UAD Ruby vs TONEX - Blind Test!
Просмотров 8603 месяца назад
In this video I wanted to compare the UAD Ruby against the TONEX. Please join the blind test and try to guess which one is which. Also, share your comments in the description. Both clips preserve the same guitar recording. I used Orange Amp Detonator ABY switch to record both devices at the same time. MY THOUGHTS: Although I think the sound very close there are slight differences. Overall UAD R...
Plate Reverb Comparsion - Strymon Big Sky vs UAD vs Soundtoys
Просмотров 1843 месяца назад
I wanted to make sure if it's worth it to keep my Strymon Big Sky pedal in my home studio, so I decided to compare it against the two very good plate plugins, which are Soundtoys Little Plate and Universal Audio Pure Plate. For the amp modeling I used the TONEX software ( The Studio Rats AC30 capture ). The pedal has been reamped from the DAW ( Logic Pro ) through the line out of my interface, ...
what're pickups ? This sound´s very good!!
Thank you! Pickups are Seymour Duncans SSL-1
Tone at 1:45 was my favourite. The Ruby's saturation comes across mushy to me.
Yes, I agree. It may be that I've set the Ruby a little gainier than the Tonex also. What I've found with the Ruby is that it kinda "drops" in the volume when you dig in harder with your pick. ( on a gainy settings ) When I play, I really like that behaviour, but listening back to it I think it is a little bit exaggerated.

Those captures are not available on Tonenet.
@@milankotevski1663 Thats correct, you have to import them manually. Just download them, unzip and drag and drop into your Tonex software.
update: those captures are now available on Tonenet

UAD is really good in this example. The Little plate is muddying up a little, and no separation between the Reverb and the source. Bigsky umm..it is a little bright and has a pedal character to it. It is definitely good but in this scenario, I would choose the UAD.
Bro might have just convinced me to trade my tones for a ruby
It is an amazing sounding pedal indeed!
I liked B a bit more. Trying to justify the price of the ToneX for one sound is a bit tough. Trying to even find a reason to do that.
Totally agree! If you are not a diehard AC30 fan, then it’s not worth it to keep the Ruby, as Tonex is 95% there. With that being said.. I still like playing the Ruby a little more as it feels a little more responsive and saturated. Thanks for the comment!
C is the ruby
