Can you tell me which clutch pencil that is and the diameter? I just bought one, but I don't think it's right because it's 5.6 mm.
Rad! The 5.6mm looks like a lot of fun. I gotta try one of those out. The ones I use are the Staedtler Mars Technico 2mm. I take the click off for extra comfort!
I signed up for a discounted book, wasn't really what I needed but the price was under £10 then I didn't use their website a year later I was charged £68 for a subscription I didn't know I had agreed too, and obviously they state they dont do refunds, and this is happening a lot, they clearly know its a good way to earn extra money, my mono bank also said cant help me because in the terms and conditions that no one reads. they might be ok but in my option unethical company who are exploiting this subscription model. check their trust pilot and 90% of reviews are 1 ⭐.
Too god information
Thanks! Which book is your favorite?
Hello, dude. I am amazed by how approachable and at the same time profound your video is. The lineup of books is wonderful, I personally own two Loomis` books "Figure Drawing For All It's Worth" and "Drawing Heads and Hands" which I find a bit hefty for an experienced beginner, who needs to relearn crucial techniques and learn new ones. I would like to see how you are sketching and reading the books simultaneously, like you did in the vid. Thank you for the wisdom!
Glad you enjoyed it! The Loomis books are a bit hefty, but the information he provides on how to think like an artist is something every beginner needs to hear. I’ll be sharing more of my work and studies in my future tutorials. Any chapters or subjects in specific you would like to see?
After some struggle and emails, I finally got my hands on the content. Its a lot of drawing instructions. After a initial purchase of 10 dollars (one year latter there was a full charge of 89.90) I have to say that they shoul warn us about the incoming charge. But... after some emails, Sebastian allowed me access to the content and... what a great content it is! Congratulations to TFC for a very good teaching material. I no longer think this is a "scam". I got what I paid for
Thanks for sharing your experience, I'm glad you ultimately found the content helpful!

Everyone’s journey is different. Are you going to get another copy?
I've never seen a hardcover version of How to draw the marvel way. Also, it looks like I have all these books, minus the Barber one.
How to Draw Comics the Marvel Way Hardcover was a little hard to find at a decent price. But I consider it a must have. I prefer hardcovers and currently still tracking down a few. What's your preference? Anatomy for Artists by Barrington Barber is a terrific resource for any artist looking to improve their figure drawing skills. Its clear and detailed illustrations, combined with practical advice, provide a solid foundation for understanding the human form. It's great to break down each individual body part when practicing.
Burne Hogarth should be on the list too
Great recommendation! Thanks for sharing.

Right now I'm in the process of getting a refund, either from them, my credit card or PayPal. They don't alert you about any subscriptions or any deals other than the 10$ deal I initially got from social media. They are imho a very dishonest shady company for not being transparent and not allowing customers remove the subscription once it hits because they never ever mention it anywhere. Dishonest and shady people, I hope their business model goes under and anyone supporting them supports this type of thievery and unscrupulous behavior.

Whoa there friendo, hold on a minute! It's great that you have strong opinions about learning to draw, but let's break this down a bit. "How to Draw the Marvel Way" isn't meant to be the ultimate, all-encompassing guide to becoming a professional comic book artist. It is, however, a fun and accessible way to learn basic comic book figure drawing and storytelling techniques. *Here's why it’s valuable:* • *Beginner Friendly:* How to Draw the Marvel Way uses a clear and engaging format that can be a great starting point for aspiring comic book artists, especially younger audiences. • *Solid Foundation:* The book teaches basic anatomy, proportions, and dynamic posing, which are essential skills for any comic book artist. • *Focus on Fun:* Learning through popular characters can be a fun and motivating way to develop an interest in drawing. You're right, Andrew Loomis and Bridgman are masters of figure drawing, and their books are fantastic resources for any artist who wants to delve deeper into anatomy and classical techniques. You can actually use How to Draw Comics the Marvel Way as a starter, then explore more in-depth resources like Loomis and Bridgman. Learn the basics through the Marvel book, then use the more advanced techniques from Loomis and Bridgman to refine your skills. There's no single "right" way to learn how to draw. And there’s no single “right” way to teach. Your videos are informative; however we are teaching two different things and two different ways. What matters most is finding resources and methods that work for you. Let's keep the conversation going! Let me know what you think!
Thanks
Great recommendations Brad - I own most of these but have never gotten serious with studying figure drawing until recently. Specifically for the Loomis book, how do you go about studying this book since it's not really a step-by-step? Of course reading the book is a given but as you go along is the practice to draw what he has drawn - page-by-page?
Thank you! and thanks for watching! Great question! In the next video, I’ll be reviewing best practices for studying figure drawing with Andrew Loomis's "Figure Drawing: For All It's Worth" We'll break down some actionable steps to get the most out of this foundational book. In the meantime, here’s a couple tips! • *Focus on the Basics* : Loomis emphasizes foundational elements like form, proportion, and structure. Don't get intimidated by details at first. • *Break Down the Steps* : While the book isn't strictly step-by-step, Loomis often breaks figures down into simpler shapes. Try identifying these and use them as a guideline for constructing your own drawings. Let me know what you think!
Thanks Brad. I look forward to that next video. I’m going to review Loomis’ “Fun with a pencil” as I’ve seen it mentioned to check that one out first and then onto the figure drawing for all it’s worth.

Is this the one that published in simon & schuster company or titan books ltd company? Im not sure which one to buy, do you think its the same?
Hey there! It doesn't necessarily matter which publisher you buy "How to Draw Comics the Marvel Way" from, as long as it's a reputable seller. The content of the book should be the same regardless of the publisher (Simon & Schuster or Titan Books Ltd). The book was written by Stan Lee and John Buscema. As long as you get a version by these authors, the core content will be the same. "How to Draw Comics the Marvel Way" is a licensed property of Marvel Comics. This means the core content has to be approved by Marvel, regardless of the publisher. Now there's another book titled "Stan Lee's How to Draw Comics" which provides an updated approach about comic book creation with multiple artists and I'll be providing an in depth book review and best practices for that one as well. Stay Tuned! Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions!
Awesome video! The pint glass tip is a game changer!

The pint glass trick. I like that. Great video.

Awesome video Brad 🔥! Helped me clear my doubts about the human head, and camera angles! Im sure this'll help me to plan out my one shot.
I'm so glad to hear it! Your work has progressed so much and I'm excited to see what you come up with!
I’d really like to say my boy Spider-Man has it but I truly think silver surfer wins this match
I’m really happy you finally finished the second half, I’ve been waiting a lot for this thing to drop, especially wanting to hear your own tips on how it’s done. Also your right it’s all good if our work doesn’t look like or trying to imitate like John Buscema, or his Bother Sal or even Ron Frenz, which is what I was trying to do. Personally it’s best to go for the No.1 Artist you like and copy the techniques that John is using, but if not, go for it the way your doing it naturally even if it’s not the way it would look like in the book, we’re still in the middle of practicing our craft. Personally it’s best not to study only one artists but many even the other ones that inspired them too.
I'm so glad you're excited about the second half of the video! I've been putting a lot of work into it, unlike my software! So it's awesome to hear you've been looking forward to it. You're absolutely right - it's important to remember that while "How to Draw Comics the Marvel Way" is a fantastic resource, it's not about copying John Buscema or any other artist exactly. Instead, it's about learning the techniques and principles they use to create dynamic and expressive figures. I completely agree with your point about studying multiple artists. Exposing yourself to different styles and approaches will broaden your artistic vocabulary and help you develop your own unique voice. Keep practicing and experimenting! The more you explore, the more you'll discover what works for you and how you can make your own artistic mark. Keep up the RAD work Charlie!
This was awesome definitely looking forward to part 3!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!!
I know it's a huge request, but a video on Figure Drawing for All It's Worth by Andrew Loomis would be awesome. That's a dense book to get through without guidance
On it! "Figure Drawing for All It's Worth" by Andrew Loomis is definitely a dense and challenging book, but also a classic for a reason. I'd love to create a video series breaking down the key concepts and exercises. To make it as helpful as possible, could you tell me what specific aspects of the book you find most challenging? Are there any particular sections or techniques you'd like me to focus on? The more specific you can be, the better I can tailor the video series to your needs.
Love the “hulk smash” the subscribe button, clever 👊🏼💥
Thank you! The Hulk would definitely subscribe. He’s on the cover, after all!
Patience?? Patience has been the most difficult part so far for me but small successes are adding up which help to build it.
I completely understand! Patience can be incredibly challenging, especially when you're working towards a goal. It's fantastic that you're focusing on the small successes, because those are the building blocks that lead to bigger achievements. Remember, building patience takes time and consistent effort. Keep celebrating your small wins, and you'll gradually find yourself developing more patience and resilience.
This is really helpful. Can’t wait for part 3!

free you say? hmm yes.
I get using references, but I don’t know how to use them properly. Those time limit sketches; do we do it on paper, because doing this on digitally feels like you need two screens to draw on.
Hey there! If you’re drawing digitally, what are you using? I know on an iPad you can minimize the window to a corner of the screen. If not, then yes two screens might be ideal or traditionally instead.
@@the_artistic_avenger I’m currently using an XP display tablet to draw on, but I cannot use the tablet as a 2nd screen since I’m using only shared screen due to complications. And my pc doesn’t seem to support two monitors either.
@@jasonpark1987 most of the sites are mobile friendly, could you use your phone as a second screen?
@@the_artistic_avenger do you mean to use it as a screen for reference? I just recently upgraded my phone to iPhone 13, so I could try that.

Is it weird that I find shapes hard to draw, at times. I guess it’s due to me being a beginner but you would expect shapes being easy to draw.. oh well
Hey there! First off, let me assure you that finding shapes hard to draw, especially as a beginner, is completely normal! Drawing may seem straightforward in theory, but mastering shapes and forms takes practice and patience. It's common for beginners to encounter challenges with shapes. That’s why it is critical to take the time to practice becoming more comfortable and confident before moving forward. When practicing try to eliminate the thought of perfection. Learn to be comfortable with sketching loose lines, then go back to define the shape. For example, when drawing a cylinder, your first oval might not be angled enough to match the rest of its body. But you then go back and draw it to match perspective. Remember, every artist starts somewhere, and it's all about enjoying the learning process and celebrating your progress along the way. If you ever need tips or encouragement with your drawing journey, feel free to reach out through our discord community! Link in channel description.
Maybe they arent hard to draw but rather not turning out what you want them to look like. Try getting a rock from outside and drawing it. Dont make it perfect because even if you mess up it will still look like a rock. Anyone who looks at the drawing wont know if you messed up or not. Plus it is a good way to get your mind out of copying a subject and to start using the subject as reference and allowing you to create from it.
This is an absolute gem of a tip! 🙌Thank you for sharing and being a supportive artist ally 🤝
How long do you suggest we stay on shapes and should we incorporate foreshortening or would that come with persoective
Hey there! Great question! When it comes to following "How to Draw Comics the Marvel Way," it's all about finding your own pace and what works best for you. As for how long to stick with shapes, it really depends on your comfort level and how confident you feel with them. As mentioned in the best practices at the end of the video, I recommend spending 2 to 5 minutes each day warming up and practicing them or anything you don't feel quite comfortable with. Some artists find it helpful to spend a good amount of time mastering shapes before moving on, while others prefer to integrate shape practice throughout their learning process. I'll cover foreshortening exercises in the next video on chapters 7 - 12. I recommend practicing drawing the grids for perspective and placing shapes on those grids for the time being!
You literally cannot practice them enough. The level of complexity involved in drawing cubes, cylinders, and spheres is mind boggling. Here's what I'd say...if you even _ask_ that question, you don't understand them or what they're used for in drawing. Check out the "drawabox" course, it's great.
