It’s all very interesting to learn more and more about these relatively unknown artists to the mainstream music industry.

I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned these artists before but another one I like is Doyle Bramhall II... he was Claptons 2nd guitarist for a while... and also Mato Nanji from the Native American blues band “ Indigenous” .... but truthfully I love all the music your finding! Much of it I haven’t heard of ! Rock on friend!

Copyright ©️ I do have a system that I use to approach on every song 🎵, it starts off with my initial first run throughs when learning the song, I actually have a rather limited amount of Cymbals, I really have the 3 crashes and the ride. The Swiss 🧀 is my extra crash called an effects cymbal and it’s actually my cheapest one of the bunch , coming in under $150 if my memory is correct, my little 10” splash was over $200. All of my crashes are 16” size, that’s considered rather small for a crash, but I don’t need anymore volume in my situation, a larger cymbal will be not only louder, but keep ringing for a longer period, called decay. I don’t need to have loud cymbals now playing in my basement because I’m not competing with 3 100 watt Marshall Amps behind me anymore. My Two front 16” crashes are the exact Sabian Model, AAX EXPLOSION FAST CRASH 💥, but they don’t sound exactly the same, they blend together nicely, but they definitely sound different. I find the front right crash is much more versatile and sounds better than the left does. And again the far right 16” Zildjian crash has its own distinct characteristics. Another consideration is how you strike the cymbals, There are many different sounds that you can achieve by how you hit them. The obvious one is how hard you hit it, that will give you many versions itself, So I will call that dynamics, something that is perhaps my strongest point in my total drumming skill. The next thing is how you hit it, like a direct shot or a glance hit sort or side slicing cymbal, which totally changes the sound. So you can see just by how hard or how you actually strike the cymbals give you a totally different sound. The next factor is what drumsticks 🍗 you are using, that’s the invisible part, there are many different styles and stick materials and tip selections. I have either Hickory or Maple 🍁, maple is a lighter wood and has a lighter sound, not as loud. Then there are tips, a few different styles of wood tips, like barrel or acorn and others that definitely sound different, and then the plastic nylon tip sticks, which have a more ping sound for like jazz. And lastly is stick size, I used 7a nylon sticks for as long as I remember, but now I’m selectively making more choices and have recently in the last month or two, have been using the next size up 5a stick. Everything depends on the song 🎵 Ok back to the beginning, so here is how I approach every song I play, when first starting to learn the song playing it a couple times, I will quickly know which crash cymbal sounds the best for each crash, like I said, my left one has its own sound and doesn’t always have the right note 🎵 that fits in the best. Where my right front crash is my Best Sounding crash that absolutely fits into every situation perfectly. The Swiss 🧀 can sound very differently depending on how hard I hit it. But it doesn’t always fit into the song, that’s why it appears and disappears. Ok so I will plan the cymbal selection with in the first few minutes learning the new song, and make a mental 🧠 map 🗺️ planning out the cymbals that I’m going to hit. Same goes for the drumsticks 🥁, so this is all determined when learning the song. So in the finished video you’re watching, there was a preparation used mapping out the song from start to finish, but of course I can’t remember everything at times. Sometimes I will forget and hit the wrong planned cymbal, and if it doesn’t work I stop 🛑 and start over. You also have to consider that every drummer had his own style or touch, that effects everything, if you look at just Earl and myself we could play the exact same song and both approach it differently, or Bryan. Bryan loves my style because of my dynamics and touch. Just like you would tell me I have the cats paws 🐾 I find that Earl hits more firmly into the drum 🥁 than I do, I also play with a VERY LOOSE GRIP in my hands 🙌 almost to a point of dropping the sticks, which happens occasionally. TAKE 3 🎬 And the last word, is about how hard that I’m hitting, I’m wearing ear buds that are called IN EAR MONITORS, mine are around $50 and that’s called extremely low range $$$, but I can hear how hard I’m hitting everything and can compensate on how hard to hit by listening. So there is no need for me to hit that hard, first the drums are miked and there is no music being heard in the room. You see me hitting the snare and would think I’m not hitting it loud, but if you listen it’s perfectly in the mix. Some drummers 🥁 on utube play louder than the music, I try to just fit in to cover the drummer on the record. You can see I had enough energy to type this small novel …. But soon as I have lunch 🥪 it will be nap time 😴 Have a great day my friend, it’s a sunny day ☀️

Today was a no nap day, we went out to get gas ⛽️ had a subway sandwich. Then I went downstairs to do a new song, only to find out when I put it on the computer 🖥️, the main camera was out of focus a tad 🥺 I’m pretty fussy and just wrote off the song, 🎵 and went back after dinner to redo it again along with another blues tune 🎵 I was going to skip with Christmas 🎅 drum covers this year, in fact I found a few blues songs that I will do next week.

@ Speaking of Christmas drum covers, I have been trying to find some songs to play to that don’t have a shuffle beat. For some reason I just don’t enjoy playing shuffle beat songs.

Thanks 🙏 yes it came out well, I can’t tell how it’s going to sound while playing it, it certainly doesn’t have the same sound once I come up and load it on the computer.🖥️ when playing it it live drumming to the song 🎵 I’m wearing $59.00 in ear monitors, they do the job, but it certainly doesn’t sound as good, so I just don’t know until I’m upstairs.

I’ve tweaked my lighting positioning on a couple lights, and also found that my editing program that gave me all the cool 😎 effects had changed around 95% of my favourite effects to Pay 💰 effects. That’s a bummer, I’m not paying $160 a year plus taxes, do I will have to simplify my video production 😡

Well some news about my production … NOW THAT I FINALLY HAVE EVERYTHING WORKING SO WELL. It appears that my secondary free 💰editor that gives me all these cool 😎 special effects, called Cap Cut, apparently owned by tic tok, has changed my options on what effects I use. They seem to watch what I’ve been using and slowly changing the free effects, to paid only effects 😡😡😡 I’ve noticed when I do the recommended free upgrades, things I’ve been using aren’t free anymore, today out of nowhere, it seems like 95% or more of my effects now require a subscription. Ok well how much, 🤷🏼‍♂️ like $165.00 a year plus taxes 🤬🤬🤬 so that’s not gonna happen. So it’s looking like my videos are definitely gonna have a lot less to zero effects, I’m disappointed 🥺 By the way I did spend a little while changing some of my lighting in this video and perhaps keeping this set up. It was just a little rearranging of my physical lights in the room. I think 🤔 it’s clearer ?

It’s taken away all my other hobbies, and it’s become a part time job, I did have a cat nap before this video. I’m in bed now having another rest. I did record another song after this one, so I’m ready for my next tune. I use a editing program called Cap Cut, which is a free version, it seems they can control my computer and have taken 95% of the effects I’ve been using and not letting me use them anymore, with out a paid subscription, that’s over $150 a year, ☹️ so my production will be going to minimal video production now.

This is my second attempt to respond, I started typing 💬 but was just too tired 🥱 that was around 8:00 🕗 am I had gotten up and had a bowl of shredded Wheat cereal 🥣 and before you know it, I was back in bed. Snoozing 💤 At some point in time I must of taken a bite of Snow Whites poison apple 🍎, I finally figured that out. Well here it is 11:41 and I’m up again, that was a huge mistake, I should’ve just slept to now, I’m twice as tired now . I certainly have the blues, the tired blues and there are two songs that I found with this name. Well at least I haven’t scared you away with my blues drum 🥁 covers, YET ! In this video I had just washed my hair and it has no bed head, , well my bed head is back to full strength again today. I’m very glad I’m giving your foot 🦶 some exercise, WHAT ARE FRIENDS FOR 😇

@@edwardkaminsky8142 , Yes I enjoy playing this music and love the harp like yourself, I wish that I knew more of this type of music. I don’t like playing many of the old big name players because of the old record quality. Yes you have a good eye spotting my mixer, the story is that I had a small loveseat in the room the part out of the view, well I took that out many months ago, and my wife wasn’t happy with it taking up room in our furnace room, so I decided to to put it back in the drum room. This means moving the drums because it’s a very small room, then I had to move a small stereo stand to make room for the loveseat. So I decided to use that stand in place of what I was previously using to hold my mixer. So I ended up totally having to pull everything apart and all the microphone cables and move the drums completely. The stand is better and I like the mixer being up higher and I like the looks as well , plus I now have a cd 💿 player available if needed. The negative is that that stand has a bigger footprint and I can’t put one extra cymbal stand in that space. No big deal 😄 Thanks for watching 👍👍👍

Thanks , lots of tinkering, I’m still in a new place, some stuff has actually improved 😮, I will just keep tweaking with every new song. The drums have slightly changed position, since before the move, I felt a little rusty after not playing for 3 days, but I’m happy with this one 👍 With all my fussiness on lighting somehow I missed the left light stand wasn’t in the correct position 😊 that’s fixed now.

@@Amateuristik0505 Thanks so much , I was worried about my sound , I made some room changes in the part that’s not visible, but I had to move the drums, and switched to a stereo stand for my mixer. Thankfully it’s sounding ok 👍 and just needs a little tweaking 😁

@@gregwonhoff7161 , I just gave it another listen now at 12:45 AM and it sounds good 👌, I’m sure I’ll be tinkering with every song 🎵 until I get it even better, but its good 😊 yes the Swiss 🧀 was put in just for you, on my previous take it was a regular Zildjian. I’m sort of restricted with cymbal placement to a degree, one is space and the other is the same stand that holds the front right Tom, is also the cymbal stand. I’m ok the way it is now, just need some more songs to get more familiar with the set up. The foot 🦶 print has slightly changed to prior to me moving everything.

@ , Trust me I wasn’t 100% comfortable, plus the kit has been slightly changed in position after moving them and rewiring everything. I put in a loveseat into the room again, and had to move everything. I’ll get used to it 🤪

It’s a cool song 🎵 with an interesting beat for a blues song , but it was a nightmare playing, because the drummer kept throwing in these odd and unpredictable cymbal crashes. I got to a point where I just tried to cover him up and put in more crashes than in any song I’ve ever done. 😊
