Honestly Cataclysm is a very cliche first extreme to go for, I mean it's either this level or Acu when it comes to first extremes, and Acu is definitely a better pick as your first.
Do not pick this level as your first extreme, you'll regret it.
ALSO don't jump to this level from like a hard demon or something because that's a massive mistake and you'll hate yourself if you try that, just stick to beating hard and insane demons until you feel like you're ready for something harder. Don't let this level hate the game for you.

    Now what I actually think of this level; For being one of the most important levels in GD history, it's ass. Like ok the old version was a little better because it was more balanced but it doesn't excuse the fact that this level plays like ass, almost on purpose I think. That's a pretty well known fact though, so let's get into the nitty gritty of things: The first wave obviously is the hardest part, no question about that. If you want to know how to get consistent at the wave then let me tell you in on a little secret I learned: Get good Like seriously there's no trick to this part except just practice it. Contrary to popular belief, this part DOES get consistent as the wave follows a rhythm that you can master by muscle memory. For the most part, at least. As the first three clicks of the mini wave follow this rhythm well, and aren't that hard to pass once mastered. It's the fourth click that's the problem. The fourth click comes out of a size portal that guarantees that no matter what you do, you'll always end up in a slightly different position when it comes to time the click. This means that this click goes from something that you can master via a rhythm to being an actual god awful timing as you only have 1-3 frames on 60hz to pass this click. And that's not even the end of it! There's a bug with this part where if you're too early then you can pass the corridor but die to the second big gravity portal because of how the hitbox works. Basically as a small wave, your hitbox is small enough to just barely avoid the structure. But when you hit the portal, your hitbox expands into the structure and you die. This shit is fucking annoying as zeig because you think you'll be out of the woods and into the next part, just to die to a fucking bug. The rest of the wave is fine besides 15% being weirdly hard and nobody says that it's hard anywhere online. Maybe it's just me? Now it's time for more bugs and shit gameplay! This time it's the transition from the wave to the first ship part. Basically you'll always enter this transition differently which means that sometimes you'll get a bad alignment that will either make the ship part harder to enter, or make the transition impossible if you're unlucky enough. There's no way to know what transition you're gonna get and the only way around it is to buffer the pink orb every time and react to what you get. The ship part sucks for a few reasons. One is that the portals are invisible, which is unnecessary but you'll learn where they are if you practice it, so I guess it's not a big issue. Two is that I suck and couldn't get through some of the ship gaps because their click patterns aren't the best. Overall it's an ok part. Small mini wave interlude is ok. The transition once again sucks where I basically have to spam through it every time which in some scenarios I end up dying because I get a bad alignment. Also half the part is invisible, which makes no sense as the old version had the whole wave visible, so why make this change in the new version? It's not like the waves are hard, it's just annoying when you rarely die because you can't see where the structure is. The ball part is also just ok. The visuals are pretty unique for 1.9 but the gameplay isn't very good. The first half of the ball is ok, but the second half is where I have issues, and it's not really the level's fault for this. Basically the ball's hitbox is a square instead of a circle. Not sure why this is the case besides maybe making hit detection easier? Either way this means that the hitbox is further out than what the ball sprite implies, making these clicks way harder than they look. The click going from the 1x gravity speed to the 0.5x gravity speed has to be clicked way earlier than you may think just to pass it. Once again not the level's fault but still shit either way. Let's skip to the ship at 40%. This and the wave are the two main reasons as to why a lot of people choose not to go for this level, and I don't blame them to be honest. However, this part can be mastered. There's a click pattern that I learned that could get me to pass the part about 20% of the time, or 1/5 of the time. So yeah pretty low odds but it's still something. Basically as the big ship, you wanna click 3 times while inside the Clubstep Monster, this will get you to align with the mini portal almost every time. But it's the mini ship where the main issue is. The issue is that, not only is there no click pattern here besides just doing controlled straight fly. Which isn't easy because the spikes are stupid close to each other, but also because the transition into the Clubstep Monster isn't consistent. Sometimes you'll be too high up and you'll fail to even make it in, other times you'll be too low and fly under, sometimes you'll just be too high up where you make it in but not out, and vice versa. It sucks, but it's not impossible to do consistently. Anyways the orbs here suck too, they're placed further back so that if you try to click them too early you'll miss and die. Also there's a few bugs that can happen with them too, mainly just the transition into the cube part. Anyways the cube part; This part is carried only by the nerves you'll receive after passing 40% As it's only medium-difficulty timings. Only things to note here is that the click at 48% is a micro click and that the orb chain right after it can be skipped if you want. The ball part is really easy. The only hard part is the ball that's in the middle of it because the clicks are kinda close together. Nothing worth mentioning here. The final ship is where the level picks up again. This part is overall the best-hard part because it's all skill based and there's no unfair shit and bad transitions to ruin it, it's just the level and your skills at play here. First of all the second Clubstep Monster is harder than the first one because it's just a tighter straight fly. Keep this in mind if you get here. The two structures after that aren't that hard besides the first one being a little hard to enter into, that's it. Now the dual is where my main issue is. First of all get the coin in the middle. It's easier and if you don't then you're kinda a moron. After that is the toughest straight in the level, even harder than 40% in my opinion. You have to fly though a 1 tile gap with the added gravity of the dual ship while also avoiding the other spikes around it. This part is a major chokepoint and I died here 7 times. Get good at this part and even do 70-100 before going for 63-100 because you'll gain some experience with how to pass this part. I passed the gap by just clicking really fast in a consistent manner to be as straight as possible. This gap is the reason why gays can't beat Cataclysm ;) The straight after that isn't as hard as it looks, I never died here. What I did die to though was the swurve up into the high up structure. Basically if your P1 icon is too low in the portal then the swurve becomes way harder and more inconsistent. Try having your P1 icon (usually the lower one) as high as possible to make the maneuver easier. The last parts are all just nerve control. Don't let your nerves overcome you and stay focused. Take controlled breaths if you have to, and don't fuck up the last ship part, then you win! :D Overall this level isn't the best level out there. If you want to have a good time on your first Extreme Demon, then go for Acu, if you're already a few Extremes in, then by all means go for this level too. AND NO. THIS IS NOT AN INSANE DEMON!!!

    I actually beat this level about 2 weeks ago but didn't make this video till now because I'm a lazy fuck who takes 7 months to build 1 level. But that's a story for another year. What do I think of this level? Well for starters, this level is pretty unbalanced. Unbalanced levels are typical for most levels before 2.1, so there are no surprises. Besides, this level is mostly known for the art during the final ship, or the fact that it used to be about as hard as a current-day top 120ish. This is my completion of the current version. You know, the "better" one? I'll start by saying that the first 13% of the level is composed of 3 difficult timings and 4 easy timings. Since this part is literally the beginning of the level, you should get used to these timings quickly. From 13% to 21%, you got whatever the fuck you call these mirror portal jump-pad things. I'll just call them bozotowers. There are 10 bozotowers to pass and the best way to pass them is to do a double click with the spacebar before each one. that way you'll both jump and press the orb as quickly as possible. The exception to this is the bozotower at 18% which you'll pretty much always hit the pad instead of jumping so you can just buffer that orb. Then you got the two clicks at 20%. These clicks are ass because the mirror portal makes them blind timings. Not much to say here other than the fact that you kinda of just get used to when to time it. It's kinda odd but hey if it works it works. 21% to 28% is another cube with nothing too much to talk about. Most of these jumps are just weird-ass gimmicks MaJacko made back in the day that are easy and free. Except for the timing at 24%. That timing very well shall be the damn hardest timing in this whole level. 24% acts as a gatekeeper to getting a good run and is ass in how you gotta click just early enough to not die to the top spike but not too late to die to the other one. And if you think you're far enough to survive then you probably aren't. This timing is an ass. The ball, ship, and cube parts after that timing are free as hell to where you should never die to these parts. The timings in the ball are easier than they look and the ship got ligma-nerfed from the original straightfly. Not much more to say. Now the UFO part is interesting. MaJacko nerfed the spam to be more forgiving but to be honest I don't even think he needed to nerf it. Just makes the "hands" look like they got put through a particle accelerator and got gazongered. At 51% you got to stop spamming and actually play a decent UFO section. Well, at least for 2 seconds you can. Then you gotta spam again. And this spam is fucking nuts. There are three ways to do the spam at 54%. 1 - Go under the blue pads and then up over the other two. 2 - Go into the blue pads and pray they don't give you a wet willy. 3 - Spam at literally over 15cps with both the spacebar and the up arrow key to soar over the blue pads and then stay over the other two. Doesn't matter which route you choose as they all suck and are inconsistent. I chose route 3 as it was the most consistent one of the three I could find. Take the middle route at 59%, not sure why you'd take the other routes. 60% to 66% is another weird ass break part. at 63% you got this ligma-looking ship part because MaJacko was too much of the Zhong Ling-Zingler to figure out how to nerf this part and just chose the lazy way of adding a ship portal because he (allegedly) loves ship art (the bad kind). The cube afterward is actually pretty challenging. All these timings are relatively difficult especially the one at 69% with the pink orb as you gotta click way later than you may think at first. With enough practice, this whole part becomes easy, however. This is why I suggest doing 60%-100% at least before doing runs from 0%. (I recommend doing 27%-100% as well). 70% got these weird spike things that are weird, pretty weird for a weird level, ae? 74% to the last ship is pretty standard, actually. Just jump late at 74% and make sure to jump as soon as your cube touches the "jump indicator" at 77%. Not while it's in the center of it, right before you touch it. Otherwise, the jank of the spike structure will kill you. Then you can just hold and press a few orbs and you're at the last part. One thing to mention though is that if you fuck up the orb timing at 80% right next to the ship portal then you have a chance to go way over the top when transitioning in and fucking up all your shit. Just hit it a little late. The final ship part is by far the best visually and is the part most people remember. I'll be honest the art here for 1.5 actually isn't that bad. It's a shame it's bundled with elephant-ass fiddlers. 2.2 made the gravity portal at 87% visible which is cool I guess. The whole ship part is more of a nerve check than anything. most to note is that the hitbox at 89% is tighter than you think, so don't fuck that up. The click at 92% and the gap after is are asscrack and are just, weird. Not too difficult just weird to get your ship through. Now in the video, you may notice that at 94% I skip the gravity orb. This is because I found it way easier to time your inputs at the last Clubstep Monster while in regular gravity for a couple of reasons. Mainly if you do go upside-down here then you gotta hit the other orb and then correct yourself in a tight-ass corridor to not die. While timing the input at 95% isn't too hard despite me dying to it once before. The hitbox here is actually way lower than you think and it's only 1 click. If you're going for this level and you struggle to do that readjusting at this part then do what I do because I found it to be easier. Overall I don't suggest going for this level as your first Insane demon. This level gets to you rather quickly and the predrop will have you stuck for a while. The timings are ass and the gameplay isn't necessarily frustrating as it is offputting. This level's gameplay is some of the weirdest gameplay out of any level from this era and really shines out because so. Not in a very good way, but still. I can't quite tell if this level is harder than other levels I've completed around it such as Alphabet X or Hazardsector 1 (79%). I only say it's my hardest because of the attempt count. I beat this 2 days after getting 27%-100% and that's what I predict will happen to you if you get the same run. I'll try to post more often soon! :D Edit: spelling mistakes

    The real object limit in 1.4 is 4096 because anything higher than that won't get uploaded to the servers and it was really problematic because 6000 was the highest object count you could place in the editor. There might be some hacks which could allow you to upload levels with more than 4096 objects though

      I agree mostly with how bright some parts are. This level's color scheme is very close to the original colors for the old version. I didn't want to stray too far from that version. I think this level suffers the most just from using mostly player colors which suck sometimes.

    Deadass this is the first time since bloodlust i've seen someone make an intro for a level longer than 2 minutes 💀 Very good level though, i like the stuff it uses and the gimmicks look interesting. Good job on finishing it.

      Intro was more of a celebration of the connections and community I've made with some of the members of the series. They truly were the motivaters to get this level released and I want to thank them all again for a 4th time now! (probably coulve shortened it but I didn't want to cut the song prematurely.)
