I own a Fisher 1270X and talk about a deep detector. This machine is (at least) as deep as a 1266X and I'm sure, deeper. Never compared the two side by side but did also have the 1266X back in 1991. Cut my teeth on the fisher 1225X back in 1989 then the Garrett GTA-1000 briefly in 1990 and in 1991, a brand new 1265X and a brand new 1266X. Fast forward to 2013, I bought a 1270X. Easier to use than the 1266X as it can be set to max sensitivity and chatters like the 1266X did but will calm down when put to the ground unlike the 1266X which was over-sensitive to EMI even from 50 feet or more away from an electrical source and wasn't stable while searching either. Chattered incessantly. I think the 1270X is shielded better. It's also more rare than the 1266X. Not made anymore. Built right up until Fisher was bought out by 1st Texas which makes BH, Fisher, Titan, Teknetics, and (I think) maybe one or two other brands but have forgotten for now. The Chinese-made MD-3009 used (up until discontinued as well), bought-out circuitboards from all the old overstock Fisher 1225X metal detector parts. The build-quality is, believe it or not, very comparable to what would've gone into making the original 1225X's. That's surprising considering a lot of Chinese-made products are of crappy quality. The Chinese company now only makes the MD-3010; very slow response/recovery times and worse than the MD-3009II it replaced. After 1st Texas bought Fisher out, the original metal detectors lost some of their solidness and took on the tones of the Discovery Electronics Treasure Baron MDs founded by George Payne until that private company folded in the late 90s. The Treasure Barons tones are where all Bounty Hunters and (modern) Fishers get their tones from dating back to appx. 1987 with the Treasure Baron badge. The Teknetics Turbo/Turbo II (competition models) along with every other proceeding Teknetics and the Titan brand also have the Discovery Electronics and the Treasure Baron model line from this company to thank for their existence too.

the leather of that time period should be brown white or black and smooth on one side, on the other it should be rough and brown. That looks to be the type of leather used on an officers belt. The normal average leather wouldnt last as long as officers does
