    I kind of wish Briar Patch was super over powered. One of the biggest buffs they could add, is that if 2 briar patches touch, they merge into 1.

    Haven't played this yet, only played OMD3, it seems like the traps do more damge or the enemies die faster. The flyers seemed way to tough in Omd3. Is this true? Is it because you have upgraded traps? Also I love seeing the stats of all the traps.

      Ah, none of my traps are upgraded as the upgrade tree for the game is more important generally. For your first observation, you are correct, enemies do die faster at first but the game scales in difficulty the more maps you play. Flyers in OMD3 can be trivialized by using the stone staff.

    About the cooldown i think it creates interesting choice on how to place them for the best effect and instead spamming the one trap in different time intervals it pushes the player more to mix other traps between dispensers

    Ballista in all OMD have always had problems, slow firing, wonky aim and they aim on the first target which means they all aim at the same target wasting damage. They always only been useful as a 1 or 2 heavy hitting traps in many different areas to spread the damage around and not as a trap you can spam.

      True, in this game it appears you can get threads that allow them to only target one type of enemy which is classified as "heavy". idk what that means yet

    Yeah balista is good in theory but the targeting is way off. I had issues with it in OMD3 but it seems way worse now. Seems to target better in tight corridors but you'll generally want to use other traps there. Hopefully they fix this trap, it would be great if it was reliable.

    Felt pretty underwhelmed by the arrow wall trap. He range on the arrows seems less effective without the ability to make long passages with baricades. Wall scorcher is my favorite long range wall trap right now.

    I hope we'll get more traps than the ones shown so far and I especially hope we will see the return of War traps, OMD3 shines truly because of War Scenarios.

      We sure will! The devs said they pulled quite a few traps before this playtest release. I doubt we'll see any war scenario type traps make its way to omdd though. However, the flip trap has an upgrade to become twice as big, the size inbetween the normal flip trap and the giant one from omd3

    Acid shower feels good and strong. Usually too slow to kill kobolds though. The melting status in omd3 increased all physical damage by 50% so overall a good debuff. I was in the technical test too but wasn't able to try all traps. But here's my thoughts on the ceiling traps. Acid shower - High damage with good duration and coverage. Can't kill kobolds. Cieling Lasors - High damage with low duration and coverage. Can kill kobolds. Shock Zapper - Best overall damage trap for low ceilings Ballista - good small trap. Money buff (15 coins per kill) is great. Molton Gold - lower damage, decent money gain.

      I think the melting status was changed in OMDD but i'm not 100% sure on that. I totally agree with that list so far. I also like some weavers where arrow walls and boom barrel dispensers can be placed on ceiling as well. I thought while using this acid trap that par would pair very nicely with it.

    if that's the first map there's no way I'll be able to play this new game. I could barely keep track of where I needed to be on the old maps. Maybe they'll allow people to mod game and make maps, then I can just find custom maps that aren't so complicated.

      It's not "the first map" since the first map is one of 3 you get to choose when starting your run. I imagine modding will be easy and hopefully map making as well since its on UU5

    Did you get to try endless mode? If so how does it work? Will war maps be coming back?

      Great questions. There isn't a technical "endless" mode on any one map. However, when you beat a map you then get to keep your weavers (buffs) and threads (debuffs) map after map until you lose so the game is theoretically endless. I do not believe war maps will be coming back, RE didn't want to make such large maps again, even though these maps are quite large, they are an in between size from average OMD1,2,3 maps and war scenarios.

    The maps look decent, I was a little worried since we get a finite amount of cades about map layout but so far they seem to atleast be made with limited cades in mind so thats good. Then its just about traps, I hope we get a lot of traps to choose from. Really would need to play it myself to have a proper idea of how it will be so I cannot wait for release lol

      @@MotoManDan1 The only playable male human-like character is either an ambiguous asian-elf or some weird looking leper. The "women" you can pick from are also ambiguous asian and black. The rest of the player characters are animals. no white male player character, no white female player character. All characters look like they've been approved by sweet baby inc.

      1) I'm not sure what you mean by "ambiguous" in terms of the "Asian-elf" referring to Vaan, I would assume, or "Asian" referring to wren, however I personally don't get "Asian" from Vaan, just generically white, probably Greek or Italian. As for Wren, I'm not sure I get Asian from her either, more like Persian. Additionally, I assume your statement is to reflect this being an issue. Why do you believe that it is an issue? 2) The "weird looking leper" I infer is Mac, with the wrench weapon. I appears his character design is somewhat lore based, and new lore at that, since it says he is a "Riftkin". This I am excited to see if Robot dives further into the lore of OMD since it's been a bit all over the place. 3) About there being "no white male... female player character". Does a game need that to be playable? I enjoy the character roster we have. Lore wise that would not be necessary. 4) Character appearance aside, if they were all represented by transparent cubes, what about the character kits and skills did you like/ not like?

      @@MotoManDan1 By "ambiguous" I mean you can't tell what kind of asian it is, just that it is vaguely Asian. I guess if you don't mind woke ideology in your games then it is not a problem for you. I however will not support sweet baby inc levels of DEI with a single cent because it ruins games, just look at the new dragon age game. That's what will happen to this franchise too. Soon your rift heroes will talk about the Orc's gender identity and doing push-ups as penance for misgendering.

      I disagree that would be the fate of this game as there has yet to be any amount of "woke" thus far in the franchise. I believe "wokeness" would not fit well within the lore or story of the game and would ultimately detract from the sole basis of the game (I also believe the devs know this). Something as far away from the game as individual identity outside general population representation I believe would be unlikely. I have also begun to infer, by reading your comments, that instead of being a fan of the franchise and thus this game, you are in fact just venting about this game having, or not having, certain character representation. If my inference is truly the case, that would make your idea to have this representation changed from what it currently is to some ideological one you have created "woke". Therefor, by focusing on character representation to avoid "wokeness" you are in fact promoting "wokeness". Unless my inference is incorrect and you truly are a concerned fan?

    based on the info Mac feels the worst following Kalos as a melee and attack locking you in place makes this character ppor choice agianst flyiers, maybe in some 3-4 party combo it will be usefull. Wren and Harlow feels strongest and rest somewhere in the middle. Skill tree looks super simple and boring it does the job of progression illusion but hope they add some more interesting upgrades

      Yeah they mentioned they will be revamping the skill tree for heroes. That overview is just the heroes at their base, there are threads/weavers you get when playing that buff them in unique ways.

      Edit: additionally its not required. It's actually something I asked for. I wish they did a better job at tutorials in OMD!3, I really liked the tutorial in OMD!U. Must remember there will be brand new players to TD games or to OMD franchise that might not know some of the basics.

      I would have thought the same thing, but then I watched a few people play OMD3 when it came out and.... Several people failed clearing some maps even at Apprentice difficulty while many others either never used barricades or placed 10 of them before wave 1.

      ha, unfortunately the guides wont be so easy to follow since there is a lot of rng. ***subject to change*** The flip trap is still good but theoretically not the best ne more. it requires upgrades and even then can't effect everything.

      I got into this test release also. Flip trap is good after you get the thread buffs and not before. The buffs alloe you to launch trolls and ogres. And they go flying unlike the trip you get in omd3.
