Crochet Feather Stitch - Tutorial 1
Love the subtle change of colour in your blankets. Now I know how you do it! I love the moss stitch. Currently I'm working on a moss stitch wrap. I'm also using different colours but I'm doing one row of each colour, repeating until I run out of yarn. Then 3 more colours. Loving the fabric it creates. Thanks for the video!
@@heatherf833 thanks Heather. I love the fabric of moss stitch too. Your wrap sounds lovely.
It was so nice spending time with you again Maureen, I used to Cross Stitch in the 90s & the 2000’s too 💖💖
Add me to your list of fans when it comes to color. Just beautiful. You definitely have an eye for it. I’m about to make your pillow covers and can only hope to do as well with color.
@@lambertfever thankyou Tara. Im sure your cushion cover will look amazing. Keep an eye out for Part 2. I’ll be demonstrating how to blend solid colours as an alternative to using variegated or tonal yarns. 🌺🌼🌸
So so pretty. What are you going to do with all these pillows? How did the one turn out that you were doing with your daughter?
@@CuriousinNY Ive kept 3 in my home. Yellow, peach and this one. That’s it. 😀 I think I’ve made enough. The gum leaf green one and pink are my daughters. She hasn’t finished hers yet. I want to make a blanket in this pattern next.

I would have kept the joining stiches the same color as the sections... love that color..
@@deborahb.3736 thats a great alternative too. Because I used two different tones I wanted a contrast colour but using the same colour would look lovely also. So many possibilities. Thanks for your comment. I might try that next time.

WOW! You have a masterful eye for color. ! Would you consider applying your talent to “color tutorial” videos? I’ve never seen anything beyond basic color theory and the color wheel (yawn) on RUclips. Your palettes are striking and it would be fascinating to watch how you select colors as well as how you arrange them. I am so excited by this! A bunch of video ideas are exploding in my head….
@@alexsandra9000 thanks Alexandra. I’m overwhelmed by your compliment. I would like to do a video on colour blending. I must admit I’ll have to have a good think about how to do that. I’ve never really analysed how I choose my colours. To be honest it kind of just happens as I go with a blanket. I don’t have an exact technique about it, it’s more by feel of what I think looks good at the time. Sometimes it works and sometimes I’ll start and then pull it out when I hold it away from me and think it doesnt. I’d love to hear your ideas. Email me with some suggestions if you have any and I’ll work on it.
@@CrochetCavalier oh this could be fun. I will try to send an email tomorrow!

@CrochetCavalier He's done a marvellous job! What a stunning space to spend your time! 😍 Your colourways are absolutely complimenting your garden, and you should be really proud of them 🤗💗🧶
@@MelsYarniverse I must admit sometimes it’s planned and sometimes it’s by accident that it matches the garden. I dyed a bright blue and then saw it matched our blue glazed pots. It’s all just playing and experimenting at the moment. I think I’ll be a one of a kind dyer not a mass production line.
@@CrochetCavalier I LOVE that idea! 😍 That means every single hank you make is 100% unique, and that's wonderful! I like that you make enough for your project and then try something new, that's just great! It's very inspiring to watch you do this. If I had the right space I'd love to give it a go, but for now, I'm happy watching you experiment because you explain it so well and make it look so easy, even though I'm sure it's not 💗💗🧶🧶
Thanks for this review, I have seen these hooks in Spotlight and have wondered how they would feel, I’ve always bought Clover Hooks so this was good to see the difference.
@@OllieandMay I bought this set for a young friend who is just starting to crochet. I thought it made a nice gift for her to have the different sizes. They look great and if it was 30 years ago I would have used them myself but once you change to Clover hooks and feel the difference there’s no going back is there. Still they’re a great starter kit and the price was amazing.

This is a wonderful tutorial, thank you. If we wanted to make the squares bigger, would we just repeat the pearls in subsequent rows until we've reached the size and then put on the corner row?
@@melsmerk9262 Hi Mel, I haven’t tried that myself yet. I’ll make one up soon and see what the count is to add more rows of puffs and video that soon. @ Good for both of you. Enjoy your time together. What’s the weather like there today?
@ It’s Summer here. We have 29-30C (84-86F) everyday for 2 weeks. We had lots of rain last month but it’s good beach 🏖️ weather now.
@ So you only have a rainy and dry season? It’s winter here and depending on where you live in the US it can be cold and lots of snow or warm with green grass. I live in the northern half of the country. So this week we are going to be in the low 20s F or -6 C with anywhere of 12-24 inches of snow accumulated by Sunday. We have a storm starting this afternoon and running through sunday afternoon. Time to be snuggled down under my crochet blanket I am working on and drinking Tea.
@ sounds very cosy. Our climate is sub tropical. In Winter it can get to 5-15C but maybe only for a few weeks. 10 months of the year is sunny and warm and then Summer can be rainy or sunny but humid. It doesn’t often get over 30C.

These are all beautiful. Your crochet patterns and colors are amazing, not to mention your workmanship and attention to detail.
@@paulettewaller9833 that’s so kind of you to say Paulette. Thankyou so much. I find it all so relaxing. From choosing colours to a pattern to sitting and crocheting and then seeing it evolve in my lap as it grows. Are you also a knitter or crocheter? 🌺🌸🌼
@ I crochet and knit and love them both. I was taught to crochet as a child by my mother and I was 30 when I learned to knit. My sister taught me what she knew which was the knit and purl stitches, that was about it lol. Of course all we had was books to learn with back then so that was quite a struggle. I gave up on knitting for a long time, then my sister and I took a sock class at a local yarn shop and I was hooked again on knitting. I knitted socks for everyone, lol. You could say I love a good challenge and am obsessed with both crocheting and knitting.
@ same same. I learnt to crochet at 8 and made granny squares. Then progressed to doileys and handkerchiefs at 12. Then stopped it for many years. Like you we only knitted pearl and knit stitches. Scarves 🧣 was all I could do. I did a lot of cross stitch in my 20-40s but ran out of walls to hang them on. I went back to crochet and never looked back. I also taught myself sock knitting and make the family a new pair each Winter but I’m very slow at knitting. I’ve always loved craft and doing things with my hands.
@ That’s so funny how our stories coincide. As a child I didn’t understand how to read a crochet pattern, so I just crocheted around in a circle and made up the pattern as I went along. Actually it was just practice for single and double crochet, but it kept my hands busy and it was fun. Then later I did lean how to read pattern instructions and graduated to afghans I think we called them, but none like yours. Your’s are all so beautiful. Today I volunteer at my church with a group of ladies and crochet prayer shawls for cancer patients and anyone needing something to comfort them during an illness or after surgery. In-between that I have started making a few little stuffed animals for family and neighbors and have posted some of my projects on Ravelry.
@ I’ll have a look at your Ravelry patterns. I have one on there too. Are you on Instagram? What’s your account if you do? I’m on Instagram as @crochetcavalier I made a lot of shawls a few years back. Now I mainly make blankets for family, friends and those who have lost someone or who have cancer.
Thank you. They're beautiful ❤️❤️
