How did it go???

​@fishingfanatic. I wish I could say we slayed them, but it wouldn't be true. What IS true is that we had trouble with bait. I like to use grunts and pinfish, so I built a small, but really nice recirculating baitwell so we could have the option to buy bait in addition to catching bait. Since it is very dark there at night we knew that catching our own would be difficult. So we finally found a pinfish/grunt mixture at a small baitshop in Seminole. We are not sure why but our bait didn't make the 4 hours until it was time to go fishing. We even stopped and changed the water before we went to catch a nap. When we got up to go, all had died. We have had many more baits in this baitwell for twice as long with no problem, so we just can't figure out what happened! We could have went and fished in the morning and caught our own bait, but that weekend was so hot and packed with people, that we voted against it and joined the tourists shopping. Since then,I I bought a really bright green night fishing light that we tried at the Skyway's southern fishing pier and boy does it light up the water and attract greenbacks! That is until the Tarpon showed up. You can't do much with a Tarpon from a pier, but we teased them with some NLBN baits doing figure 8's on the surface. We would allow them to almost kiss the baits, before pulling it away at the last second! We noticed that a few really big ones were getting faster and more aggressive, like they were getting pissed! So we finally quit teasing them! There was about a dozen that stayed around all night, but we didn't catch a thing either night. In fact, we didn't see anyone catch anything! So I don't know what's going on except that the water temp. is really hot! I'm going Tarpon fishing tomorrow in a friend's boat Sunday am. He's been doing really well, so we'll see what happens!

This want for big sharks. This was more for people going to Florida on vacation who want to catch smaller sharks and red fish. I have other videos using 1000lb cable and big ol hooks and my tuna rod lol. But we yak those 500 yards out to the reefs in Pensacola

We had some family emergencies that landed us back in Indiana for the foreseeable future… I’ll be doing some ice fishing stuff this year and see how people get into it but in fortunately we will only be doing Florida for vacations

Cause I ain’t yaking 900 yards for a shark lol y’all have flat beaches get that bait to a real drop off to have more luck. It’s not as easy as catch a fishing in Florida. There were weeks I went without catching fish on the beach. Gotta get out learn the waters and fish where the fish will be not just cast out and catch lol

I did that in Pensacola I fell on the rocks tho… luckily I didn’t go in between the rocks

Ah man hold out for few more months. We are moving back to Indiana and I will be doing muskie, smallie and large mouth fishing mainly. I plan to be back just have some personal things going on here that keep me from the tube.

Yeah for the simple fact I wasn’t doing it correctly. The way I was hooking the bait didn’t allow the hook to do its job. So I had to set the hook to get the fish to even get hooked and that’s where I was running into gut hooking. Unfortunately it was my bad but Iv learned and don’t do that anymore.

I have since learned that. Grew up muskie fishing with trouble hooks and no one taught me that about circle. I just had seen others use circle for this kinda fishing and learned as I went. I don’t Sink the hook that far into the bait and setting the hook on a circle Iv hear 50/50 on doing it or not but since fixing the way I hook my bait I no longer need to set it with circle. I figured out having the hook that deep in the bait doesn’t allow the circle hook to do it’s job so I was missing fish and then setting it like so was increasing my hook up ratio lol but now Iv learned my lesson and do it properly

@@littlebucketfishing3939 Yes sir. If the bait is hooked properly, the chances of a hookup increase dramatically. Ideally, you want the bait to pull free from the hook so the hook can work its way to the corner of the mouth. Have a great day!

Honestly have no idea. I went down there once and had a blast on the little fish was told you can catch snook and little grouper year round there and red fish

Best time during the day is when the tide is beginning to either head out or in. Between those times, you can just head to the local bar or pub and chill.

That’s what I heard. First time there and the places people told me to fish I didn’t find anything other than small bourse shew crabs lol so I went exploring and found the trout n spanish

If you wanna catch sharks and don’t care the size I’d go with a 6000 or 8000 size reel 10’ rod. Run 80 lb braid and then top shot of 100 lb mono to 200 lb single strand or braided wire with a 13/0 circle hook. That’s what Iv been running on my casting rigs

Imo it depends on what 6000 size reel you’re using. You’re not gonna have like any line on that spool if you use 50 pound mono on a 6000 unless you’re going with a daiwa bg or something. I would recommend either a daiwa bg in 6500 or a penn in 8500 with 65 pound braid then use an 80 pound mono leader down to steel. I have used all the way down to 40 pound braid and still haven’t had any issues tho.

Back them I was using $15 diawa yellow rod and a shimanno ultegra 14,000. Now I don’t cast 130 braid but I have a custom long cast rod with a squall 15 tdl on it I’ll be using for casting shark rigs with 80 lb braid and 300 lb single strand leader

Stay on the land with casting rigs. This is an old video I now have gear better equipped to cast from shore for sharks but this was a video on how to do it cheaply. We do use the 80w and kayak baits out here to I have 2 videos of that if you wanna check em out just click on my profile and look at all my videos there are 2 videos kayaking baits not really an explanation video but still good fun in them

Oh haha just had to make sure lol a lot of people where hating on this video cause I didn’t catch a snook haha oh well but yeah it’s a great spot from what I found I spend 3 days near Tampa and this was the only place I even say life in the water lol

@@littlebucketfishing3939 The Snook are on the intercostal, hanging under the docks. From where you were fishing in this video, you would get back on Gulf Blvd and head north or south, only trouble is finding a place to fish without going through someone's backyard. Here's a secret though. There's a nice spot behind Treasure Island Police station, small dock, maybe 8 slips. LOADED with Snook.

The plan is to make videos again! This was made for the wedding part that’s why there wasn’t in intro or outro on it, but this last weekend we caught 6 sharks had like 18 runs and I couldn’t find my GoPro and phone was full on pictures and videos lol

Mono in this was 100 lb biggest rig I make now has 900 lb mono and 900 lb cable lol but that’s for the gulf side

Plan was to fish smaller bait, nearer shore looking for smaller shark with my heaviest rig. The other poles will be set for smaller fish.

What part of Alabama? I may be able to send you to a specific bait shop if your stayin in orange beach. But any bait shop carries mullet! And most bigger shops carry Bonita. Some even have shark leaders set up and if your in orange beach I know a good beach guide who can put you on sharks and reds

I'll be staying at gulf state park. I dont want to fish with crowds at the pier though. I'd like to use a guide but funds are very limited.

Glad to help and this time of year I would fish the gulf side. You can fish both gulf and bay but I prefer the gulf

I had a live pin fish out the entire time I was fishing and it never got hit I had 3 left in the bait bucket in the car, I was only getting hit on the spoon so I stuck with what was catching and let the pen fish go this time around
