Adventures of my friends and I, as we search for gemstones and minerals!
The search for Tasmanian Topaz
A quick adventure down in Tasmania searching for facet grade Topaz! It was very cold, and wet from the sleet and rain the night before. My gopro would not turn on so I ended up filming with my S10.

Finally back in the creek, Short explore for Sapphires!
Просмотров 527Год назад
Hey everyone, Its been awhile but I finally managed too get into the creek for another fossick! On this adventure, my friend Matt and I explore into the tassie rainforest, checking a new creek for gemstones. This one is raw, no music, and a very good example of an average day digging for gemstones in Tasmania! A big storm, cut this adventure short, once the lightning was out so were we.😆
Random explore leads to a new area full of Blue Sapphires!! "filmed with my phone"

Never give up! This is what i have learned on this adventure. After hours of test digging and walking, I was about to call it.. then I tested behind one more rock.. and this is when it started getting really good! Of course i didnt have my gopro, so I decided to get some close up shots with my phone.( I need some practice haha) This area is known for its topaz but i was surprised when I started...
Finding a Very Rare Tasmanian Sapphire!
Просмотров 18 тыс.2 года назад
In this video me some friends head out for a day of fossicking in a spot for sapphire. With plenty of rain this winter, the river had some flow and it wasnt easy getting into the areas amongst the rapids.. but little did I know.. it would end up being one of the best days I've had in the river!
Blue Sapphires on a rainy day

In this video me and my buddy Matt take advantage of our only day off from work, despite the bad weather. After searching bedrock crevices in the creek, there is finally some Blue in the sieve too make up for the lack of blue in the sky!😅 Enjoy! Usually at the end of the day Im pretty tired from the gem hunt, but I plan on adding a final "weighing"in of the stones I find with a closer look in m...

On today's adventure, we head into the forests of north east Tasmania in search of gemstones once again! I find a few topaz and sapphire, and we also came across a rather large tiger snake!! ( I quickly got my phone out and just captured it slithering into the crevice) I'm hoping too put together a longer video on my next adventure, this was a last minute adventure and I forgot too pack my spar...
Adventure To Fern Tree Falls, A Waterfall In St Helens, Tasmania
Просмотров 1723 года назад
In this video a friend and I go and check out Fern Tree Falls, a waterfall in St helens Tasmania. We have had plenty of rain over the past few days here in NE Tasmania, making it nearly impossibly too dig for gemstones... They say "don't go chasing waterfalls" but what else would you wanna do after a heavy rainfall?!🤷♂️😁 I uploaded this in 4k on my gopro 9 so make sure your quality settings ar...
Checking Tin Miners Tailings For GEMSTONES!
Просмотров 2,3 тыс.3 года назад
Here's a video exploring and prospecting some old tailings from a very old tin mine! During the big floods, the river also takes these tailings and concentrates them into small areas. This trip was more too get out and go camping, but I couldn't resist doing a few buckets and seeing if I could find some gemstones.. which I end up finding a few! Let me know if you spot the sneaky fish, in the un...
Another day Another bottle EP:2 Bottles, Spoons, and... a Butcher's Scale?
Просмотров 2543 года назад
In this episode of "Another Day Another Bottle" we head back too the old tin miners camp, in North East Tasmania thats featured in my last video! I find some interesting Bottles, Spoons, Tools, and even some sort of old Scale that the messy miners left behind! I checked most of the finds, and they all seem too date between 1940-1950. 🍿There are photos, and descriptions of the finds near the end...

Keep an eye out for thylacines mate.
Beautifull crystal
Yeh! a beautiful party colour in pink/blue. Will cut to an amazing stone if done properly. I have and seen some real beauties from the Willows gem field about 80 Km west of Emerald.Queensland. Over 50 years been there many times and never been disappointed.
Aleksandrite same 😉🤗☺😌 but sapphire
Never knew u can find them with stones.. BS!!
Black spinel is the indicated stone when we are digging for gemstones, there is plenty of it in Australia and other locations
Why don’t you flip the sieve?
Hey Jonathan, I usually move around a lot while digging and a lot of times there's no where to flip. I find working the bottom sieve like a gold pan(the the corner) is a much quicker way..which means I can go through more gravel!

Hi mate. Ive been trying to find info on gemstones as such. And the laws are extremely unclear for tasmainia prospecting I know you need a prospectors license to fossik in non designated areas, and i think you possibly own the minerals you find? Thats the part i find unclear, are you allowed to do what you want with rocks and gems / can you sell them? Or are they owned by crown land?... Finding it extremely difficult to find any answers. I see plenty of crystals and gemstones on ebay for sale and im just generally curious of the laws.
Beautiful stone, parti sapphire..?
Hey bro that sapphire is worth a lot of money
Great to watch. How often do you come across the Tassie giant freshwater crays?
Good job ! I know it's so much fun to find beautiful rocks.
Corundum
just wondering what the music was for your clip and gee that place is beautiful

Hey brother any idea if Corra Linn Tasmania has any sapphires lurking around as I’m only in ravenswood aboit 20 minutes on the yamaharley from the corra linn river
Hey mate, ive never really looked into the geology of that area. I do know there is sapphire apperently around lisle and I've heard rumours if some towards launceston.. but worth taking the sieves and get behind a big rock and see what the river is hiding away😀
diamond
Is he storing the gems in his mouth 🤔 Would LOVE to dig for gems and crystals
Yes it is the safest place when your in the creek😅 If your ever down in Tasmania, I dont mind helping others find some great stones!
@@offyourfacetprospecting lol please don't choke on it 😅 Unfortunately I'm in South Africa
Great quality, but please film in landscape so it fills the screen. Nice finds. Wish I had gem hunting in my area. Here in north Texas I'm limited to mostly fossils.
Thanks for the suggestions! Ill definetly try landscape next time. Sorry for the lack of videos lately, life sure has its way of keeping me busy lately(moving, broken wrist) but I should be back into it soon! Do you get many different fossils in Texas? Definetly worth a trip up towards montana for sapphire.
@@offyourfacetprospecting We get mostly ancient sea creatures around here. Ammonites, sea biscuits, bivalve shells, and a few teeth. And lots of petrified wood. I think some archeologists did a dig back in the 70s and found a giant prehistoric sea turtle over where we get the teeth.
Nice video, area and stone. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you, it sure was a special day! I have been slack with the content at the moment(broken wrist) but ill soon be at it again!
Where I live in NSW table lands my brother an I have been getting tonnes of topaz, citrine, spinel diamonds found 1500 carat topaz yellow in colour seems topaz in tassy is small compared to the mainland we find heaps of sapphires but there small as keep an eye out for diamonds there in every creek from tassy to cape York dude most people miss them thinking there quartz or crystal pieces mad vid bro
You and your brother are living the life mate! The topaz here is definerly on the smaller side and the bigger pieces always seem too be included. Although on flinders and very few areas you can yield few hundred ct specimens! Ill keep my eyes peeled, there is some reports on the west coast where diamonds have been found.. cheers dude glad i tested one more time that day lol. Happy fossicking!
Are you Australian or American I cant tell but I will tell you under the Australian constitution if your Australian you can legally prospect but if you not an Australian citizen you cant its illegal an can be fined if you become an Australian citizen your fine
As a permanent resident, with a fossicking permit you are definetly allowed to fossick/prospect abiding by the rules. I have been a permanent resident for nearly 10 years now, just havent had the time to look into citizenship or the extra cash. Even non Australian tourist's can get a miners right/fossick permit and have a go.
@@offyourfacetprospecting that's cool dude as a permanent resident you can do fossicking but for tourists it is still illegal under the Australian constitution but the government doesn't enforce it hey ya vids are cool man I do plenty of fossicking with my brother in northern NSW been finding lots of cool topaz you should apply for citizenship Australia is a great place to call home bro good luck fossicking
thats nuts man
Usually they are far apart but i think i was in very old or un touched material as it was in a small hole in the bedrock a few feet or so below overburden! They are small, but i was pretty stoked
@@offyourfacetprospecting gotta luv a honey hole mate very well done
👍👌 awesome mate
Thanks mate👍, if only we could melt them into one 🤣😉
Sweet as man - nice colours too
Thanks man, was very surprised seeing such little dud compared too gemmy material..doesnt happen often
Phone video is good enough quality in my books.
Thanks mate, it certainly shows the gems better 👍. I also lost my tripod, so once that arrives ill film the digging/adventures with the gopro.. and gems with my phone. Thanks again!
@@offyourfacetprospecting I look forward to watching when it arrives!
Lovely little fella’s.
Thanks Jeff, it was a great end to the day and a nice little mix of colour's
Gday cobba is this in the north east of Tassie? I’m just getting into jems don’t really know what I’m doing yet😂 been prospecting gold off and on for years but I now live in tin, gold and Jem country not just gold🙂
Hey jason, this is the north of Tas. Its definetly worth getting some sieves and spending some summer days out there!
Just brought my first set of sieves watching lots of vids like yours and looking on maps to find some desirable places I live in the north east there’s gold on one side of me and tin, gems on the other just got to wait for the rivers/creeks to go down a tad more then it’s on🙂 give us a holler if your ever up this way 🙂
@@FeatherHorseforge Always good to be surrounded by it all
