Essential Tips for Sharpening Woodturning Gouges - Wood Lathe Success - #RandomWednesday
Просмотров 8113 месяца назад
At #MakingAwesome, my local makerspace, we have a wonderful Conover wood lathe. I'm enjoying learning to use it to turn bowls, but having a good lathe is only 1/2 of what you need. You also need an assortment of gouges and those gouges need to be sharp. Join me as I learn how to sharpen gouges using a slow speed grinder and some very useful jigs, with Ralph Callander, the President of the South...

      Thank you. So far everyone at our complex is safe and the roof is tarped (but still leaking). Now we're waiting for the insurance adjuster to schedule a visit. Several people in the complex are now homeless, and one guy is still living there without electricity in a relatively undamaged unit. In other units the plaster ceiling has fallen down.

      Not that I remember. There was a lot of stone work and mortar, and a lot of really interesting tile floors. Because of the way the city was buried in mud, there are quite a few examples of wood lintels and beams that have survived.

    Hi. Thanks for posting this video. I am really happy Fablab Torino is still kicking, but I partially disagree about the storytelling that is given in your nice video. The project was produced with the help of Officine Arduino, now Officine Innesto (name changed after the big Arduino drama) too, and when Arduino eventually went away in the other part of the building we stayed (for many years), and did many sacrifices to pay out the machines - namely the CNC milling machine - that were bought during this period, and keep the place alive along the effort of Toolbox Coworking. We eventually finished paying these things after the COVID lol. Not to mention this is lacking respect of many people that were eventually involved in this interlude, and me myself that had the precious and ancient honour of damnatio memoriae. I'm not surprised this story is not aknowledged an possibly wasn't given to you, so this is just my effort to give you the complete picture, but I really would like to add the fact that Officine Innesto helped the development of the Fablab Torino, and still is indeed, by lending some of the machines. We all know a Fablab is not its machines, so most of the merit of keeping the place alive goes to the people that now have the time and resources to take care of it, but indeed this has to be aknowledged. Feel free to contact me to have another title in the video. Ciao

    I have now used the service in several Italian cities. In general, the rental rate was similar except in Torino where instead of 2 euro for 30 minutes, it was about 6 euro. It's still an excellent deal and worked well for me.

    I played an older model for about ten years. The Hayden system is very intuitive. You should learn it very quickly. I sold my old stagi to my sister, as I had purchased a peacock from concertina connection. I'm 68 years old. My fingers have some numbness issues. The peacock has those little metal pins. Very uncomfortable. I had liberty bellows sell it for me and I bought a new stagi duet. The action does seem faster than the older one, and those big fat plastic buttons are so much more comfortable. The only thing I changed was the leather hand straps. They're made of good leather, but very stiff. Hurt my hand immediately. Get some "latigo" leather, Very tough but much more flexible. The duet system is the only way to go. The peacock is , (In my Opinion), great for session, but it's loud and out of balance. The chord side buries the melody. The stagi is also much sweeter. People will say. The peacock has hand made concertina reeds, much better. Well they don't sound better, they sound harsh. sorry for the long explanation, but it's hard to find detailed info about this stuff. Hopefully this info, from someone who has played a concertina for a while will help. John Xavier Poetic License

      I've had mine for 8 months now. I play the instruments in three different bands. It's easy to play for me. I love the sound and except for one slightly stiff button, the action is very good.

    @DepartmentofWackyIdeas 8 месяцев назад

    I made an error in the video when I identified the Hayden duet as a diatonic instrument. It is fully chromatic. I was so intrigued by the system that I recently had one made for me. It is super logical and easy to learn to play.
