fine. I really like the dominant points of design which make it impossible for even badly brought up persons to know that you never go into a house in shoes that have been on public filthy sidewalks etc.
