Very nice clip! Informative and not the usual tourist spots. We lived for years in Nakasu, Fukuoka and used to bicycle 15 minutes to the fish market and the Port Tower area with great fish and seafood at reasonable prices for lunch and stuff to bring home. The market itself is not open to the public. I have a friend though who runs a sushi place in Ohashi and he brought me there a couple of times, it is impressive. Yes, amazing quality in konbinis like Lawson, Family Mart and 7/11. The pork with cabbage on a sizzling plate is really good and also the grilled unagi/anago with sauce. Eel is being cultivated or semi-cultivated in Japan so one can eat it with good conscience. But the future is ofc cell grown eel, as many other fine foods. We were to the Yoshizuka Unagi several times, highly recommended. There was also a good eel place in Hakata station on like the eight floor. If anyone have doubts or read anything about Nakasu, some people call it red light district, it is totally wrong. It is perfectly safe, there are girls and boys bars, but no prostitution or crime. I recommend the yatais - food stalls along the river towards Canal City. And I highly recommend a visit to Fukuoka in general. Arigato!

Pro tip: San Diego is known for California Burritos, but you do not get a burrito at Las Cuatro Milpas. Get the tacos or taquitos, and then rice, beans, tamales con huevos. The tortillas are the star of the show here, and they're already rich and heavy. IMHO, it doesn't help when you choose the heaviest thing on the menu, which, anecdotally, also is the least popular.

Nice video, I'm a San Diegan and enjoy all of these places. People will never agree on BBQ, everyone claims to know a place that is better, but Phil's is solid, food quality and taste are very good. I too have a place I like better, but you chose a local icon and it's a great stop on a visit!

The Taco Stand is a Taco's el Gordo ripoff. That is the place you should have gone.

I would not think of San Diego Mexican places as being good or bad because they are not authentic. Even tacos el gordo is really not authentic because they do fries. Which really isn’t a thing in Mexico. That being said Cantina Mayhuel in normal heights for carne asada and Earth’s best marg. Oscars for fish tacos, ceviche, and California burritos in Kearny Mesa for the best Cali burrito in town. Javier’s for the best fancy Mexican. The food is fantastic, their beans are amazing.

4:34 "For those who are used to the Americanized way of tacos, it may feel a little bland"... In SD we're used to Mexicanized way of tacos, and yes, we've tried those tacos. They are too bland. They could not compete in Tijuana. Compared to the Taco Stand, they're night and day. LCM is overhyped.

I felt like the meat wasn't very well seasoned but obviously the tortillas are delicious. My favorite spot is Antojos del Tepeyac, handmade tortillas and gorditas. All the guisados are incredible. You gotta get some gorditas there.

Hungry Monster, thanks for the video. I went to Phils BBQ despite the comments on here and I must say it was great! The beef ribs were awesome and honestly, the environment and vibes at Phils made it a better experience. Still had to wait in line for dinner service for around 10 minutes - but it was worth it!
