Haha I was a rural contractor postman in Australia. I worked for someone and I started work at 6am, sorted, stacked and loaded my car with parcels maybe 50 per day and on average 500 letters every day, from memory there was 2500-3000 delivery points and over 200km a day and I finished at 5pm-7.30pm every day. I’m glad I quit that shit.

This is the total truth about UPS. Everybody has a different story but if you value personal time with your family and are not addicted to money this probably will not be the job for you. I was a full time driver for a number of years and the straw that broke the camels back was when they were on me about my times( we had one of the worst snow storms in years in 1993) and I was getting in late nights with no accidents and was told that I would have to make a decision between my job and my family. Many will not believe this but I don't care - it was so ridiculous for anybody to say that it made it too easy for me to just give them two weeks notice and leave but that is exactly what I did and would do it all over again if put to the test. I have never worked for anybody that just because they pay you big bucks it gives them the right to treat you like crap. If you truly want to be a UPS driver you are going to do it but don't get caught up in the job so much that don't allow for a life for yourself - you can't go back and get the time back. Best of luck to anyone that drives for them.

All ups drivers are not this guy, these are a small percentage of complainers and this is sad to admit. Most ups drivers are very proud and appreciative to having these driver positions for ups. I’ve been with ups 36 years in total, driver for 29 years, yes I work a lot of hours but I made it my mission to never miss any of my daughters after school track, gymnastics, plays, school meetings, basketball, I might have been 5 minutes late. I raised my daughters as a single dad with help from family but working for ups made it financially possible comfortably, I enjoy 8 weeks paid vacations and 4 personal days each year. This guy is embarrassing to all the ups drivers I know, I’ve help train well over 100s of ups drivers and I would have passed on making this guy a driver, you don’t deserve the great pension ups gives you each month

Think of it as a monkey money trap, you grab that fist of money they put in there and then you are stuck because you can't pull your hand out. It's up to you decide when to let go. I recently got fired from ups after working there for 13 years. I use to get in trouble all the time because I was trying to finish the route faster. My last stick was when my manager so me with a bag that I purchase on a route. I was pulled in the office two days prior because I sheeted a package wrong. They couldn’t Discipline me for that so they used my shopping bag as a result of my suspension. I admitted that I bought a shirt on my route while I was doing a pick up. They Use that as leverage to suspend me one’s again. I had to Go to arbitration were they made me look like I was the worst of the worst workers. That’s when I was terminated. I was devastated because my job was everything and it was it was all I knew. Ups pay and great benefits, but they put a lot of pressure and stress to you.

It is exhausting... Wake up at 630... Get to the warehouse at 730-8 to sort your truck (which is unpaid) and work nonstop for 10-12 hours pending on the time of year/route/ and knowledge of the area... Im a cover driver and I never, ever can get a route done (scratch) the first several days of being put on a new route but they expect you to like you're Superman... Plus, the time for each stop is unrealistic because it doesn't take into account traffic, bulk stops, climbing stairs, a customer stopping to ask a question... Plus the new DIADs they just recently got suck and freeze up everyday, guaranteed... So for me to get my routes done I skip lunch (but still have to record one) and get there early to organize my truck ( because half the preload just don't care)... So all in all I'm working about 8 hours a week unpaid just to alleviate stress from my supervisors who are watching you with telematics everyday... They'll give you an area where driveways are 100 yards long and then get upset if you back up too much... So the next day you walk off a lot of the driveways, but guess what; the next you'll get told you took too long... I guess they expect you to teleport across driveways

I called my supervisor and they had me check the engine for loose coils and plugs ( which is fine because I wanted to avoid transferring 275 packages onto a new truck anyway) but nothing worked so they sent a new truck...but, they wanted me to actually try to deliver some stops while the other truck was coming... There was no way I was going to do that because I was on some country road with a 45mph speed limit... I declined and said told them the truth... I don't feel safe doing that, I said, and that worked... Because god forbid I get into an accident with some shaking truck going 10mph I'm sure it would be my fault and possibly my job... Just to get 5 to 10 stops off... Screw that

It's amazing how as a cover driver you're expected to scratch the first time you do a route...
