      @guybenett4571 the boat was very new to me then. I have now fitted a furling / reefing headsail and would have 2 reefs in the main in those conditions. Helm is very light with the 2 reefs.

      I am assuming you are talking AUD. It sounds a little high but not unreasonable, everything has become so expensive in the past 3 years since the pandemic. I am pretty sure the main rails are T6, we have travelled around 10,000km and all good so far.

    Hi How did you calculate where the axle is positioned to get the correct tow ball weight? Nice job to.

    • @ronjesche689
      @ronjesche689 Год назад

      I would like to say it was carefully calculated, but a bit of luck was involved! Before starting we found caravans with the interior layout we liked and pretty much coppied that. I then measured wheel placement on production vans and scaled it to suit. Ball weight is around 150 to 170 kg The van tows very well at all speeds on all road surfaces . Around 10,000km travelled so far and very happy.

    Thank you so much for the detailed video. The translator of subtitles from RUclips does not shine with perfection, but we almost understood everything. :))) Of course, there are still questions - for example, where is the fuel tank and where is it best to place it? How many liters does your boat have a tank for? Where is the battery located and what capacity does it have? Have you changed the alternator to a more productive one or is there enough regular to charge your battery? I think that many people who watch your channel would be happy to know the answers to these questions as much as we do. Thank you again for staying in touch with us.

      Yes, the boat will take more than I am comfortable with. I have been out in up to around 28 knots for a short time. 25 knots is still pretty comfortable and I feel very safe on board, but being a smallish boat the sea state will start to have an effect on boat speed.

    Thats a great job! May I ask why you use so much honeycomb and no insulation?

    • @ronjesche689
      @ronjesche689 3 года назад

      The honeycomb is the core between the 2 fibreglass skins. This then becomes a structural panel . I could have used a foam core , but more difficult as it would have needed to be vacuumed down. The foam would have had slightly better insulation properties, but the honeycomb comes close.👍
