Hi Ryan! I’m about to make an order for the kit of this beautiful machine, but I’m not sure if i found a good enough rail, the pipes I found are 31.7mm - is that too small for the 32mm prints?
@@emdagon I’m not Ryan but glad you enjoyed the video and are wanting to build one! I know one guy in the beta used some pipe that was 31.8mm and it worked ok for him. I am not sure if the 31.7 will matter or not. My suggestion is to head over to forum.v1e.com and make a post there. It is an extremely helpful forum!!
Nice spindle, cuts and setup. Am not content with those Vac hose hooks though.
Yeah I need to spend more time getting my hose/wire set correctly. Once you get that right I think it will be good. This was the very first run for this build. Still stuff to clean up.
Don't be square. :P
🤣🤣🤣
Awesome! Keep making more. I would love to see more demonstrating how it can surface and contour.
Thanks! I will try to take some more videos when I get back home in 2 weeks! One main thing I want to do is surface my table since I installed a new spoilboard so that will for sure be on the list. I don't think I have any contour work planned but if anything comes up ill be sure to take some video and post!
Does that 80mm spindle affect the machine? I am looking to upgrade my lr4 to one.
80mm spindle wont work in the LR4. That is a 65mm spindle and works in the Makita tool mounts. I will be making a tool mount for it like I did the LR3 as soon as I have some time. I would like to bring the spindle up some. Right now it is as high as I can bring it and still hangs the collet too low from the core
@@NorthWoodsCustomCreations Thanks for the video! I'm glad you mentioned about the mounts in relation to the spindle's height. I'll be looking into that soon.
Thanks Doug
that def taking it close to max , be interesting to see how long it would handle it before router gave up or caught fire , id give it about 2 hrs
Yeah its hard to say. For sure harder than I have ever pushed it before, or since lol. This was for the beta, I was trying to break things
Слева нет направляющей. Каретка катается по столу по стружке. Это никак не влияет на работу станка?
No it does really well like this. With dust collection on the chips are not near as bad. This was a beta machine before the dust collection parts were complete and ready. We don't run a rail on both sides because its near impossible to get them exactly in line with each other. It is much better to have it constrained on one side this way. The dual Y motors and endstop homing allow you to get the machine perfectly square and the motors keep it that way really well. It truly is an awesome machine!
@@NorthWoodsCustomCreations Спасибо за ответ! Но левая сторона без направляющей катается по столу по стружке. Насколько это критично для работы станка? Даже хорошее удаление пыли и стружки не сможет полностью это предотвратить.
@@CyberFighter86 The previous machine to this one, the LR3 was this same way as well. With MANY of these machines out in the world running no one has seen any problems with the chips getting under that side. It would take a huge amount to cause any problems. Just the few chips you see in this video wont change the height of the cut enough for you to even notice. This has come up a few times on the V1 forum ( forum.v1e.com ) and the Designer, Ryan can explain it way better than I can.
Awesome, JJ! Do you have a link to an stl file for the orange coupler? I'm assuming it goes from the 2.5" clear vacuum tube to the DC for the LR4? TY!
What Spindle do you have there? I'm looking into 80mm ones but the V4, without modification to the core, accepts up to 69mm.
@@dedicateddilettante I run a 65mm air cooled spindle 1.5kw. There is no need to go higher than 1.5kw and I just don’t want to deal with the water. Have not had any issues with the air cooled and I run it at 12k rpm’s all the time.
@@NorthWoodsCustomCreations Thank you kindly!
What happened at the end??
This was the original beta build, and I was pushing it about 4 times as hard as I would usually push it, trying to break things. And It skipped steps on Y and when it got to the end and started moving across X again it was now at a full depth pass and it was just too much for it. Not at all the machines fault. All of my Beta videos I was pushing it EXTREMELY hard. Our intent was to try and break things and find the weak points. I think we did a good job of that in the final version!
@@NorthWoodsCustomCreations ah I see, good stuff 👌 Currently printing it myself so let the fun begin 👍
@@iangraham6730 Thats awesome!! I know you will love it!
Wohoooo!
Looks nice! I'd love to see someone try this with the MKS closed-loop stepper drivers. They go for as little as $10 apiece on sale sometimes. CNC seems like an awesome place for them!
Awesome! V-bit carving really calls for accurate probing and I notice you did it slow and careful!
NICE!
i see the core has a slight flex is that because of the speed?
Oh yeah. I was pushing it WAY past what we would call normal speeds. And my gcode was not the best at all. But it took every bit of it and never complained 🙂
Totally agree ))..
Woo hoo! Looking awesome!
Thanks!
What type of screws are those, with the extra wide flats, that you’re using for edge hold-downs?
@@DocHogan they are pocket hole screws. The big flat built in washer makes them perfect for holding down without having to put a hole through the piece. You can also get shorter “washer head’’ screws. Same thing and works great
Was really wanting to build the V3.... but seems the V4 has been in beta for a bit now? How much longer until we can all build it? I don't know if I'm patient enough to wait a long time lol.
is your hot end fan on backwards?
It was. Was fixed right after this video was posted
That looks very promising! Is there any further information about the official release? I'm already planning to build a V3. Looking at the first impressions here, I'd rather wait a moment
We are now in the second stage of beta testing. I just completed my build and will be running it very soon. Its taking a little longer than we hoped but making really good progress! Will be worth the wait for sure!!!
@@NorthWoodsCustomCreations Thanks for your feedback! Then I'd rather wait for the updated version. I'm already looking forward to new features.
@@andrem5675 Good deal! Hopefully it wont be too much longer but too soon to know for sure unfortunately
Awesomeeeee 🔥🔥🔥
@@juanandrescarri27 thanks!
I noticed the little spider running for its life ;-)
Love it!
@@design8studio thank you!
LR4, have I missed something?
Still very much in the beta stage! Stay tuned for more Info coming soon!
I love it. I have an LR2 and was printing to upgrade to LR3. But seeing this I think I'll wait. If you have a few minutes, could you tell me the main advantages over LR3? Thank you.
Its too soon to know for sure. But at this current point its much stiffer than the LR3. We are just getting started with the Beta test. Once that is all done Ryan will make an official release. It is looking real good so far though!
@@NorthWoodsCustomCreations Cool! Thanks for the response! Its looks great!
👍
Let 'er rip, 'tator chip!
It was really going until whatever happened with the wires you're still working to organize. NICE
NICE!
Thank you!
Really, really neat. Thanks for showing us how well it works. :)
No problem Phillip! Glad I can share!!!
NICE!!!
Thanks Doug!
OMG, the very first LR4 cut!! Lucky dog!
Thank you for the opportunity!!! Wouldn't be happening without all your hard work and amazing design!
Nice build, looks clean!
@@georgijsnovikovs thank you!!
Made me giggle a bit, awesome work.
seems pretty dialed. klipper etc?
oh yes.... this is exactly what i wanted to do... put a real spindle on it. are the files floating around easy to find? or is this custom and if so can you share the stl. what spindle did you use
I use the vevor 1.5kw air cooled spindle. It is the same 65mm as the makita router. The splindle mount I use is my own edit. www.printables.com/model/360285-lr3-65mm-spindle-mount Here is a link for the spindle… www.vevor.com/spindle-motor-c_10130/1-5kw-air-cooling-spindle-motor-1-5kw-vfd-variable-frequency-drive-inverter-p_010306834877 It shows sold out right now but if you message them they can usually tell you how long until they will have more in. It’s usually not very long
i'm running a hardened insert nozzle where the insert is coated with anti-stick supposedly. so i'd probably not use brass, but for a regular nozzle who cares. it really seems like we could dovetail the open source simplicity of of the mp3dp with advanced open source stuff like rat rig and helge keck etc are putting out. like running ratos on an mp3dp and using a silicone nozzle wiper. of course those are simple examples.
is that the isopropyl spray thing i've been reading about? if you ever need anything plasma cut i'm west of hurley. i'm very interested in the performance it looks like you're getting out of the mp3dp too. i'm on the wait list for a rat rig v core 4 but will probably build an LR3 and mp3dp in the meantime. cheers mate. oh one other question ... is that estlcam you're using or something else?
Yes it is. Just a real fine mist. Keeps the aluminum ice cold even in 100° garage and it never has any problems galling on the bit. And yes I use Estlcam. It’s been working good. Waiting for Millmage to come out so I can give that a try as well!
use metal brush , it will be better ))) do not use silicon , best is sand paper 100
That’s a Brass brush I’m using. It’s working well
nice. what motors are you using for x and y?
I’m using the Honey Badger motors that came in the kit I bought from Fabreeko www.fabreeko.com/products/zero-g-ab-motors-by-honeybadger
Great job!
Thanks!!! When are you starting yours??? LOL
@@NorthWoodsCustomCreations not soon. Too much on me right now
@@design8studio I get that! Never enough time and always too many projects lol
Nice!
Thanks Doug!
make it go in circles on the brush
I will take a look at that. It would clean the nozzle better I'm sure! Thanks for the suggestion!
I recall the standard Marlin clean pattern is zigzag triangles; i'm sure you can implement this in other firmware in any number of ways
Good afternoon. What mill is in the machine? Found no information anywhere.
Here is the bit I used. I will go back and add it to the description www.v1e.com/products/carbide-single-flute
Would you be willing to share your printer.cfg file ? I've got almost the same build and I can't figure out the config part. It would really help to have one that's working to go off of. Any help would be really appreciated.
I have no problem sharing it, but it will be after April 25th before I have access to it. I work offshore and thats when I get back home. If you are still needing it by then I would be more than happy to send it to you. I have 2 other printers setup with github backups but I haven't gotten around to setting this one up yet or I would have access to it now.
My apologies, I guess I'm just loosing it! I did have it backed up to github. Hopefully this link works for you. The config needs to be cleaned up a lot. This printer is very much still in the tuning phase lol github.com/jonathjon/JJ-Ender-5-Plus/blob/main/printer_data/config/printer.cfg
Is this the mostly printed cnc from the v1 engineering page?
Yes this is the LowRider 3 version from V1. Awesome machines!!!!
Nice! Serial Number achievement unlocked...
I hope so LOL. We will see what Ryan says LOL
Nice!!
Same to you sir! Great design!!! I cant wait to get it tuned in and really printing well!!!
