Travelling across The California Desert, Seeing National Parks, The Hollywood Hills and A Ghost Town

Connolly Outdoors flew Into Las Begas Nevada and drove through The desert area in California. We visited 2 national parks a few cool desert stops and a horrible contaminated ghost town! I’m a fellow drummer. I see you might be from Canada; my favorite drummer is from the Great White North! In sure you know who that might be. 😉 I’m glad you have a great camping trip planned with Liam! I look forward to those vids. Great story! You were way ahead of your time, haha! Cool first family camping story you have! Maybe there is hope for my 12 year old boys..... They used to love camping and now they say they "hate camping", even though they still look honestly like they are having fun when they do go. However getting them there these days feels like "pulling teeth". So cool that your son rekindled his love for outdoor activities during Covid and it didnt draw him more into gaming and watching tv.

    The tent definitely not designed to handle such rain... or by design, any rain. I see when you have your upper tarp somewhat above your inner tent, your inner tent still exposed to direct rain. That is absolutely not good as eventually condesation will happen. And as other have mentioned, your tarp / fly / outer tent should never touched with your inner tent as water will find ways to seeps through. Id suggest take this tent only for fair weather and get yourself a nice brand new 3p tent. Have fun with your next camping trip ! :)

    • @Connollyoutdoors
      @Connollyoutdoors 2 месяца назад

      You are right and I do have other tents that I use. As I mentioned we brought this tent because of the size my other 3p tent is what I normally use but decided not to for this camp! ⛺️

  • @stuartaminion511
    @stuartaminion511 2 месяца назад

    saying something obvious: have had many of old tents (still do). but when going out to use them (if not for a while) i always reseam them and set them up and hose water on them to check for leaks (and add some waterproofing in areas if needed.) have many tents that are old and stand up well just the seaming is importent for rain. keep dry keep warm keep camping in the rain, nothing like it.

  • @beargreasebrigade

  • @SpaceduckDK
    @SpaceduckDK 2 месяца назад

    I learned that you should have a gap between tent and tarp, they must not touch each other. That tent has not been used for a long time, perhaps some new impregnations before use. Maybe a big tent, it's just not made for heavy rain. You only learn by trying. Keep up the good work looking forward to the next video.

    Hello, good thing you brought the bigger tent! Its all an adventure camping! Thats why i love it. Goose shit is the worst! A few fire crackers might help get rid of them! I got already to hunker down from Beryl and had a day and a half of gentail rain! Just re-water proof that tent, they sell the stuff at Canadian Tire in the Camp Sec. It works great. I usually do all my tents before I ever use them. Good on you guys for braveing Beryl alone, in the wilds of Ont. lol That looks like a lot of rain for sure!!
