Spot on retrospective I have same exact view the weird music with the cops in 5 is because of that weird French director they had he told them to walk like penguins also
LOL, "walk like penguins" is a pretty great director instruction, even if it doesn't fit with the movie. Glad you liked the video!

If you hold up the original as the template-as most people seem to do(and rightfully so)...I think you can make a case that there are ONLY 4 movies in the series. 1, 2, 4, and 5. Those all center around the original premise...Michael stalking people, and Loomis stalking HIM....and all set against the backdrop of Halloween. Hardly any of the other movies even TRIED to replicate this approach.
That's a really fair point. I do always feel like 5 was the last real Halloween movie. Even the ones that are decent after that don't truly feel like part of the same franchise.
Halloween ll in my opinion is the best sequel in the franchise. It's the only one outside of Season of the Witch that has that Carpenter magic that made the original so good. Even though he didn't direct it, it contains the atmospheric creepiness that only Carpenter can deliver. Add to that the cinematography of Dean Cundey, and it outshines the rest. SOTW is close behind, despite having NO Myers.
I can accept that. It's not one of my personal favorites, but you are definitely right about it having that Carpenter vibe and flavor. That style really is the soul of the franchise.

I totally agree. I actually assumed most of the vehicles I didn't own as a kid came with pack-in foot soldiers, only to learn that wasn't true when I grew up.

Great video, man! Glad to see a new installment! Mikey had some great variants! Raph was my favorite as a kid so I got his variants the most, but I think Mikey was second since his designs were so cool. Totally agree on that new Super7 Rappin' Mike, too--something about it feels a bit flat. I think part of the appeal of sculpting all those details into the figure is that they add life to the sculpt and make it feel like one cohesive piece. By making them separate pieces it doesn't have the same energy. The fact that Playmates' original sculpts were all totally original gave them a lot of life--it seems like Super7 starts with the base turtle sculpt and alters it from there. Kinda like NECA parts-sharing with their early toon figures, when you really want every figure to feel unique and fully-realized. I get the reasons behind it, but it's still kind of a bummer. And I actually liked those crazy Pizza Tossin' figures as a kid! It felt like TMNT mixed with Rat Fink! 😆
Yeah, I believe Super 7 does always use the same standard turtle base for all turtle figures. You definitely hit the nail on the head about why it should all be one cohesive sculpt and not separate pieces. I also feel they just miss a lot of the personality of the figures, too. Several of the items hanging from Mike's belt are gone in the Super 7 one, and his shirt is no longer ripped up, just clean and looking brand new. And, wow, that's actually a really good way of describing the Pizza Tossers. They really do look like Rat Fink art, and, honestly, seeing them through that lease does make them seem way cooler.
Mike Bandito is my favorite but can't see it in your review 😢
I actually had a lot to say about Bandito Bashin' Mike, but unfortunately I no longer own him, and he's pretty expensive complete these days. I might breifly cover him when I talk about Crazy Cowboy Don since that's the only Wild West Turtle I still own.

Thanks. They called him "Mike" all throughout the toyline, and they actually never called him "Mikey" in the 87 cartoon either, I believe. The only bit of media I was exposed to as a kid that actually called him "Mikey" were the live action movies (I believe that's where it originated). So most of my life I just knew him as "Mike". It just sort of stuck.

On a scale of 1 to 10, what rating would you give Ruby Gillman?
Probably a 5. Didn't do anything particularly great, but also is a totally fine animated kids movie. My biggest issue with it is probably just that the whole film feels kind of like wasted potential. I think it needed more time to develop and flesh out that Universal didn't give it.

In all honesty, I'm in the TMNT Ultimates line for a few figures. I currently have all four turtles, the flocked version of Splinter and soon I'll have all four glow in the dark turtles. I think the glow in the dark figures are pretty neat. I plan to get the glow in the dark versions of Baxter Stockman, the Foot Soldier, Slash and Mutagen Man.
Just had to come back to this to say I don’t know if it was intentional or not but the Sexy Rat King jump scare at 9:25 had me dying lol

Missed ya, man. I did see both zitz and radh at my local F. Y. E. I do have a minor complaint about Zitz's eye paint, but it's alright for the most part. It's sad to see the party wagon go out from the lair, but it's for the best, at least for now.
Thanks. I forgot to say that I do kinda wish the black paint on Rash's shades was glossier and more reflective, but that's definitely not a deal breaker for me. I had a lot of fun doing the podcast, but, yeah, unfortunately it just wasn't really working out. Who knows, it could always return some day.
The problem with this ranking is that not all movies you included are actual official canon entries of the Universal Monster franchise. Universal has established the canon franchise with their 30 film DVD/Blu-Ray box set. Films like The Old Dark House and The Black Cat are classic universal “horror” films, but not classic universal “monster” films, not part of the monster franchise.
All 30 universal classic monster movies are absolutely amazingly awesome.
Your channel is top notch and is one of my favorites. Looking forward to more TMNT action figure videos.

Why are you always wrong
It's weird how many times Super7 has been dropping the ball when it comes to the accessories' sizing. Foot Soldier's "can opener" can't be placed on his back, the bottom part of Baxter Stockman's swatter not fitting on his wrist etc. I think their brand manager (or something like that) has said that the 2003 TMNT were his turtles growing up, so that could somewhat explain why these functionalities of the older accessories are lacking here and there.
That would honestly explain things. The accessories feel like they are being made by someone who has studied what they look like, but never played with them.
Oh man, your podcast was my favourite. Your topics always revolved around the exact same parts of TMNT fandom that I too love the most, so I was always stoked to hear your opinions on everything. Big thanks for all the episodes so far and looking forward to your future videos!

The reason why they have snow on the ground in this version, is because they filmed it on location in Utah in the dead of winter.
