    Hi friend! Those are inner liners for the SW Motech bags (if they are the Blaze). Absolutely waterproof sensitive electronics when im touring. I too am am big fan of the Michelin, I replaced my first set at 20,000km...insane! With only minor cupping! I guess we are super smooth with our on road, track moments 😅

      Thanks for stopping by friend 😊I rarely get caught in the rain as I ride mostly within a three hour radius of my home and don't head out on days that look crappy. Yesterday was blue skies and all clear on the weather apps. Oh well. I'm very happy with my SW Motech bags and my Sargent seat and rear pod. All solid investments for the RS. Like I said in the video, I've talked to some people claiming they got only 5,000 miles out of their Road 6. I'm thinking they either really like having new tires all the time or they ride the Fug out of them doing burnouts, extreme braking and ride on rough roads. Also probably don't keep the tire pressure consistent. I check my tire pressure each time I ride and keep them 34-36 front 40-42 rear. I just checked my receipts to get the accurate number of miles my tires have lasted. My first set of tires were the Metzlers that came with the bike. They were changed out at 12,704 miles (20,439km). However those Metzlers were in really rough shape when I changed them to my first set of Road 6 especially the front it had really bad cupping. My first set of Road 6 lasted 15,383 miles (24,757km). Again not in great shape when I changed them. The rear was squared off and the center line of the tire material was starting to show through. I should have changed them around the 12,000 mile (19,312km) mark. The front tire was in pretty good shape, no cupping. Regardless of how long somebodies' tires last, I wish everyone enjoyable fun filled safe days on two tires!

      @Texas2Tires I forgot to comment about that and ask you that those are not the stock tires right? Why did you change? Also the additional commentary on the bags were nice. The ducati riders event will you try again? Did you use rain mode while riding if so did you notice the difference had you ride in regular mode? Just asking

    • @Texas2Tires
      @Texas2Tires 11 часов назад

      @@p-dub7422 see the comment below I gave to wandering_armadillo about the tires. The Ducati meet up went on as planned, so I missed this one. I'll go to the next one. Some people got there early before the rain and some people live closer to that place than I do. I did use Rain mode. It works well cuts power and the traction control really helps to ensure your rear tire doesn't spin out.

      Thank you for checking out the video and the kind words, it’s much appreciated. I certainly had fun riding both those bikes. Honestly I had really low expectations for the R18, but it surprised me you get quite a bit of technology for your money especially if you compare it to a Harley Davidson. The only real downsides I see are that there’s no forward controls available which many cruiser riders enjoy and the boxer engine does not sound like a traditional V-twin. Perhaps with Harley Davidson‘s recent troubles in the media, maybe more riders will be checking out the family of R18?

    Are you driving on the Road 6 or Road 6 GT? There is a big debate going on here between some friends on what to choose I am on the factory Metzler Roadtec so far but when it’s time to change it will be the Road 6 for me ( not GT ) Stay safe

    • @Texas2Tires
      @Texas2Tires 2 дня назад

      I'm on Road 6. The GT isn't necessary on the RS unless you haul lots of gear and ride two up. The GT is for heavier loads, so like the RT and the K1600 definitely should run the GT. Thanks for checking out the video and posting the question.

    • @vacoasrebel6729
      @vacoasrebel6729 2 дня назад

      @@johnnybravo7733 UK based and my RS now has Michelin Road 6 GT. My tyre/tire dealer is a Bike rubber specialist. The GT version cost me 26.50 USD more for the pair than the Road 6. 440USD for the pair and should give a minimum of 15% more mileage than the 6. The GT uses Michelin's more advanced technology than the 6 as well. 5000 plus miles so far with vet little sign of wear unlike previous Continental and Metzeller. In wet weather they tyre is also superb. In the turns the bike fows side to side far better than previous tyres and the Road 6 others who've moved to GT from the 6 have confirmed. Out anateur conclusion is that the extra ply in the GT maintains the tyre profile better when cornering fast through multiple turns. Some 6GT users here report far far more mileage than the 6.

    I think you hit most of the points. I would add changing the forks to the same as the R would make it turn faster. The quickshift works better if you have high revs but keep the throttle stilll when changing (except 1-2). Shad have just released extensible panniers which look usefully thin.

    • @Texas2Tires
      @Texas2Tires 4 дня назад

      thanks for checking out the video and sharing your insights appreciate it. In the past if I was going to use my quick shifter in the lower gears I would get the revs up to at least 7000. Now that I have tuned the bike with BTMoto, among many of the improvements is the fact that the quick shifter is now smoother. It’s still not in line for or in line 6 smooth after all it’s still a boxer but it has improved considerably.

      The RS is pretty sharp in that white color. Unfortunately or fortunately depending on how you look at it, my friend Chico traded in his RS for a K 1600. I have another friend that has a white RS but his had the red frame which is really interesting. And another friend just bought a 2024 RS triple black. From 2020 to 2023 I didn’t know anyone that owned an RS in my area. Now I know at least five people that have them. It really is an awesome bike And highly underrated

      It’s a combination of many factors first the iPhones run pretty hot and overheat very easily second the quad case is very thick and does not allow the iPhone to breathe the sun and hot temperatures here in Texas are extreme. I now have the iPhone mounted to the right of my windscreen so the wind can hit it it still dims quite a bit but I can see it. I also have Siri giving me the audio directions in my helmet

    I think the only disadvantage of the 1250 RS is that it is a bit oversized and therefore not so maneuverable in the curves. With the quickshifter I had no problems, I even find it better than on the Suzuki? The 1300 RS, which is due to follow in 2025, looks a bit taller according to the preliminary photos, it seems to be heading a bit towards the XR, which I think is absolutely the wrong way to go. BMW still needs a mid-range sports bike and not half a GS!

I consider those that watch my videos friends in the wonderful world of motorcycling. Because of riding, I’ve made so many friends through bike meet ups, Facebook groups and other events. Motorcycles are the common denominator that instantly bring people together. Can’t tell you how many times I’ve pulled up to get gas and there was another rider there. Typically we end up in a conversation about our bikes and experiences riding. I don’t think I’ve ever pulled up to a gas station in my car and just started a random conversation with another driver. I picked mine up early March. An amazing motorcycle but the motor is heavily restricted by the ECU. Once you flash it, you gain the true potential of it. I wasn't a fan of the grey fairings and subframe. I had them both painted black and it looks a billion times better.

    there really is no need to have a QS unless you are on a race bike ...we all grow up changing gears with the clutch anyway so I don't bother using the QS on my BMW...its just an added cost and complexity hardly needed on a tourer

    Washing machine anti-bacterial cleaner is best stuff to wash helmet liners ... Shoei cheek pads come completely apart, inner foam is easy to remove from the velour covers, you can then either use old foam as a template to cut new pads from baby wash sponges, you can then customise the fit with thicker or thinner sponge pads or wash the old foam & rinse thoroughly & wring it out better or it'll stay wet too long & start to smell which defeats the point of a strip/wash.

    • @Texas2Tires
      @Texas2Tires 26 дней назад

      Good to know. For me, I would just order new pads. Sounds too troublesome to cut out new pads. But sounds like you are skilled and not a problem for you also saves some money in the process probably

    Hey, thanks for this. I just bought the exact same bike, 2020 in the metallic black. I haven't seen it in person yet, picking it up next week. So, it was a real treat to see it in detail here. I'm getting a 2020 with only 3,400 km on it. I'm trading in my 2018 R1200GS for this. I agree with what you said. If you're not doing much off-road, this is the bike you'd do better with. I loved the GS engine and handling and the electronics, but this will be far superior on the road. I test-rode the RS, so I am ready! It was good to compare and see what has changed with the electronics since 2018, too. I really appreciated your video. Thanks again!

    • @valebliz
      @valebliz Месяц назад

      @@Texas2TiresI know it’s nothing original to hear, but reliability. My SD hasn’t been the best: faulty switchgear on left and right of the handlebar, faulty QS sensor, faulty rear brake pump, faulty hydraulic clutch pump, the headlight detached itself for no reason because a retention screw broke while I was riding to have the bike serviced, the electric immobilizer one morning refused to disengage and again I had the bike towed to the dealership. I guess those are not major mechanical problems but all in all didn’t leave me with a lot of trust in KTM. Spare parts and servicing are crazy expensive as soon as you’re out of warranty too. Add to all this that a new 1290 GT was at least a couple of grands more expensive than the GX and I preferred to give another brand a chance having liked the Suzuki’s ergos, mid range punch and electronic suspension. It is a bike with some stupid quirks (screen adjustable only with an allen key? Really Suzuki?) but for someone who wants something in between a sport naked and a touring bike is a really nice platform and more compact and cheaper than a S1000XR

    • @valebliz
      @valebliz Месяц назад

      @@Texas2Tiresalso, I fancied trying a new engine platform. I owned a few singles, 2 triples (675 and 1050 triumph), and a few vtwins. Never owned an in-line four but the k5 derived of the GX made a good impression and it’s WAY less tiring to ride than KTM’s 1300cc lc8. The GX feels derived from the GSX range, you feel that chassis underneath is from a smaller bike and when you’re riding it it almost feels like a naked bike, with a little bit of load on the handlebars and the pegs relatively high, coming from sporty naked bikes I liked the familiarity of it compared to something roomier like a s1000xr. Good front end feel too. Front brake master cylinder is subpar though and will have to go shortly for something like a brembo rcs…

Are you planning to add a slip on to getting a louder inline 4 sporty note or just keep it stock? Wow your SD sounded like a nightmare. Thus far I've been very happy with my 2020 BMW RS. I take it in for its scheduled maintenance, check the oil and keep the tire pressure set each time I ride. Also keep the battery topped off when not riding it for days in a row. So far, no issues.

      @@Texas2Tireshere in Europe we have 3 different specs: base bike, a touring specced one with center stand and bigger windshield, a sport one with Akra slip on and a tinted screen. Both sport and touring specs come with panniers, heated grips, comfort saddles and so on. I’m getting the sport one with the slip on but I don’t think I’ll upgrade to a full exhaust, I live in Italy near the French border and I ride quite a lot in the alps, full exhausts easily become a pain with the police here. Great Interview with THE Motor Cop God! I love how he explained what the mindset of a motor officer has to be when they are on their bikes. Listening to the radio, watching for traffic violations while focusing on riding safely. Great input regarding street riding strategies as I do the same. Prepare for the worst, hope for the best. I loved the Motogymkhana question. I always wondered what the difference was. Tire pressure was interesting. I agree, motors are able to respond to a call much faster than a car. They can split lanes, ride through barriers, and pretty much ride into a shopping mall if needed. Remember, Motors Always Lead The Way.
