Bro. Africans like wahala oo. Do dead people even remembered that they lived? We don't know that, just assumptions. I have even heard of oracle consultations when old people die to find out what killed them. The age in this case does not count😂. I think when people die they should just be buried in a simple manne and let the living carry on with their lives. Our cultures and traditions have a way of making our lives unnecessarily complicated.

Bride kidnapping is a very old culture among the Midwestern Igbo speaking people of Delta state, specifically among the Enuani people (Aniocha and Oshimili people). When a man loved a woman deeply he would watch her movements, then kidnap her, drag her to his house then the local gun shooter will fire gun shots of a certain number into the air. Once the villagers heard the number of gun shots, there will be shouts of koh koh or okokoko, and questions asked about who has been kidnapped? Once the gun shots have been fired, there is no going back only to pay the dowry and that's it. The men used to arrange with the gun shooter to quickly fire the shoots. This practice mostly happened on occasions when the man suspected the lady may refuse or has refused his advances. It was called Ikulu Nwayi which I am told means in their dislect means to pluck a woman.

Same reason why some women used to shy away from being the King's first wife in some African communities many years ago as it was rumoured and believed the first wives were buried alive with their husbands like I heard. Outrageous.

It is similar to ancient Egptian culture whereby the pharoah was buried in luxury in a tomb full of his servants. I am glad this ancient culture has gone into oblivion. No one can accept the role of the Abobaku with the strings attached to it. I won't.

I have never really liked the Nwa boy programme. The duration of 10 to 15 years is too long. 2 years is okay in my opinion. The nwa boy in the duration of his apprenticeship should be given a fairly reasonable sum of money monthly for his upkeep. This will kill the temptation of illegally taking his master's money. An amount should be agreed on as a sum for the nwa boy to start his own business after his freedom and this agreement should be witnessed by many people in the community. One of the reasons my friends and myself are really praying for Biafra to come is all the promises Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and Ekpa are making us for a better life. Infact these may end the existence of programmes like the nwa boy.

Because I know some Africans sold other Africans to the Europeans to be slaves in the Americas, and the Igbo were heavily transported especially to the Caribbean and Virginia, so now this makes me wonder. Either way, this is ridiculous and should be stopped. Where do you come from? There 3 stages of aborminable people in Igbo land the OSU, Ohu and Umeh your explanations are totally incorrect. Osu are those who had slept with their relative, sister, mother, father with daughter knownly when found they would turn Osu, kick out of the town they may decide to live in the forest or anywhere of their choice agreed by the kings men. Some of them might chose to keep the shrine clean without stepping on the altar of the deity, the shrine is considered holy else it will kill them and if they caught stroken by the shrine, their body could be given to the cultures or leave to rotten somewhere far from the shrine die. They are treated that way becauce they defied the of the mother earth. (2) Are those who accepted serving the king. After reading the laws to their hearing they would relocate to the palace till death departs them no fornication, no marriage nor given in marriage they are the messagers equal to the angels. Some of them are buried with the king. Roman copied this in the bible revelation they changed the mardens to Rev. sister. (3) The hardened criminal with up 10 warnings if he did not stop, could be buried alive, the grave he will dig for himself. (4) Umeh These are the sets whose husband or wives would die 6th times the 7th will be her husband. Yes, in Igbo it takes much investigation inquiries, interviews before a wife could be found. The Igbo marriage is by recommandation and that time marriage lasts due to amount of money a man would spend on dowry. Igno do not collect car, horse nor cow they collect cash. A girl should not be pregnanted before her marriage this kind, us treated in a different way in Igbo land. When growing up to being a woman eye family eye will be on the girl is so that she would not miss her steps else no one would recommand her for are man. A girl should be respectful, well trained. That is some igbo costume others have their own too in sane Igbo land Is it easy to marry an Igbo lady? Now it is easier. If you don't have money do not go for igbo they are very exoensive.
