What kind of mirrors are those?
@JP-rh8qr universal bar end mirrors. I got em on Amazon. They're about $35 i think
@@Matthewsmith-2024 I really like how those mirrors look, I'm thinking about picking this bike up , would you send a link to them?
You mentioned you were a big guy... May I ask height and weight? I'm 5'10" and 225. And for me the suspension jars me pretty hard. I upped the preload a couple notches, but I don't want it to be too stiff, since my wife is 100 pounds less. Where do you have yours set? I wouldn't mind upgrading the suspension to accommodate my weight , but don't want to do that if it won't be appropriate for her. So I might try a seat cushion of some sort to take the edge of a bit. Do bad roads jar you pretty bad? Otherwise I love the bike! Thanks for any feedback you have!
@jonathandayne I'm 6'3 at 230 the suspension could be better for sure. I just figured I was spoiled from riding dirt bikes my whole life. Haven't really moved my preload more than a noch from stock. I did recently get a seat cover to add a little more cushion for the longer rides, and so far, it's been fantastic. Also, great on cutting down the vibrations. That said, the bumps in the road still hit. I usually just shift my weight to the pegs if I can't avoid a bump outright.
Im deciding between the Kawasaki Eliminator 450 & the Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 , Eliminator is lighter bike & more powerful , but the Enfield has much more dash technology, so im torn between the two bikes 🤔🤔 Ate you familiar with the Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 ??? & have an opinion between Kawasaki Eliminator & Royal Enfield Guerrilla ??? Steve from Bundaberg Australia 🇦🇺🕺🍹
Just looked into the 450 Guerrilla. It's a handsome bike for sure. In terms of fashion, I'd say they're about on par, but I am biased towards the eliminator. When you look at function. It really depends on what kind of riding you'll be doing. If you're mostly going to be on country roads cruising, either one would be excellent. The 450 Guerrilla might be a bit better in the suspension on the rougher roads. If you're wanting to venture on the highway from time to time. The eliminator would be better suited. As for the technology, I'm afraid I'm not the best one to ask. The dash & sat nav, and all seem cool, but as long as i have tac, speedo, and fule, I'm content. I just use my phone for everything else.
@Matthewsmith-2024 Thanks Smithy 😝👍🕺
I always call January and February "the evil months"
got mine at 2,009 miles , love it . the bike is my daily commute . what I noticed you changed the side mirriors . can you please tell where to get them. the stock ones dont give enough view. thank you
@rimonshamon8607 Awesome! I got them on Amazon. They're universal barend mirrors. I think they're like $35
what bar end mirrors are those mate? great video! just got an eliminator for myself too!
@@equalfps Awesome! I got those on Amazon. They're universal bar end mirrors. I think they were about $35
@@Matthewsmith-2024 i think i got them, or something crazy similar at least! did you had to remove the whole weight from inside the bar or you just screw it in the end of the tip? that sounded weird huh? haha!
@@equalfps Ha! I just put them on my bar end weights since they give u stuff to adjust them to fit. As long as they're tightly bolted they should stay on no problem. I've had mine on for months without issue.
thanks for the video!
I'm between this or rebel 500, so hard to decide
@equalfps I like both. Had to go with the eliminator because of my height. Just didn't fit on the rebel. The rebel is an excellent looking bike, but I may be a little bise in favor of the eliminator since it's the one I bought. They're both about on par with power/fule economy. The eliminator might be slightly more efficient, but the difference is negligible. I say go with whichever one you could see yourself riding for years.
@@Matthewsmith-2024 183 cm here so I think eliminator will be a lot comfier. Thanx for replying 😊
Go the Kawasaki Eliminator 🏍👍😃
@@stevewilson8752 I did! Riding it for 3 weeks now, thanx!! Ride safe
im between eliminator and rebel 500, i love the aesthetics of rebel but i think eliminator is a better machine overall
I have the same color, have probably the same phone mount. I swapped the mirrors with the Vulcan S mirrors. Those are decent.
Few reviewers have mentioned that the Eliminator might get boring after a period of owning, what do you think about that?
@rajeevwx I would kind of agree. It depends on what you do and who you ride with. If you ride on the highway a lot and / or with people who like to go past cars like they're standing still, then yeah, you'll likely get tired of the eliminator quickly. If you do a lot of riding on long, twisty country roads, then you'll enjoy the eliminator for a lot longer. Personally, I go back and forth on if I want something faster or not. I usually just think I want something faster whenever people with faster bikes blow right past me on the highway, and I'm not going slow either. They'll just be doing like 110-120 😅
@@Matthewsmith-2024 Got it. Thank you :) Eliminator can also do 130 easily few people mentioned
You sound like lightning McQueen ❤ 😂
Thank you for ur feedback!! Which state is this? I am in MI and am looking for one but the city roads here realky suck for bike ride.
This is northern Georgia. Most riding I do is on country roads between GA NC & TN
I got my Eliminator in May, 3,000 miles already! I absolutely love this bike. I'm with you on the seat. That is the only thing I would replace. I use my bike for almost all of my transportation, my truck sits like yours. I added a small windshield as I'm on the interstate equal amounts to the back roads. Very helpful to combat the wind. I am not a fan of cruisers, but I swear this isn't a cruiser. It's quick and nimble, and has all the power I need. Love this bike!
How about the mirrors? I just got it, 150 Kms ago, and I already hate them... all I see is shoulders.
@@SasoStojanovski I expected to have to replace them because every review has that complaint. However, I am a 5'4" woman... I'm guessing since my shoulders are less broad, they work fine for me 🤷
Glad I came across this update review on the Eliminator! Question: how are high speed rides with no windshield? Is that an accessory that can be added?
@TheGreystoneManor The wind is pretty rough. There's basically nothing diverting the airflow. I'm sure you can get a windshield, but I haven't looked. My commute is rather short, and aside from that, I'm mostly on country roads. I could've used one on my trip to tail of the dragon. That day was about 7 hours of riding. I'd recommend one if you're gonna be on the highway a lot.
@@TheGreystoneManor I decided to put a 12" tall windshield on mine, it has helped a ton. I'm 5'4" and have a short torso, so it works fine for me, but if you're taller, the wind might still get your face and head. I think I got mine off T-Rex website. There is a 16" tall shield as well. Really easy to install.
@@susanl3136 this is awesome! Thank you so much for the info! I’ll be checking out that windscreen because I’m 5’10” and would love something to break up the wind around my torso
Appreciate these Eliminator updates, found your channel through them, as I want to get my own once I grab my license in October. (hopefully🤞) Looking forward to future updates and what your plans are for the bike. Ride safe! 😉
Thanks very much! Best of luck getting your license and bike in October 🎃
@@Matthewsmith-2024 Thanks! ^_^
@@n3on_w1tchyoooo did you get your L’s? I got my Eliminator today!! Pearl Storm Gray!! Non ABS of course! 😂😂😂
Love my verys 650... have not ridden the eliminator ....
is there a skid plate for this bike ?
@tyrondawson7979 Yes, I believe so. I thought about getting one, but haven't gotten around to it.
Thank you for the honest review!
Oh no, Jordon peterson?
Getting lost with gas in the tank is fun… getting lost looking for a gas station is not as fun. 😅
Dope video bro!
Dope!
Ohio rider, here. Bundling up to ride in winter is just part of the experience. I’ve even commuted to work a few times in snow out of necessity. Autumn is the my favorite riding weather.
How is the engine vibration compared to Rebel?
@rajeevwx I'm not sure I never rode the rebel. I imagine it's rather similar since they're both similar sized parallel twins. You can feel it on the tank and frame pretty well, but the pegs and handlebars do a good job suppressing vibrations. The seat does ok, but I did start to notice the vibrations after about an hour.
What size is the handle bars trying to get bar end for this bike because stock mirrors blow looking at my shoulder doesn’t work any one could let me go the right direction and I see he has replacements on his
@danieldavis3271 I don't have measurements, but I bought some universal bar end mirrors on Amazon, and they've worked out great
@@Matthewsmith-2024 thank you
I got the 2023 dlx efi and love it. About 75 on flat. 60 is a great speed for this bike
I jave a Hawk 250 efi love it
Im right there with you on "I dont understand why people want to go that fast". you're absolutely right. honestly maybe Im in the minority but 50-60mph is my ideal comfort zone , I can go faster when I need to and on a straight away sure its fun for a bit, but theres really no good reason to ever be doing more than 75 on 4 wheels, let alone 2...
The Eliminator might be my next motorcycle. If people can ride bicycles and 49 cc motor scooters around the world, then riding a 451 cc motorcycle that can go 90+ mph can too. It's NOT TOO SMALL! I ride a 125 cc scooter everywhere except Interstate highways. It has a top speed of around 55 mph. I love it but want my one hour plus commute to be thirty-five minutes instead. Being able to ride on the freeways will save me an hour a day. I owned a 2001 Kawasaki LTD 500 Vulcan. It was 50 pounds heavier than the Eliminator with two less horsepower. It was as quick and fast as 800 cc cruisers because it weighed 200 pounds less. Lighter is better. The Eliminator has more horsepower than the Honda 750 Shadows so it will be quicker. Top speed on MANY 800 cc and larger cruisers is around 95-110. One isn't giving up much by riding a 450. The money savings is really substantial. The $10,000+ 1312 cc Honda Fury is limited at 100 mph. The big bikes just ride smoother because they weigh so much. I just learned that the Eliminator's speedometer is off by five to six mph. My inexpensive scooter's analog speedometer is off by that much too. One would expect a $7000 motorcycle's totally digital speedometer to be calibrated correctly.
I have the same bike as you. Love the bike but should be an option to come with cruise control. I’m 71 and it doesn’t take long for hand to get tired. I don’t know what good aftermarket type cruise to get
I did the 300cc big bore kit.i recommend this along with up grades to sprockets. Makes these hawks super moto,s.lol.fun.dont evan have to clutch it to wheely.
Great video.note to any one reading comment,s.tubes inside tires.has always caused friction. Thus born tubeless tires for street bikes..running your enduro down the pavement at high speed,s will cause heat.buying friction resistance tubes helps but there is always a risk at 65.
Mirror extensions worked perfect for me! I rode the Vulcan S and the Eliminator. Chose the Eliminator as on the test ride I knew it was the bike for me!
How’s it like for extended time on the highway?
It's good. The vibrations get to you after a while. The seat is fairly comfortable. The most I've done is 6 hours and after that I was spent. I'd say about 3 hrs before it starts getting rather uncomfortable.
I’ve had the Eliminator since Saturday and I’ve already put 500 miles on it, I agree with throttle therapy. The way I look at it it’s like doomscrolling but instead of reels and videos, it’s nature which is alot more soothing and relaxing. I find myself always looking for an excuse to ride because it’s so much fun, I’m 20 years old and when I ride it’s like I’m back at 10 wishing I was riding with all those cool people riding motorcycles but now it’s actually me riding which is pretty surreal, I got out of a 4.5 year relationship and I was also engaged to this girl found out she was cheating and I left the same day. ever since I’ve gotten my motorcycle (used to have a Rebel 300) I’ve been worrying less about the future and just trying to live in the moment. I can worry about that stuff when it comes to it. Sorry for the long comment :-)
It's great to hear from you. I hope things are improving, and I agree 100% it is like doomscrolling, but much healthier. If you ever find yourself in Georgia. Hit me up. We'll go for a ride. Stay safe out there and stay strong.
Yeah man I live my life a quarter mile at a time too!! 😃
As far as loud pipes save lives goes. I'm a former Federal LEO and we're trained to assume drivers are in their own world and likely won't see lights and sirens. I take that same mindset into my motorcycle riding and assume. Also you're a goof about the therapy take lol. Therapy works on correcting cognitive distortions. Black and white thinking, perfectionism, that kinda shit. Seen it be super useful for some. Riding a bike is great, but at some point you have to hop off and get back to navigating life. See you on the road! 🤙
You seem to be misunderstanding. The pipes point is not a question of how you should ride. It's a simple observation that, yes, it can make drivers more aware of your presence, thus having the potential to save you from a crash with an unaware driver. That doesn't change the fact that all riders should be acting as if they're invisible. Looks like you also did the same for the therapy comment. Again, I said very clearly that it is useful, but I also think it's over prescribed these days. I don't think you should run to the hospital every time you scrape your knee. But that doesn't mean I think hospitals are useless or don't have value. I think sometimes people feel down, and rather than jumping right to therapy, maybe having a new/fun activity can help lighten the mood. For me, it's riding, but it can be anything really. As long as it gets you out in the world and/or helps you make new friends and connections.
I'm still watching the video, but how are you liking your mirror mod? I have the same motorcycle and usually just look at my elbows in mine.
It's a massive upgrade over the stock mirrors imo. I can now see behind me with just a quick glance. They're very low profile, too, which I appreciate. They do vibrate a bit more than the stock ones. So I do have to pull in the clutch now and then at the higher rpms to see clearly, but on low to medium, it's perfectly clear.
Love it trying to get a motorcycle
Mine too. Where is this? Beautiful
The north Georgia twisties. Not too far from tail of the dragon 🐉
@@Matthewsmith-2024 nice, I've ridden it. WNC
Just put a down payment on an eliminator and picking it up this Saturday!! Your video was a huge motivator going from a 2023 Rebel 300 to the eliminator!
Awesome, man! Glad I could help. Stay safe out there and have fun 🤘
I just got mine two days ago. Love it. I really like the color Orange. 😄
I saw a prior review where you talked about the exhaust. I'd love to know what your solution was. I've been more seriously window shopping these bikes with the announcement of the Plaza Edition. Been wanting a good option for exhaust and mirrors.
So far, I've kept the stock exhaust on. I kinda like how quiet it is when I leave for work in the morning. If/when I upgrade it, I'll definitely make a video with all the info.
Just got my Eliminator 2 weeks ago and rdie it everyday. I've had a Shadow, and a 400 Suzuki Bandit in the past. This is the perfect marriage for me of those styles. Handles great, plenty of power. I had heard that the mirrors were terrible from many reviews, but have had no problems with them. Being a woman, i might just be the right size for them. This is a great bike!
Are you on the stock seat? I'm thinking of getting the same bike as my very first and I only sat on it at dealership. Felt great, but not sure if that'd translate if I actually rode the thing. Bike felt nice and low but again not sure if in real driving condition I'd regret not getting the taller factory seat. I'm six feet tall so shorter than you, if that stock seat and low seating position is working out for you long term it has to work out for me.
So far, the stock seat seems to be working out great for me. I could definitely see getting a more comfortable seat for longer rides, but it feels fine for the first 3 or 4 hours. After that, I started to get tired of it.
@@Matthewsmith-2024 Great ti hear that! Yeah wouldn’t imagine being on a saddle for that long myself, 3 hours more than what I’m looking for at least initially. Thanks for sharing and love the long form videos. Can’t wait to start my own journey. Best of luck and stay safe 👍
@@samita137I'm 6'1” and it's a tad uncomfortable for longer rides, but it's a WIP. It's the highway speeds that get me. My torso's longer so that chest wind blows. I still can't find the right tucking position yet. Tbh I've been looking at upgrading already to the new GSX-8R. Take a look at it! The Eliminator's my first bike, but I'm outgrowing it already for sure.
@@XxFunkMachinexX thanks a bunch. I actually ended up with a 2023 Triumph Trident leftover that was deeply discounted, was only a few hundreds more than the eliminator I was eying so was kind of a no brainer. The legroom is definitely much larger which I would assume all these middleweight nakeds/sports would have. But the lack of a windscreen also makes highways not that pleasant. I’ve built better tolerance but it’s still not the best. Safe riding and best of luck 👍
I bought a hawk 250 efi in 2020. Ended up cutting down the dirtbike hump on the seat putting oldschool leather on it. Swapping the front headlight/assembly for a round headlight off amazon. Put saddle bags/accesories. New battery. New clutch levers. New exhaust this will take knowing how to weld on newer hawks.new chain. Obviously new lube for everything ie oil. As well new tires and a wheel lock. This motorcycle has over 25k miles no problems on it. Ive riden legit everywhere in idaho on some of the nasty mosy bike dropping trails you can imagine. Not only does the hawk do it but i wish youtube would let me show a picture. With just these simple mods the hawk 250 looks like an old school retro cafe bike. I legit have yet to take this bike out to not have someone asking me questions on it. For only being maybe $2000 in with all mods idk pretty nice deal. My ducati monster obviously ripps more but sometimes you just want a pos that just works. The hawk 250 is that bike if you have some knowledge on how to work on things
I've done the Tail of the Dragon in a car many times, but I haven't tried it on a bike yet. The whole area is beautiful.
Piece of crap!!!!!
I bought a used hawk dlx and i never heard about adjusting the valves. Ive seen guys do it but only when they upgraded the motor to a 300cc. What are the symptoms of having the valves too tight? I haven't noticed anything abnormal that i can tell. I get the occasional backfire that's about it
If you bought used you should be alright. The problems would've likely come early on if you were to have any. I've heard that if they're too tight, it can cause damage to the engine if you overwork it. However, I've also heard with most motorcycles the valves loosen up on their own as part of the break-in period. The hawk is unique in that I've heard from a lot of people that the factory has them way too tight, and you should loosen them up yourself. I didn't end up doing that. I just went real easy breaking in the bike, and it seems ok so far. So fingers crossed 🤞
I just bought the 2024 dlx fuel injected. I know I had about 950 miles on it and seen a video of someone on Facebook who had 1,000 miles on his and didn't adjust the valves and was sitting on the side of the highway and whe he was trying to start the bike, sounded like the motor was destroyed. So i adjusted my valves on mine and they were super tight when I adjusted them. It made a huge difference, before it felt like it was a bunch of air coming through, vibration and loss of power. After, power is back, smooth. Makes a HUGE difference. It's actually pretty easy if you just take your time and do it. Highly recommend it
