Archie White is a young musician who is a former chorister of the Choir of Magdalen College, Oxford, England. His treble singing voice is developing and he is now sings in the alto range. Other than for the short clip of Allegri's Miserere, these videos trace the path from when he had to retire from the choir due to his advancing years at the age of twelve and find his way outside the chapel walls. #singer #youngmusician

Would you consider singing this piece as a 2024 Halloween special? From Mozart’s “Bastien und Bastienne” the unusual Aria “Diggi, daggi, schurry, murry". Mozart composed it when he was 10yo. The words are made up. Only the Latin “quid pro quo” has a meaning. Otherwise, it’s total gibberish - what fun it is though! Perfect piece for Halloween. There’s a youtube video sung by a boy soprano (Vienna Boy soloist) with the music score. Anyway, just an idea.

what is white music?
I am not sure that I understand this question. If you mean the channel title, then that is my name (Archie White) followed by music, which describes the content. If you mean something else, maybe you would explain and I will do my best to answer you. However, I don't know of any genre named 'white music'. Thank you for visiting the channel.

Lovely! Gurney's life was rather tragic, but his songs are beautiful. 'Only the wanderer' is a favourite of mine. There is also a wonderful 'Sleep' by Peter Warlock - do you know his songs, and have you considered doing some as an alto?
I love Gurney's music and it is very sad that he died so young and had such a troubled life. Only the Wanderer is a beautiful poem - I do very much enjoy the countryside. I do not know the Peter Warlock version of 'Sleep' but will have a listen. I do generally like his music.
@archieomwhite9147 I would recommend the versions of Warlock's songs by Ian Partridge or Anthony Rolfe-Johnson. I once attended a workshop on Warlock with the latter, and it was one of most memorable musical afternoons of my life! :-)

Is this your falsetto or chest voice? Have you decided to become a countertenor after all? I’m glad to have a fellow countertenor as a friend.
At the moment I am still singing in my natural voice. I am developing a bass range but it is not yet usable for performance. I am not sure what is going to happen next but I enjoy singing in this range, although I am still weak on the lower notes.

Great effort Archie, really glad your treble voice is still there. My only criticism is the sound recording, the balance between the piano and your wonderful voice is not right, the piano volume at times over whelms it. But thank you for this it gone into my keeps list. ❤
Thank you. The balance is entirely my own fault, as I was the one playing the piano and overwhelmed my own voice. This clip was taken when I was trying out the piano before the performance. All of my recordings on this channel are live and unedited. They are all taken on a phone, with the exception of the Pie Jesu which was recorded live by the BBC.
Even if you doing a live recording in your own home get some expert advice, maybe use multiple mikes and a mixer. But I really enjoyed it.
It is a good idea and something to think about in future. I apologise if these RUclips clips are a little bit unprofessional. The recording of them is mostly unplanned and they have been captured informally on a phone in various different venues but I will look into borrowing some equipment and setting something up on another occasion.
This is masterful, Archie. Such a very enjoyable listen. Respect to you for being both able and willing to sing in this difficult range at your stage of life.
