@@jodip719 I was just made aware of this and will correct my statement in the next video and also the title on this one. I'm such a chop
@SimplyAquaticCT No one is perfect. I hope you have good luck with them. I keep luminatus and furcatus, but haven't bred them yet. They are im my display tank for now.
@jodip719 awesome, hopefully I can figure out a good way and you can copy it when the time comes to restock 😄
@SimplyAquaticCT I'm looking forward to it!
The new light is awesome! That's way way better now! And very neat aquariums by the way👍
@@ShrimpMania thanks so much my friend! Yeah I didn't actually get a new light, I just stopped exposing under - I think subconsciously I wanted to try and balance the exposure for the tank lights and ended up making the middle of the room dark 😅🤞

I tried this, and my water turned milky white. Is there a way to turn this into some greenwater or did I do something wrong? I am new to all of this and need a greenwater culture for a school project.
This happened to me before as well, I believe it to be a sign of either low light or very intense overdose. Try using a little less and put it in the sun instead? Also make sure the culture is active - small bubbles and pressure in the bottle is a good sign
How does the egg look like?

Hey ive just found copepods in my shrimp only tank. And its inspired me. I now have a separate green water tank. Is it safe to culture daphnia in my shrimp and copepod tank and feed it with water from my green water tank? I dont want to hurt my cherry shimp population
@@anopolis9323 100%, copepods will be present in any cycled tank without predatory fish. And yes shrimp will do perfectly fine in green water 😄

If only the shrimp of the genus Caridina reproduced so quickly....
Hey! I have a couple of questions-hope you don't mind, haha! Do you know why adding beneficial bacteria helps speed up the growth of green water culture? Does algae feed on bacteria? I watched your video on how to make a bio-boost mixture, and I’m wondering if it’s because the organic ingredients, like sugar and rice, contain great nutrients that help green water grow. If I add QuickStart or TurboStart to a new green water culture, do you think it will work too? Also, what is your nitrate level of your green water culture? Thanks!
Okay let me try do this correctly: Bacterial microbes help in the conversion of the organic nutrients into absorbable states for the algae / plant growth. It's a plant and will feed on the nutrients not the bacteria. I do believe it will but haven't tested myself. I am not sure as I have not tested it, but I do find if I feed more regularly / have more livestock in the tank the green water is much thicker and healthier - indication of more nutrients = better culture.
Do you breed bumble bee gobies?
Unfortunately not, I'd love to give it a shot though 🤔
My brother’s koi pond has green water. He hasn’t cleaned for 3 years. Is it safe to put it in my ranchu pond? 🤔
Yes sir! Should be an excellent and well established culture!
Hello sir is it a bacteria which is used to cycle a fish tank
Yes I've used it to cycle tanks with aquasoil that have their own ammonia source
Interesting I want to try it with Seachem stability, will it work?
You should try it and let us know!

Do you have to use an airtight container? I have an extra 5 gallon and would love to use that to make this!
@@Moo1imma1Goat the idea is to keep any unwanted pathogens or bacterias out of the mixture as it can become a host media for plenty of nasty things if left open. You're welcome to try it and let us know what happens though 😄
Awesome as always!
I like your videos buddy, always easy to watch. You asked for the tips - my tip would be to invest in studio light to make your footage a bit brighter. I can see you don't use any extra light apart from your ceiling light. You need a little bit extra light to highlight yourself, lower your iso and make your footage a little bit brighter and sharper😊
@@ShrimpMania thank you my friend. You know I was thinking this exact same thing. I usually shoot at 4-5 to allow for tracking as I move a lot but I was planning to just shoot 2.8 and use the lens all the way. Thanks for confirming my thoughts!

Does it contains nitrifying bacteria?
@@sajid07860 yes photosynthetic enzymes and probiotics, it's specifically good in aquariums that are being set up with aquasoil that leech ammonia.
is these daphnia moina or magna ?
I believe mine are moina, but the principles would work for both variants :)
Hello! A couple questions if you don't mind. 1. For the live green water: How do you keep the algae suspended in the water column after you transfer it from a jar to a tank? I have a 6.8 gallon shallow tank with a small pump and airline hose however the algae still tends to settle at the bottom. 2. After you put the daphnia (in my case moina) in the live green water tank, do you still continue feeding the algae with fertilizer to keep it going? Thank you so much! Love your channel.
The powerhead is probably the reason your culture is attaching to a particular section of the tank, and no I don't add ferts to the water with moina as it could result in them dying. If I was you I'd switch to a small air feed instead :) Only a pleasure, thanks for the support 😄🙌
@@SimplyAquaticCT Thank for you reply. I do not have a powerhead. Sorry to be confusing. I have a small pump (Tetra whisper) with just an airline tube. It still settles at the bottom though. Is it a location/directional thing? And if you don't add fert, do you just wait for the daphnia to clear the tank before adding more green water?
@theclamorband did you have a look at my daphnia video? I think this will answer all your questions 😄
@@SimplyAquaticCT Thanks to you I have an awesome 7 gallon moina-live-green-water-aquarium going as well as a couple large jars of live green water cultures. It's all running great! BTW I experimented with adding Aquarium CoOp Easy Green Fert to feed the algae in the moina tank and it caused no deaths. (At least nothing noticeable- there are thousands and thousands in there).
This is amazing thanks so much for coming back and letting me know! 😀

You're welcome, I'm glad you enjoyed it. 😄
Hello! When transferring daphnia from live green water to the fish tank, should I be concerned about triggering an algae bloom?
@@theclamorband Hello 👋 This is a great question, if you want to be 100% sure you don't trigger it I would rinse the net with daphnia in clean tank water before releasing them to feed the fish 👌
@@SimplyAquaticCTthank you !!
I know people use miracle gro as food for their green water cultures but has anyone ever used liquid miracle gro?
