Theme From Hoosiers (Concert Version) - Jerry Goldsmith

The London Symphony Orchestra performs a spirited version of the Hoosiers theme sans synthesizers. The sound on this rare recording is a bit tinny, but it is nonetheless such pure joy, I felt the need to share it.

Hello- I’m Nancy Beach, the arranger of this LSO Hoosiers concert suite. It was a pure pleasure working for Jerry Goldsmith, one of the greatest composers in film scoring. When he asked me to arrange Hoosiers, it was a joy to take the synth score and turn it into an orchestral suite. The countermelody of horns is unique to this version, and Jerry had great respect for the arranger’s artistic contributions. Thanks for all the gracious comments about this piece.

I still cling to the feeble hope that Jerry conducted some of his score for 'Psycho II' at one of his concerts but no luck finding it as yet.... He also should have done concerts entirely devoted to the Omen trilogy scores he composed. Hearing other cues from the film's aside from 'Ave Satani' would have been fantastic!

The BBC Concert Orchestra was perfect, and very loud! The brass section were on top form, and from where I was sitting the sound was fantastic. They were very happy times, and I have many amazing memories.

Back in the days when we had Jerry, Elmer, Hank and Ron Goodwin doing regular concerts - some not just confined to London. I remember the Mancini concert at the Royal Concert Hall was scheduled on a Bank Holiday and there was something else that day and there was hardly anybody there! it was 27.5.91. He died June 1994 so I never saw him again.
