The 10 Disciplines of a Worldview
The idea of this picture and the 10 Disciplines themselves are taken from David Noble's book Understanding the Times. You can find more from him and his team at Summit Ministries at www.summit.org/ where you can get additional training, attend camps and conferences and find many helpful resources. His book was required reading for my 12th grade worldview and apologetics course. I'm sure you can find much of the same material on his website in video or podcast format and that it will speak to the major worldviews of today. While we may be looking at different iterations of old things, "There is nothing new under the sun" and we'll find that many "new" things are simply repackaged forms for...

The Five Questions a Worldview Must Answer and Four Main Categories of Worldviews
Просмотров 4414 дней назад
Every worldview must in some way answer the questions of Origins, Meaning, Morality, Destiny, and Identity. In this video I discuss those five primary questions as well as four categories for the various worldviews you may encounter: Theistic, Pantheistic, Humanistic, and Naturalistic. While Pantheism is a type of theism, it is very dissimilar to the types of theism that we normally think about...
3 Laws of Logic
Просмотров 5514 дней назад
Before we can start talking about apologetics, we need to have some rules to play by. The three most foundational truths in this area are the three laws of logic, which I will discuss here. Once we have established these ground rules, then we can start talking about some of the other broader topics in worldviews and apologetics.

If Adam and Eve had hoped their firstborn son, Cain, would be the promised Seed to defeat the serpent, their hopes were crushed when Cain murdered his brother Abel out of jealousy. Grieving the loss of Abel, Adam and Eve had another son, Seth-a son in Adam’s likeness. Unlike Cain’s descendants, who lived however they pleased, Seth’s descendants walked with God and hoped for reprieve from the cu...

man, i had forgotten this... moving the decimal. we didn't have calculators when i was in high school as far as can remember. (9th grade math was all we had to take unless you were taking college prep classes) calculators sure make math easier.

Hello Daniel, i'm an old guy going back to school and i'm starting at the beginning. i'm glad i found your channel because i'm going to take MDE 10 beginning this fall. i have a question on which book you're using. i've been told that the e-book is on the Hawkes website but i haven't asked which book it is. are you teaching from the Hawkes e-book and if so, which one are you using. thanks

Different colleges in the VCCS will use different textbooks. I'm not sure which textbook your college has adopted, but these videos should cover all the same topics. If you'd like to view the OpenStax Prealgebra playlist on this channel that covers those same topics with a book you can access for free, you can access that textbook here: openstax.org/details/books/prealgebra-2e.

While almost certainly not the textbook that you will be using for your course, if you would like to read a free online textbook that covers many of these same topics, you can check out the Contemporary Mathematics textbook from OpenStax: openstax.org/details/books/contemporary-mathematics. You can practice similar problems to those I am working from that textbook and answers to the odd-numbered exercises are provided in the back of the book. Your college bookstore will be able to provide you with information on the exact course materials for your section of MTH 154 that you are taking this summer, and your instructor will be able to provide you with a schedule of work for suggested homework and/or graded homework for the course when he or she goes over the syllabus with you (or if it's an online asynchronous course, the syllabus should become available for you to read the first day of class). The best thing you can probably do to get ready for MTH 154 is to practice your Prealgebra and Algebra 1 skills. You may want to check out these topics from the OpenStax Prealgebra textbook to help review those skills if you feel rusty in any of these areas: ruclips.net/p/PLBpOIybtKeG_ZTSKcGO3dwQR0JfbE-TPw.
