    I’m not going to lie, I’m kinda blown away by the fact that your yard display just casually featured props from some pretty iconic films of the era, probably going largely unnoticed for all intents and purposes(like if I saw any of that back then, I would never know it was real). There’s just something special about that to me.

    • @GrimwoodHollow
      @GrimwoodHollow 6 месяцев назад

      Haha, you are so right! Nobody even knew that those were actual movie props in my yard, it’s so crazy to think back on! And you know what else is crazy, I actually just left that stuff out on my lawn for days! Omg! Anyone could have walked into my yard and ran off with an actual Freddy glove from Nightmare on Elm st 2, or a Carol Ann corpse from Poltergeist 2, or other props as well! What a different time! And it’s pretty insane that my boss at the FX shop I was working at just let me take whatever props I wanted to use in my Halloween display, I mean that is just freakin nuts haha! I can’t even imagine what those props would be worth today! Well thanks so much for watching, I’m so glad you enjoyed it! Cheers!🤣😱🎃👍

      Thank you so much for watching and for the kind words! I honestly haven’t made these for a few years now but if I do maybe I’ll film the whole process and do a video! do you think if i had a box and poured in the cement half full in the box and submerged my monster clay hand sculpt in the cement half way and a few things for registration keys that it would work? im out of clay for the divider walls and was wondering if anyone has ever tried it that way?

    • @GrimwoodHollow
      @GrimwoodHollow Год назад

      Hello my friend! Well honestly that is not a good way at all to do a two piece mold and I definitely would not recommend it! In theory it sounds like a good idea because it could eliminate the clay wall, but here is why you should never do it! Air bubbles rise, so if you pour the plaster in a box and then set your sculpture halfway into it, all the air bubbles will rise up right to your sculpture and then you will have a ton of air bubbles on the surface of your mold! I hope that makes sense? This is why you always want to pour your plaster or create your mold on top of your sculpt instead of from underneath, because this allows the air bubbles to actually rise up away from your sculpt and the surface of your mold! I hope that all makes sense and I hope it’s helpful! Cheers!👍

      @Grimwood Hollow indeed I understand..your mold is flawless and you make it look so simple. I have done a few and they never look as half as good as yours. It's almost easier sculpting the glove than making a perfect mold lol. It really is a art within itself. Great video and work. Guess I will have to buy clay for the wall. Thanks for the info 👍

    Let's say I make a plaster only mold like you and I want to make a gelatin print (homemade ballistic gel). Do you know what to do so that the gelatin, which is very fluid, does not escape from the mold when it is poured?

    • @GrimwoodHollow
      @GrimwoodHollow Год назад

      If it is a well made two piece mold the seam should be tight enough that the gelatin will not leak out. Obviously you will have to prop up your mold so you can fill it up, or you will need to slush cast it. If your gelatin starts to leak out of the part line of your mold then you can plug it up with some water based clay to stop the leak.

    • @zollen1234
      @zollen1234 Год назад

      @@GrimwoodHollow Thanks for your feedback, what do you mean by "to slush cast"? When you say "with some water based clay" that means clay like the consistency of cottage cheese?

    • @GrimwoodHollow
      @GrimwoodHollow Год назад

      @@zollen1234 Slush casting is also called roto casting, or rotational casting. It’s where you would pour just a small amount of gelatin into your mold first and then pick it up and rotate it around, slushing around the gelatin to cover the entire surface of the mold until it starts to cure and set up. This creates a “skin” of gelatin in your mold and also seals the seam (part line) then you can just fill the rest of the mold solid with more gelatin, foam, or other material. Water based clay is the type of clay used for ceramics and pottery, such as “WED Clay” which is the most popular water based clay used in the entertainment industry.

    • @GrimwoodHollow
      @GrimwoodHollow Год назад

    How long would you say it stays liquid? I need a lot and I need it to be relatively liquid

    • @GrimwoodHollow
      @GrimwoodHollow Год назад

      Honestly you will just have to experiment with it. It really all depends on how hot the temperature is when you heat it up, and it also depends on what the temperature in the room is as well. The colder it is the faster it sets up, and the hotter it is the more liquid it is. So again, you will just need to experiment with it. But if you are working with it for long periods of time definitely use a mug warmer like I demonstrated at the end of the video, this keeps it liquid the entire time you are working with it! Thanks for watching and good luck! Cheers!🎃👍
