Broccoli and Wilson better not destroy the next bond movie from what I've been reading we all better get ready for a big surprise
That Treasury Official giving the exposition to M and Bond was the same actor who played the finance company boss (and then becomes the Governor of the Bank of England I think) decades later in Yes Minister and Yes Prime Minister.
Please observe that the bank of England fellow removed the ring from the cigar. That's because only a complete bounder leaves the label on a cigar.
Imagine arbitrage in gold prices between countries like that today
$30 an ounce for gold. My, how times have changed and the price 80x greater.
Bernard Lee brought a wonderful hard edge to his role; the Bond films were so well made and cast.
Now we have a woke Bond with a bland blonde actor who is Statham /Rambo /Bourne wannabe.
Funny how an old film can look so much better than digital video.
Imagine a scene where mi6 is under attack and m kills one of the attackers with it still in their desk all the time.
If you look closely you can see the actor clipping the cigar, doesn't actually do it for real. Just mimics it
Not very interesting fact but the actor playing the Colonel played a banker in an Episode of Yes Minister back in the late 80s and 90s. He was talking about money then too😂
The British ruling class make me laugh.
Interesting how he says goodbye to Moneypenny without turning his back as he leaves.
There's TV series dedicated to idiots who take out loans, buy equipment, hire friends and relatives and move to Alaska where they break their backs for 11 months and come up with less than one ounce of pure gold. The smart man just steals it from someone who has already dug it up.
I would've thought they'd start from 0:42 and then tracked towards the table.
When James Bond was British, classy and male. Sad what the franchise has become.
We now have a boring woke Bond with a bland blonde actor who is Statham/Rambo /Bourne wannabe.
@ Totally agree. I liked Skyfall but Craig never had the charm. Always came across as arrogant to me. At least he is white though which I doubt the next one will be.
GOLDFINGER TURNS OUT TO BE JACOB ROTHCHILD IN REAL LIFE
I swear that’s how I delt with him by accident 😂😂
a good back stab and kick over rhe ledge feels amazing 😂
an accident, or a blessing?
I have all the qualities that Sean Connery had to make a perfect James Bond 007 except the looks hight charm charisma and most of all intellectual and precise decision making that made him the best by far.
Those are without doubt the largest snifters I’ve ever seen.
30$ an oz . In the last 4 years 2020-24 gold has gained 1000 dollars to hit 2700 an oz .
I don’t have an admin assistant or secretary to kiss. 😂
Connery at his best as bond in his best bond film.
You could see the glint in bonds eye as he imagined what he could do with £5,000 before M put the brakes on whatever plans he was making for it.
Weve gone from this................. to drill rap, electric bike phone theft, stabbings, terrorism and kier fucking starmer
What’s amazing is, the guy playing Col. Smithers is 39 years old! He looks more like 69 years old.
The PPK was great for its time, but, in my opinion, it’s no longer a sensible choice. It’s too heavy for pocket carry, and there are countless better options for any other type of carry, so it’s largely irrelevant. Now, if Walther could address the weight by introducing a polymer .32 PPK (and add a slide stop), that would interest me. I’m honestly surprised that they haven’t done so in all this time. It would be a great pocket gun, but for the weight.
"Why move it?" And they move the decanter. Brilliant direction.
James Bond was the reason I fell in love with the PPK. I've been carrying one daily for 14 years now for my CCW.
0:40 I can almost hear Sean Connery saying "No, save those for Roger Moore."
Even the cinematography here is fantastic. That long, seamless tracking shot to establish the gravitas of the room…brilliant touch!
$30 an oz!
$30 an ounce
Fun fact when Ian Fleming served in the Navy during WWII he was issued the Beretta 418 which he gave Bond originally. There’s a lot of question as to why he changed it to the Walther but I will admit it fit like a glove.
$30 an ounce, LOL
And please never forget about all those extremely gorgeous and sexy Bond girls!!!!❤
The price of gold DOESN'T vary by 300% from country to country!
RIP Mr Connery. Thanks for all the wonderful childhood memories I have of watching James Bond.❤❤
The banker was the guy sharing a train compartment with the Beatles in “A Hard Day’s Night.”
Goldfinger, my favourite Bond film., I was a 14 year old school boy when I read the book, my first "can't put it down " book. Loved the film, but the book was better !
Auric is an idiot! He should have gone after the NY Federal Reserve!-Simon Peter Gruber
Bond is of course a connoisseur, and a snob
And lovely Bernard Lee to.🎉
Bond was actually a real prick.
5000 pound for a brick ... Today 5000 barely gets you two ounces. Central bankers have been putting the stink finger to west for a long time. Well Gentlemen...you now know who to hunt down.
Banks using the deep state in a plot to sieze someones gold, nothing changes.
This is examples of a noble and rich culture, now completely destroyed.
Gold fingers gold worth £20 million. What a piddling amount by todays standards
So Goldfinger's big crime was participating in international trade?
Love the way that Bond makes the toffs realise that they know absolutely nothing about fine brandy. It reminded me of Albert Einstein's famous comment: "In the really big questions we "experts" are very rarely correct".
