    Do you know how they enforce 30 days living requirement in Sarawak? Can someone simply book 30 days in hotel and not live there 🤔

    • @OfficialMM2HResources
      @OfficialMM2HResources 4 дня назад

      The 30-day living requirement in Sarawak under the MM2H program is designed to ensure that participants genuinely reside in the state. While booking a hotel for 30 days might seem like an option, the authorities typically monitor compliance closely. Pass holders must renew their S-MM2H pass annually, which requires proof of residency. This can include documentation such as hotel invoices or other records, but the intent is to discourage temporary or insincere arrangements. Additionally, applicants must stay a minimum of 30 days each year in Sarawak to maintain their status, so regular inspections or checks could be part of this enforcement process

    Talking up the MM2H with plenty of BS won't make it work. One only needs to look at the many negative comments on videos addressing the new MM2H to see through the bluster. IMHO an appreciable percentage of those taking it up now will be keen to move their money around in an opaque manner with questionable motivation or background at their point of origin. I hope careful security and $ laundering procedures are in place.

      I understand your concerns. It’s essential for any program like MM2H to maintain transparency and proper regulations to prevent misuse. While there are mixed opinions, many participants genuinely appreciate the lifestyle and opportunities it offers. Hopefully, the authorities will continue to enforce strict measures to ensure that it operates smoothly and securely. What specific changes or improvements would you like to see in the program?

    Can you tell me where you got the information that S-MM2H visa holder can live anywhere in Malaysia? This is contrary to what yoy stated in the video.

      Thanks for your comment! You’re correct that the latest version of the Sarawak-MM2H approval letter states that holders are 'allowed to travel to West Malaysia except to reside there.' However, many MM2H agents and holders have mentioned that this clause isn’t strictly enforced. In fact, Sarawak’s Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, Mr. Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, said in a written response to CNA that Sarawak-MM2H participants can live anywhere in Malaysia, as long as they fulfill the minimum stay requirement of 30 days a year in Sarawak.

Targeting those with a net worth between US$2m - US$5m is a strategic move to bring in high-net-worth individuals, primarily from the region. Comparing with Hong Kong, Malaysia offers a more affordable cost of living and larger living spaces, making it an attractive option for many. The program's aim is to balance attracting investment while ensuring sustainable development and quality of life for participants. Each country has its own approach, and Malaysia's strategy is tailored to its unique strengths and goals.

      MM2H is not a residency program nor a retirement program. What you get is a Visit Pass (Social). Basically a long term visit visa, you get zero benefits such as paying the same rates for attractions as citizens do, you pay tourist rates. A huge amount of money for something that gives you just the right to "remain" (not reside - look at the wording) in Malaysia long term. For the people complaining about the requirement to be in Malaysia for 90 days in any year - if you aren't going to be there that many day then why get this visa - come on a tourist visit, enjoy the many things Malaysia has to offer and save money with no long term financial commitment. Many retirees have sold assets in their home country so that they have security in the event of illness etc in old age, the last thing they want to do is have to purchase a property in a foreign country. Imagine the problems you leave for your family should you die, trying to deal with the cancellation of your visa and sale of your property. Malaysia has a bad reputation of poor maintenance and a 10 year old property may not give you a return on your investment. There was an announcement saying you had to purchase from a developer - what about the tens of thousands of vacant properties that are owned by Malaysian individuals who now will not get a look in? The program has bounced around for two years with the anticipation of attracting the very rich, I don't see the likes of Bill Gates and Elon Musk stampeding towards Malaysia, there are so many alternatives. Complaining of property overhand is pretty hypocritical when there are high rise apartment blocks going up everywhere. The FD and requirement to owning a property are short term gain, as soon as a person leaves the program they sell up and take everything with them. Surely attracting people with a good security check to open a reasonable FD as a security measure and then requiring them to rent a property with a minimum month stipulation would put money directly into the Malaysian economy that cannot be taken back out. Sorry, but I think the program is a pie in the sky idealistic attempt at using foreigners to solve the housing crisis that is sadly doomed to fail.

    My question is about renewing after the initial term of the visa has expired? Specifically, I want to know if the Silver tier MM2H (5 years) is renewable more than once - especially with a mandatory real estate purchase? How many renewals are available, or am I done at 10 years (1 renewal)? Same question for Sarawak MM2H - how many renewals will be available? Thank you.

      Silver Tier MM2H Initial Term: The Silver tier MM2H visa is issued for an initial term of 5 years. Renewability: The visa can be renewed every 5 years. There is no specified limit on the number of renewals, implying that the visa can be renewed more than once. Mandatory Real Estate Purchase: Participants are required to purchase and own a house with a minimum value of RM600,000. This purchase must be made after receiving approval for the program. Renewal Requirements: For each renewal, applicants must submit updated documents including a valid passport, medical report, and health insurance. The renewal fee is RM1,500 for the principal and dependents. Sarawak MM2H Initial Term and Renewals: The Sarawak MM2H program also allows for a 5+5 years term (initial 5 years with a possible extension for another 5 years). Renewability: Participants can renew their visa after the initial 10-year period as long as they continue to meet the program’s requirements. Mandatory Real Estate Purchase: Sarawak MM2H do not require applicants above 59 years old to purchase property, while applicants below 50 years old need to meet one of there requirements in Sarawak: property purchase (requirement to own a residential house in Sarawak with a minimum price of RM600,000 for Kuching or RM500,000 for other divisions), education for their children or long term medical treatment in Sarawak. Renewal Requirements: The renewal process involves submitting a letter of intent, the original and copy of the applicant's passport, relevant forms (IMM.55, IMM.38 if applicable), the latest certified fixed deposit statement, the conditional approval letter, and an original medical report with the completed RB II form for the applicant and dependents. In summary, both the Silver tier MM2H and Sarawak MM2H visas can be renewed more than once, and there is no fixed limit on the number of renewals as long as the participants meet the renewal requirements.

    Shouldn't the state such as Sabah adhere to the Tourism Industry Act 1992? If it doesn't, its criteria that's currently being used to attract would be residents will not be approved and people who apply, risk their applications not being approved. Very dicey!

    • @OfficialMM2HResources
      @OfficialMM2HResources 2 месяца назад

      Thank you for your comment! The Tourism Industry Act 1992 is indeed a significant piece of legislation that sets the framework for tourism activities across Malaysia. However, it's important to note that Sabah, along with Sarawak, has some autonomy and specific regulations that may differ from federal guidelines due to their unique status within Malaysia. This includes certain criteria and policies related to attracting residents and tourism initiatives. While it's crucial for states to align with national laws, Sabah's specific regulations are designed to cater to its unique context and objectives. The criteria used to attract residents are tailored to local needs and circumstances, which sometimes might not completely mirror the federal act but are still within the legal framework. However, we do understand the concern about application approvals. Prospective residents should thoroughly understand both state and federal requirements to ensure a smooth application process. Consulting with local authorities or legal experts can also provide clarity and help mitigate any risks associated with the application process. I hope this clarifies your concern. If you have more questions or need further information, feel free to ask!

      Thank you for your comment and for bringing up the concern regarding the travel permission requirement for Sabah MM2H visa holders. It's understandable to be worried about how this might affect the number of applicants. According to the CNA article, it appears that Sabah MM2H holders need to obtain approval from Sabah's immigration authority before traveling to West Malaysia. While this requirement might seem like a potential hurdle, it's important to note that the specifics of how this will be enforced are still unclear. Domestic travel from East Malaysia to West Malaysia is generally unrestricted, so it's possible that the process for obtaining approval might be straightforward and not overly burdensome. Ultimately, the impact on the number of applicants will depend on how the authorities implement and communicate these requirements.

      I understand your concern about the RM40K agent fee. It does seem quite high compared to other costs associated with the program. It might be helpful for authorities to review and possibly lower these fees to make the program more accessible. Transparency about what these fees cover and ensuring they provide real value to applicants could also help justify the costs. I understand the skepticism. The new MM2H program has indeed raised its financial requirements and includes a mandatory property purchase, which some see as a way to address unsold properties. However, it's also part of a broader strategy to attract higher-net-worth individuals and ensure their significant economic contribution. While the name 'Malaysia Unsold Property Scheme' might reflect one perspective, the program still offers many benefits, such as a lower cost of living, diverse culture, and strategic location in Southeast Asia. It's essential to weigh all factors before forming an opinion. Constructive criticism is valuable, but it’s also important to recognize the potential benefits for those who fit the program’s new target demographic.

      @OfficialMM2HResources 2 месяца назад

      You make a valid point. Long-term retirees can indeed provide steady economic benefits through consistent spending on housing, healthcare, and daily living expenses. Programs like MM2H should consider balancing the attraction of high-net-worth individuals with incentives for retirees who can contribute to the local economy over a long period. By designing a program that caters to both demographics, Malaysia could maximize its economic benefits while offering diverse options for potential residents. Enhancing the attractiveness for retirees, such as by providing more flexible financial requirements, could help bring in a larger number of retirees who will invest in the community for years to come.

      Thank you for sharing your thoughts. The Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) program is designed to attract foreigners who wish to reside in Malaysia for extended periods, contributing to the local economy through property investments and spending. Here are a few points to consider: Economic Contribution: MM2H participants often bring substantial financial resources, which can stimulate various sectors, including real estate, tourism, and services, benefiting local businesses and creating job opportunities for Malaysians. Property Ownership: There are specific regulations to ensure that MM2H participants do not adversely impact the local housing market. For example, there are minimum property price thresholds they must meet, which are often higher than those required for local buyers. Government Subsidies: MM2H participants do not have access to most government subsidies intended for Malaysians, such as healthcare and education subsidies. They are required to have private health insurance and pay for their own children's education. Cultural Exchange and Skills: The program encourages cultural exchange and can bring diverse skills and knowledge that can complement the local workforce, potentially leading to collaborative growth and development. Regulated Entry: The government regulates the number and profile of MM2H applicants to ensure that the program aligns with Malaysia's national interests and economic goals.
