The Cass Review is a much flawed study, by people not even familiar with transgenderism. They began with a result and built their review to fit that premise. I trust the AMA, WPATH and other groups, , they still fell treatment is justified.

The three categories described by this lady are a vanishingly small percentage of those who are gender-confused and those categories are equally derived from opinion rather than proven fact or any medical or scientific basis. 90% of the population are genuinely afraid of "the other", of anything different from their own narrow experience. The most common adjective in such people's vocabulary when dealing with "the other" is "evil"; proving only that they have NO IDEA what evil truly is. DNA and the microscope can ONLY prove sex. Gender is determined by the brain, by means that are NOT yet amenable to scientific explanation. We barely understand the brain functions behind classic insanity, the product of what used to be called schizophrenia, etc. The symptoms of classic insanity can only be SUPPRESSED by drugs, not cured and yet profoundly, scientifically ignorant people claim they can dismiss gender-confusion as something that is not real.

Scientific proof for that has existed for more than 20 years. Of course you can be born in the wrong body. People with AIS (Androgen Immunity Syndrome) are people wirh an XY chromosome, so theoretically male. But due to an immunity to testosterone, they grow up in female bodies (without internal reproductive organs). But they don't suffer as much as X-women, women with just one X chromosome. Also infertile, but suffer horribly as the are set up as extremel feminine with an incredible wish to be morhers, but they can't.

It is encouraging to hear the facts presented so simply and shame on them for refusing to table the scientific documentation. Imagine if anorexia or bulimia were treated as the present social contagion? We would have been told as parents that we should put a padlock on the fridge and pantry doors and only allow our delusional kids to eat a handful of rice crackers every few days or suck on half an apple every week. Very eloquent speech, keep pushing because mental health and family situations are intertwined so deeply that science needs a helping hand. It comes back to Nature versus Nurture does it not? If these dysphoric people (of all ages) were brought up in a different family, would their idea of self-worth have been different as well? Food for thought that’s for sure. NB: Science needs to be pushed also, because while it is being ignored (for now), there are fraudsters, liars and cheats aplenty who need exposing. Treatment is not decided on the basis of "self diagnosis" as then if that were true there would be no doctor, psychologist, or psychiatrist involved which is required to obtain the medication you list. You could furthermore make the case that gays and lesbians would be unhappy because they grossly misuse their body parts and have "sexualized" their ideal self as a future partner. Either way you want to "grease the wheel" and "sharpen the blade" and take an ax to any medical or marriage rights either group has obtained over the last 50 years. Furthermore, I'm an adult who uses gender medicine because simply put I want to look like I was when I was a boy while I still have hair on my head. I was castrated and use low dose estrogen. I've even lowered my cholesterol, blood pressure, and triglycerides with this regimen without any medical harm over the last 15 years. Jeff Landry, the conservative Louisiana governor, has said this treatment can be used without any medical harm for paroled sex offenders. My question to you is, why do I need to commit a felony to get a treatment my doctor has effectively provided me over the last 15 years?
