    Great episode about how 3XN is using computational design in their design process: not as a tool but a way of thinking, not only as an architect but also as engineering. Thanks Oliver for greating this kind of very inspiring content.

    So what is this after all? Far from being an architectural studio, it is more of an IT studio or firm. Did you get a chance to film their server farms or data centers? 😀

    Some of the important lessons in the video for me include: 1. The importance of interdisciplinary collaboration on projects, and how early involvement of necessary disciplines is crucial. 2. Digital tools should not replace the ability to think and solve problems within the project's program or constraints. As my boss often says, "Tools are just tools, what matters is 'can you think?'" 3. The importance of building models for construction/fabrication rather than solely for visualization. I believe Kenn Clausen's point about reforming education is crucial because I've observed a significant gap between classroom learning and practical application, at least in my country, Nigeria. He suggested the importance of having learning from "practice based" education platforms, outside of university education. However, I wonder if there's a common ground where these two paths can intersect. A university curriculum that is more reflective of what happens in practice. As always, a big shoutout to the ATN team.

    Excellent channel! Very nice videos! But i wonder why almost all architectural firms all over the world adopted the open plan work areas. So many people side by side have to work without any personal space. In the office where i work as an Autocad and Revit designer every engineer has his/her own individual close space with door and windows. They have to attend video-calls, speak to phones with others and we as designers-drafters work in small groups of 2-3 people in our dedicated areas.

      Yea nearly all we have toured are like this, in my opinion i would agree with it, it enables much better collaboration, I would see design teams having discussion way more, sketching on each others tables and also team sitting near share ideas about their projects. It's a much better environment for cross pollination of ideas.

    • @architech.network
      @architech.network 26 дней назад

      Thanks, and great question although a bit tricky to answer as digital twin is still somewhat undefined, for example if you have a Revit/BIM model of a built project that is a digital twin. Otherways people are building a digital twin is building a model in Unreal and you start to link it to real world data which is visualized in the Unreal model.

      Thanks Oliver, very kind of you. Using BIM tools such as ArchCAD, we can apply some IFCs properties to simulate e.g. the thermal characteristics of the building you are creating. I was wondering how you guys go about that? Many thanks for the work you are doing by the way.

This is amazing because you and the other guys like Tim , Mariana , Shantal etc are the must important architects around the world. I think that the must important offices are in London.
