C.P. Model Railway
Добавлен 1 ноя 2022
Near the start of the COVID lockdowns in 2020, Hornby released some centenary items that matched Hornby Dublo 3-Rail items that my family owned when I was younger. Nostalgia resulted in my buying some of these models. These purchases then resulted in beginning a somewhat slowly progressing layout that I have called Cwm Pencwrw (which loosely translates from Welsh as "Vale of the Beer Head")
The layout itself is intended to be a completely fictitious, heritage railway. As such it can and will feature historically inaccurate scenarios.
The channel won't just concentrate on the layout itself as videos relating to model railways in general (and possibly some real railways too) will also appear

Locomotion No1
Hornby's Locomotion No.1 - Quick unbox and rolling road run
(R30345 1857 Condition version for Hornby Collectors Club)
Addendum: in the video I mention a magnetic coupling, and although it does come with such coupling, the item shown on screen at the time is not a coupling, it is a bucket hanging on an arm

The newly released Hornby Isle of Wight Terrier (no 10) with the previously released Isle of Wight Terrier (No 11) and 4-wheel carriages running with another recent arrival of the LSWR O2 and carriages from EFE Rail (with a couple of extra Hornby LSWR locos added to the consist as well)
Peco Large England DCC Fit
Просмотров 5066 месяцев назад
DCC fitting a Peco / Kato OO9 Large England - in this instance 'Welsh Pony' As the DCC fitting of the Small and Large England locos is the same, the process will work for both models and does require desoldering/soldering skills as the DCC decoder is hard-wired into the loco. I have used a Zimo MX616F decoder as it is small enough to for the space however other decoders may also fit.
Tiger vs Lion at Cwm Pencwrw
Просмотров 1,3 тыс.Год назад
Short running session of sound fitted examples of Hornby's 'Tiger' and Rapido's 'Lion' OO gauge model locos Notes: Rapido's Lion contains a factory fitted LOKSOUND decoder configured with appropriate sounds and speed settings. Hornby's Tiger contains a Hornby HM7000TXS decoder, but as no sound profile currently exists for Tiger or Lion, it is using an unmodified, default loco profile (meaning t...
SE&CR Session at Cwm Pencwrw
Просмотров 590Год назад
Some newly installed backscenes and a session with my recent SE&CR acquisitions of a Hattons P class with some of their Genesis Coaches and a selection of Rapido's vans and wagons. No SE&CR goods train would be complete without one of the much wishlisted/anticipated Bachmann Dancehall Brakes As well as the P Class: a terrier, C Class, D Class & H Class are also on display, along with and an int...
Diesel Day at Cwm Pencwrw
Просмотров 1822 года назад
Normally operating as a steam heritage railway, the odd diesel loco will run Cwm Pencwrw Having not recorded a new video recently and gained a couple of new sound fitted diesel locos it was time for a session. Locos shown: - Bachmann Class 08 'Gronk' No. 08785, in Freightliner G&W Orange livery (a livery I have heard railwayman describe as 'Jaffa Cake' when talking Class 66s in the same colours...
Hornby Stream Generator Demo - GBMRS Gaydon, Oct 2022
Просмотров 3,5 тыс.2 года назад
A very short video, from the weekend's Gaydon show, of Hornby's demo of their forthcoming Steam Generator function with sound. The system is initially due to be fitted to models of Flying Scotsman, a Black 5 and a P2. The video also shows the glow from the firebox. What is shown is still an engineering prototype so the smokebox door is not fitted correctly and there may be more to come with reg...
TT:120 Hornby Demo Layout - GBMRS Gaydon, October 2022
Просмотров 7 тыс.2 года назад
Shot through the heavy perspex that Hornby used to protect the layout so not the best quality, but this shows an example of Hornby's LNER A1 and an 08 'Gronk' running on their demo ovals for their new TT:120 releases which should be coming soon. .
The L&MR Rocket Mail Pack - May 2022

A very short video showing Hornby's Rocket Mail pack, just after I revived it back in May 2022. Was a bit lucky with clearance on my tunnel entrances as the chimney/smoke stack was much closer than I would have liked
Ale and Army Trains on the Cwm Pencwrw model layout - Sep 2021
Просмотров 302 года назад
Just showing some loco and rolling stock acquisitions with a kind of drunken squaddy theme The Terrier is a weathered example that came my way after winning a Hornby Competition. The LMR J94/Austerity Saddle Tank is sound fitted (I used a shop fitting service and got them to add the loco crew at the same time). I have managed to pick up a few LMR wagons to make up the army train. The MN Spam Ca...
Hornby 4-Wheel GWR Coaches - Feb 2021
Просмотров 1352 года назад
A visual review from Feb 2021 of the 4-Wheel early GWR coaches released by Hornby. I went for the ones with the new Maglight illumination already installed I don't talk on the video so here is a couple of key points: 1) The side footboards come separate and easily clip into the underside of the chassis (I would recommend fitting these AFTER removing the battery tabs) 2) The battery tabs that is...
Cwm Pencwrw - March 2021
Просмотров 1622 года назад
A short video of my lockdown model railway project that I have tentatively called Cwm Pencwrw (Vale of the Beer Head). The tunnel became a proper tunnel just before this was recorded last week, having been a glorified veranda with open sides prior to that. Metcalfe bridge and retaining wall kits have been modified for my needs then dried cork bark, filler and paint used to complete the sides of...
Lights and Sounds with the Heljan Railcar

DCC fitting a LokSound decoder into a Heljan GWR AEC Railcar, showing the available lighting options before and after fitting the sound. The sound functionality is also demonstrated. Note: This is just an overview, the video does not show every step of the fitting and demonstrates most (but not quite all) of the lighting combinations available after fitting the decoder.
Rapido Wagons: SE&CR Open Wagons & GWR Gunpowder Vans - March 2022
Просмотров 1222 года назад
A short video showing the some of the OO gauge, wagons and vans released by Rapido in March 2022. A couple of the, then new, Oxford Pilchard wagons are also included. For comparison, an older Dapol Gunpowder Van, along with some Bachmann & Hornby SE&CR open wagons are also shown. As at the time, there were no RTR, SE&CR Brake Vans, the freight controller borrowed a couple of LSWR Brake Vans to ...
Cwm Pencwrw Mineral Wagons - from Oct 2021
Просмотров 882 года назад
A running session with the Accurascale MDO / MDV Mineral Wagons - including The Jennifer Kirk, Monday Club Special Edition The Garrett would have been hauling a train but was about to be boxed up for repair which resulted in the Black 5 and 9F taking over NOTE: While this layout is intended to be based in Wales (so mainly GWR), it will be operating more in the style of a heritage railway so wil...
*Weeps in it not being available in the US.*
Many thanks. You seem to have been fortunate in getting one where the motion seems smooth. I need to get mine out of the box and stop being lazy
You are running an actual production run loco. My two videos where of the prototype at different stages. At the Key Model World's MK GETS exhibition, the brown (wooden) areas of the loco looked like self-coloured plastic, not paint. Can you confirm what the wooden finish is please ?
The wood finish on the tender has an element of grain on it, but does look a little toy-like in appearance. (the body of the loco itself does look better)
@cwmpencwrwmodelrailway1801 Maybe too high a satin sheen for a realistic wooden finish.
Put your camera/phone on a tripod 😊. You can't unpackage an item one handed. I found that out on my Midland Pullman carriages unpacking video.
Wow! That’s an impressive model. 👍👍👍
This model appears very fragile and I doubt if it would last very long before the valve gear gives up the ghost My suggestion get a copy and put it behind glass Hornby do not build reliable locos any more
I vest in a TRIPOD to hold camera and enable you to use TWO hands
Is this the one from the NRM?
I think the real loco is at the NRM at Shildon (but is due to return to Darlington for the anniversary next year
This looks like a great model. Well done Hornby. Is there a speaker in the tender?
Yes there is - however there is not enough room for an HM7000 decoder so until Hornby release a smaller HM7000 you are looking at 3rd party options. Oh a and the instructions state the speaker is fixed in place, but mine came loose as I lifted up the tank - easily fixed so not a major issue
There is a sugar cube speaker in the tender
Nice motion from a cool looking loco, thanks for sharing.
Thanks for sharing this video 😊
It looks to be a fantastic collectors piece indeed. Thanks for putting the unboxing up as well as the rolling road first run as well as it will reassure a few folks in the Club to maybe invest in one, knowing our postal service today and the rough handling some things can get. Keep safe and keep warm. All the best with your Locomotion No.1. Cheers!
I must admit if I hadn't already opened it carefully with 2 hands and seen the internal packaging, I would not have shaken it open with one hand as I did in the video
Mine is faulty. It jerks, stops and only runs properly with a squeak at full power. Not exactly the 15mph real version speed. It's better forwards but terrible in reverse, so mine is going back.
Are they Bachmann locos?
The 4-4-0 D Class is a Rails of Sheffield commission by Dapol, the 0-4-4T H class is by Hornby, the 0-6-0T P Class is by Hattons, The 0-6-0T Terrier is by Hornby,. There is also a glimpse of Hornby's T9 in LSWR livery
Lovely coaches and layout. What loco is pulling them please?
The locos hauling carriages are is City of Truro by Bachmann (NRM / Locomotion Commission) & SECR C Class 583 (also by Bachmann
Thank you 👍@@cwmpencwrwmodelrailway1801

Thanks for posting this excellent video - very useful indeed. I've been putting off tackling my Small England for some time, no excuse now!
Thanks - I hope it helps - much easier to do when you see how easy it is to move the wires and copper strips away from the motor and body giving loads of space to get the soldering iron in without having to worry about it touching something you don't want it to touch
Neat!
Do be aware that the Hornby model of "Tiger" is a piece of fiction and it never looked like that, and that Lion has only looked the way it does today since 1930. 🙂 ruclips.net/video/9L78b7a53CE/видео.html
Classic beauties.
👍🚂Love them both!
What are you using for the loads on the Hornby flatbeds? They look excellent!
The tarpaulin covered crates are one of the items in the Hornby R8599 pack. The resin sack loads are stamped Harburn Hamlet on the underside (I think I got them from eBay). In both cases I used a small bit of blue tack to stop then sliding around on the wagons in the curves
Looks great 👍 thanks for sharing 🙏
Hi, great video.
What sound decoder and sound file are fitted to the Bachmann class 08?
Does anyone know the release date. I have preorderd a train set but no idea when it's coming
Not confirmed by Hornby yet although I believe their original plans have suffered a delay. Maybe todays Q&A with Hornby (on youtube) will answer this.
Looking forward also
Nice looking forward to mine arriving.
Very good / c😎😎l - I like what I see - thanks for sharing 🙂🚂🚂🚂
Nice. Can't wait till my pre ordered items come!
