Thanks for the videos! An unsupported eight inch group at fifty yards is practical and effective for 9 mm. The comments suggest that Mcarbo upgrades will improve reliability. I am looking at 9 mm carbines again.

anyone compare magpuls' own LR53 vs lets say a pelican v800 with the add-on daka grid/pieces? same tight fitment? i was speaking to magpul they were suggesting their cases integrated far better than adding to another case. wondering if your experience is what they are sort of referencing or you just didn't have available the kit to perfect fit your case.

I have several AR15s, and one AK 47. 4 of my ARs are in 223/556, 1 each in 224Y and 6.5 Grendel. I still went with a mini 14 in 223/556. If I run across a 300 blackout mini 14 I would snatch it up. I have a lot more experience with 223/556, lots of ammo, brass and reloading equipment. The mini 30 is a great choice if you like the round. Basically, pick one or both, there isn't a bad choice.

If the shots are low at 25 yds, they are, of course, going to be low are 50 yds. In fact, they will be further off target (low).

Install tech sight (rear) and "Mo reaper" (front) w/ muzzle brake..big improvement! Also, trigger can b easily improved at home by cutting spring and polishing (google). Finally, add wolf SS extended firing pin and shoot steel cased all day, every day w/out LPS's. I personally painted and clear coated the front ball sight on the upgraded "Mo Reaper" , with green florescent paint... adding the ATI stock for side mounted flashlight and I'm able to place the illuminated sighted ball onto a circular 12"/17" steel target perfectly at 315 yrds. making consistent hits every day, all day! Conclusion: ideal for SHTF! I personally have used red dots/scopes, but train with iron's.. don't wish to rely on battery powered optics 🧐 PS I did however, drill out the rear aperture slightly and adjusted the elevation/windage @25/100 and enjoy the mini 30 with confidence using the irons...Big improvement over factory 👍

...mounting a sight is considered a modification? I'm debating if I want my legion's slide cut. I feel like it can effect the resale value.

I think a laser is great for beginners and home defense.

Russian ammo has notoriously hard primers and may have worked if you ran them a second time. Enhanced firing pins are available. Try some better quality ammo and you may get better accuracy and reliably out of your Mini 30. It will never be a tack driver but it can do better.

I picked up a mid 80's stainless steel Mini 14 at a police surplus auction just before the whole covid thing. It's reliable and is reasonably accurate with the iron sights. I have been thinking about getting one of those harmonic stabilizers to see if it makes any difference. It came with a 20-round Ruger law enforcement marked mag but I run it with the flush fitting Ruger 5 round mags.

Get a mlok pic rail section and mount your light on the forend of your stock

I will stick with my mini 14. I thought I saw some keyholing on a few of your mini 30 shots plus every review I've watch on the mini 30 had that light strike/bad primer issue'

Slow down a little and breath between get a sandbags your table to rest the Stalk on.nor your elbows.i have a mini 30 and you should get better groups.just take time between shot and make them count.

I got a Romeo 7 SIG RDO for mine. Works great. Zeroed it at 25 yards. Whatever that 2 moa dot can be placed on will get hit!

I personally have the Mini30 just because I own a few ARs in 5.56 and only one AK, hence my Mini30. I have not use the Iron since purchased, I've had a Primary Arms MD-25 on it since purchased and has been accurate enough with the red dot, as for the light primer strikes, I've initially had the same issue but have fixed the problem by installing an ASI firing pin. Now my Mini30 eats everything up, foreign and domestic ammo(brass and steel ammo), it is a bit expensive at $50-$70 for a firing pin but worth it when comparing the prices of steel and brass 7.62x39 ammo. The Mini30 is accurate and reliable in my opinion the way i have it set up. Stockwise, I've had my Mini30 in a Promag Archangel Stock and it is NICE, adjustable to your likings for hunting. One thing i would suggest is getting and installing the the Mcarbo trigger spring on both as well as polishing the trigger, I've brought my trigger pull weight down to a smidge over 4lbs.

Great video. Hey the placement of that pressure switch seems redundant. Your pump hand isn’t even resting there. Why wouldn’t you put the switch down where you grip? It’s just looked uncomfortable for you. But each their own huh? It was flickering

How much of a difference did each rail make in regards to light height? I have the recovery rail currently but was looking to get something that looks a little more streamlined and holds my olight a little closer to the muzzle. Thanks

I think the reason for the cutout of the Picatinny Rail is to allow the bolt to be inserted during reassembly. At least if you follow the Ruger instructions in the order of assembly. You might be able to put the bolt in before you put the receiver in the stock. Not sure about the lever linkage that moves the bolt.

I am a new owner, I shot about 150 rds on day one. grouping was really tight with a red dot. My vertical grip came in 2 days later and wow!! I am also using Glock 32 Rd mags.

Looks like if you try sitting down with that thing in your pocket, it’s gonna jab you in the gut.

No retention screw and the straps are too wide. Galco or Ritchie Leather Co especially are better.

I went in halves with a friend to buy the Mini 14 when it first came out it didn’t have the finger guard but was like the original M-14, it cost $120.00. I went off to Colorado for a couple of years and he sold it without telling me until I got back home. I would have paid him the difference we went in on. No more joint ventures after that.

if you need to move the stays somewhere there isnt a mounting hole, just get screw-on magnets from home depot, and you can put them wherever you want, without drilling.

Glad to see u sticking with the iron sights. A few suggestions as others have said. Tech sights, the factory gives a decent sight pic, but are so hard to fine tune. U will probably be disappointed with scope. Adds to much weight, and the accuracy just isnt there. Try a 6" bullseye rule for 100 yards. 3" at 50, and 12" at 200. U will get the same sight pic at every distance. Had both, I choose the 14 for the higher quality ammo

If the output is really the same in a 7a with a 3.0v cr123 vs the 7x with a 3.7v rcr123, then the electronics must be different. Better be careful using a rcr123 in the 7a. I doubt streamlight recommends it.

How long can it sustain turbo until it becomes too hot and steps down the power on you? I have a tk16 v2.0 and turbo gets hot pretty fast

Now they should make their own pants to go with their taq-straps. I have a dynamic drop leg (they really need stuff to mount on here besides magazines and a firearm, maybe like a flashlight mount or flashlight and handcuff mount where your would normally put a firearm holster in with the QDS). I also have a regular drop leg from them. Rapid Force Duty Holster. I love it. Still playing with it. Don't yet have my optics or light for it. (Glock 17) if anyone has recommendations for that specific holster. This one I chose is for larger lights. Not the compact. I'm going to change my regukar strap to a taq strap. The regular one just isn't tight enough at it's tightest. Taq strap is surprisingly comfortable, too. Only just starting to use this stuff. Ordered it back in february. So still kind of setting it all up. Adjusting it etc.

same product with a battery upgrade… people will buy to have the illusion of a newer product but simply put that you're going to buy the same light twice with maybe a few micro differences apart from the rechargeable battery hmm …(o.O) kinda sounds like apple products...

The Mini 30 has a 308 barrel. 7.62x39 ammo has 311 projectiles. This is perfectly safe because Ruger made the gun to use surplus ammo. However, when I had one, I quickly discovered that it was only reliable with brass cased ammo (which isn't surplus). Much investigation followed. Copper clad ammo wouldn't cycle reliably. It always went "bang," but about every second or third round would fail to eject. The other steel cased ammo available was the lacquer coated stuff. And yes, you'll still see some occasionally. The lacquer cases would cycle reliably if the box was "fresh." If exposed for any length of time, it would start to have failures to extract - about every fourth or fifth round. Another issue with lacquer cases was when things got hot from rapid shooting. I learned very quickly to leave the bolt open when taking time to check the targets. And I discovered that cleaning after range time was best done with lacquer thinner on the bolt and chamber. People tell me I'm all wet when I say this, but a whole host of issues disappeared when I started doing that. With polymer coated cases that we now have, I doubt this would be an issue, but I assure you lacquer coated cases can be. No, it wasn't an extractor problem. No, it wasn't bad ammo. I also had an SKS at the same time, and it ran the same stuff without any problems, and the Ruger ran like a sewing machine with all brass cases. I always figured it was due to tighter tolerances in the Ruger. I liked the rifle, but I didn't want to restrict myself to US commercial ammo - so..........

I’ve used the 3speed belly band for years and love it. It’s made to the gun and accessories. Maybe if I was skinny this bigger belly band would be ok, but I like the skinny belt and the complete gun coverage so it doesn’t touch my skin.

I have the mini 14 with the folding stock. Love it shoots great. 100 yards no problem.. when i purchased it the gun was shooting 5 or 6 ft low. Sent it to Ruger and they returned it with a 75 yard target with a 3 shot 1 inch group.

I have both guns, the 30 is a blued wood stock Ranch model, the 14 is a stainless tactical with a black composite stock. I choose 7.62 x39 over .556 any day. Has nothing to do with the guns, both are awesome.
