I've had several days of breakfast with lupins presoaked 24hours and then pressure cooked in an Indian 15psi pressure cooker (Hawkins), no further soaking. Flat tasting beans, which is is apparently due to its very low starch content. I'm now going to try presoaking for 48hours. No bellyaches so far. That lupinin alkaloid probably has some medicinal effect at low doses.

You are right…it is an iconic herb of Ethiopia and one is used in the preparation of ‘Berbere’ and ‘Shiro’. We also use it to flavor our Coffee and tea. There are medicinal properties to rue and it’s used for stomachache and other ailments. It’s also revered as a protective herb against the evil eye.🪴

This is a GREAT video and so is the diverter video! Thanks for these! I want to harvest some rainwater for my plants/small garden. Tap water seems to make everything sterile. But I've also got a drainage problem in that my yard holds too much water. I can't afford the real deal fix right now. But I COULD AFFORD to put up a few barrels at strategic downspout locations and add hoses to run that extra water down to the street where it can go to the gutter instead of making my yard a swamp. Any suggestions about where/how to modify?

Last year I planted two root 12" seedlings in full sun in sandy perpetually moist fertile soil. It didnt do much of anything last summer but this spring there are 3 leaves at the very tip top. Will it do well in that location? What do you think? When it rains the ground gets soggy. Edible orange day lillies love those wet conditions but don't like sandy wet soil in competition with grass that grows near stream. I learn through observation.

I'm surprised. Are you sure it isn't still just dormant? It dies back to the ground and isn't always obvious until it's grown a bit. The first few years are touch and go, though, so it might be that it was just too small. Next time, consider piling up leaves or mulch over it for the coldest months, then remove the mulch in March. Should survive with a little special care.. Also, growing it from larger root segments can give you more critical mass, so that the plant is less fragile. I bet you can make it work with a little ingenuity. 👍

We use wood sorrel with fish and chicken dishes. Just toss it in the pan with a little butter and add the fish or chicken. Can also be used with veggies as well to add a nice lemony flavor. Makes a lovely tea and if you like it can be turned into a nice syrup as well. Just avoid eating it to often if you have issues with your kidneys particularly stones.

But since I do not take any medications, I plan to try a little in my coffee. I love chicory coffee! And, a good friend from African said she uses it as a tea... Interesting.

The only way I know is to ask the seller or to see what was delivered in the barrel. They can be used to transport anything from corn syrup to pesticides. The seller will usually know, and should be able to tell you what it held. If they don't know, you should be cautious.

Icut it a little larger and sew a pocket around it like a hoodie and put a string through that and put it over the top of the barrel and pull the string tight . Iyt still lets rain in but not bugs and keeps leaves and stuff out . I thank my dad for that idea back when we owned a farm growing up and collected rain water t make manure tea to fertilize our gardewns . It was just a 7 acre city farm that was grandfathered in when my parents bought it when Iwas 9 and the was back in the 60's . Expect he just tied the string around the rain barrels and it was always hard to get off
