The same thing that saved my season is now also my biggest frustration!!!! They definitely ARE NOT JUNK! I absolutely love Leader and their USA made products! But these check valve spiles have some serious issues that need to be addressed if I'm going to continue to use them... Scott Dunn, who also has a youtube channel you must go check out!! Personally called me and said leader is going to be...

    It is realy not a mistake , here in Quebec , pretty comon putting 20 and over tap per line , no problem there and no loss of sap , bit really important to get gravity on your line all way up to the end just like your main

    I have a sunrise 2x8 jdl extreme. New in 2014. Good quality but lacked directions to set it up. One complaint is the sap boils so hard it needs a better shield over flu pan.

    I've had good luck with the stubbies. The cv spouts were a pain, stubbies go luch quicker pulling and tapping.

    Seems like a pretty good system of documentation. What size is your mainline? And did you use a sap guzzler?

  • @Blitz4688
    @Blitz4688 5 месяцев назад

    Great idea. Had to take down a 400' gravity line last year for some logging and thought that I could figure it out when I put it back up this year. Ha, had to cut and modify it to work. How would you roll that up and store it?

  • @kevb9578
    @kevb9578 5 месяцев назад

    Man that stinks. I’m not giving advice but I cut all my stubbys out cuz of the pain in the azz they were. Didn’t seal, hard to get off, or would pop apart during freeze thaw events. That was 10 yrs ago tho. Maybe better now. 👍🏻

    • @PureMapleGoodness
      @PureMapleGoodness 5 месяцев назад

      Yes I believe stubs are going to be the way to go now! Just as anything alot has changed in past several and for the better! H20/Leader are doing some serious changes and getting stuff right now moving forward!

      @kevb9578 5 месяцев назад

      What brands have you been using??

    • @chrisreetz4117
      @chrisreetz4117 5 месяцев назад

      @PureMapleGoodness Lapierre clear disposable they have been OK I think I'm going to try h2o disposable ones this year. Used check valve stubbies for couple years lots of leaks where they connected and if you have over 20in vac sucked check valves all way back to my releaseer pump plugged it up probably had 400 of them stuck in it.

  • @frankeem3820
    @frankeem3820 5 месяцев назад

    I feel your pain man! I stopped using those check valve spouts years ago. I was running into the exact same issues that you were. I was carrying around a little easy out/Screw Extractor device with me when I was pulling Taps. I would pull the ones out that would separate like that. I was buying them at the hardware.

      There's always someone who thinks that truth is confusing. What's confusing is when truth gets replaced by stories.

    • @natebissell
      @natebissell 4 месяца назад

      @FillBetto then there is your personal truth. What you believe to be true. Principles aren't negotiable. Gravity is a principle. It is when people do not have the discernment to know what is an immovable principle and what is an opinion. Humans are funny. We make decisions emotionally and justify them logically. And then we think we are logical.

    • @FillBetto
      @FillBetto 4 месяца назад

      @natebissell Think but don't stress. Stressful sentences with nothing said shows stress. Don't make simple things so difficult. Spinners can easily feel threatened and become defensive when faced with the reality of facts. Especially facts grounded in physics. If I ask why humans can look out hundreds of miles without seeing curvature, a puzzled look and expression is usually the first reaction to a slice of reality. Ask a spinner what is the curvature formula for earth, and again that bewildered look. Sometimes it changes to anger. The spinner will become irrational and may willingly replace the solid criteria of observation, for flimsy and foolish stories. "Suuuure the stars move...it's just ONLY measured with verrrry sophisticated equipment". It goes on and on. Trust me, fiction (stories) will run from observation like dracula runs from The Son. Confuse? Look at your reply. Keep it simple.

    You're running into the same problem that a lot of us run into when we first get into Maple production. The knowledge that's available tends to be very tribal. A lot of people have their ways of doing things but it's not always the best way. And to get truly good information is very difficult! I've had to consult some resources outside of the maple community in order to get some good technical guidance on some things.
