WHAT ARE 3D FACES. I created autocad surfaces from the 3sided polylines. I want to trurn the to civil 3d surface. but add drawing objects from 3d faces dont recognize it.

i cant find the delete options for a surface I created. how to delete a surface in civil 3d?

The only issue with using contours to create a surface is that you may not get a true surface. By that I mean you have not picked up any breaklines from the original survey. A top or bottom of bank will not be included as contours are only elevations at specific vertical intervals. For example if you need a top of bank for a stormwater basin the top contour may be at a different elevation to the top of bank. The tighter the contour interval the more accurate your surface will be. It is best to use points and breaklines or 3d faces (a TIN) from the Surveyor.

Hey the surveyor sent me a dwg and csv file of the survey. I followed the video but the dwg and surface are far apart. What could be the problem?

There has to be water falling from the other side of the low point. A stream cannot be the bounadary of a catchment. May want to rethink this method.

Your surface style can give you a hint of your low points. Set it to watersheds and set your ranges, it will give you catchments.

Hi All, I am working on one file that I got outside this course. It is an Autocad drawing, which I guess used to be a CIVIL 3D. It has all the elevations (txt), points (with E,N, & Elev) and contour lines. I am trying to follow the exercises in the course and generate the surface. I tried two methods: M1. Converting the standard points into COGO points, than creating the surface. M2. Unhiding the zz Ground Surface Layer Tin and creating the surface from the Drawing objects (lines or 3D Faces). Can anyone help me figure out the issue, since the civil 3D refuses to pick up the elements from which to build the surface? Thank you all!
