Lumopal 40 Watt vs 60 Watt Portable Solar Panel
Thought I'd test Lumopal portable solar panels to see which would be the best "bang for the buck". Looks like for the money the 40 watt would be a bit better deal but if you wanted/needed an extra 6 or 8 watts then go with the 60 watt. Thanks for watching. TN.Frank Out.

Eco Worthy 100 Watt Bifacial Solar Panel for the Win!
Просмотров 737Месяц назад
Eco-Worthy has come out with a Bifacial Solar Panel that gives more efficiency over traditional panels. I was able to get a full 14-15 more watts from this 100 watt panel than my standard Eco-Worthy 100 watt panel. This means if you're limited to the space you have you can get more watts out of that space with the same number of panels. I think this is a real game changer. Check them out and I'...

Part 2, The Battery Is Charged, Now What??
Просмотров 419Месяц назад
Well, in part 1 we got out battery charged and ready to go. So, now what do we do with it? You need an Inverter to convert the 12 Volts from the battery to 110v/120v A/C power so you can run stuff around the house like your TV, Refrigerator or other A/C Appliance. Get a Pure Sine Wave so you won't damage your sensitive electronics and size it to give you a bit more than you think you'll need to...

If you need to charge up a LiFePo4 battery it's easy if you've got a couple things. A good MPPT Charge Controller is a must and 100w solar panel will get the job done. Add more panel and you can charge more. Anyway, just a quick video to show how to charge up your batteries. Talk to ya'll later. TN.Frank Out.

No sun, no problem if you've got a fully charged LiFePo4 battery handy. Use it as is for smaller systems or add a 12v to 24v boost converter for systems that can handle the extra voltage.

A good alternative to the UV-5R is the UV-82 which has some upgraded features and IMHO a better speaker. CHIRP Legacy Compatible and unlocked(at least mine was) out of the box you can go from HAM to GMRS/MURS without any trouble. If you're looking for an inexpensive GMRS/MURS radio that won't break the bank the UV-82 deserves a look. Thanks for watching. TN.Frank Out.

Your video was not easy to come by, but a very welcome find. I'm going to burden your comment section with a comment I dropped on another video: It's November 9, 2024. You're a great shot man. In an effort to cull the number of OWB 9mm pistols, I shot four of them side by side most of this afternoon. I usually take two at a time side by side, keep one and sell the other. Today I took out the Glock 4rth gen G17, Beretta APX, Beretta PX4, and my underdog Ruger 9E. The PX4 is new to me and first time out. Unfortunately it has light primer strikes on single action, although it fires from double action first shot; it had to drop out. The G17 has barely beat out some great contenders over the years (in my hands) including the Beretta 92, Canik TP9SFX, 3rd gen G19 w/finger grooves, FN 509, Taurus 24/7 pro, CZ 75 and a clone. Problem is, the G17 grip and grip angle are not ideal for my large palm with medium fingers; the 1911 45 with flat backstrap is. The Beretta APX was a better fit, had a better trigger by a hair, and shot better groups by 1/8" on average. The G17 with its 19* angle and arched backstrap has always shot a little high (under pressure when running fast) for me as I can't seem to forget muscle memory from my 17* flat backstrap 1911s from the 80's. Today was the last straw/draw when I was shooting the three guns as fast as I could at 5 to 7yds point shooting without sights; simulating extreme pressure/emergency situation. The G17 was off the (8.5 x 11) paper half the shots, the APX and 9E were on the paper. The surprise was the 9E, which I believed was inferior to my beloved SR9c. The SR9c had scandalously edged out my 3rd gen grooved G19 well over a decade ago. But here was the 9E (E for Essentials) fitting and shooting more like my 1911s of old. The (one of a kind?) trigger on my 9E just happens to be on par with the lighter aftermarket trigger on my APX, which is just a hair better than the lighter aftermarket trigger on my G17. The 9E accuracy was on par +/- 1/8" better or worse than the APX and G17! The 9E cost me 2/3 the price of the APX, and less than half the G17! I expect that very few will read this, and fewer make it to the end, but it provided a cathartic release as I retire the full size OWB service pistol Champion for close to three decades in my collection, which I will regretfully be retiring this coming week. The 9E is better than the sum of its parts, universally underrated and unappreciated, but is now comfortably tucked in my second bedroom nightstand, and will remain in my rotation for the foreseeable future.
We must be neighbors. I came here searching how to manually input KGYR tower and ground. I'm over in goodyear

Besides the watts and flashlight/GPS, what are the available TX frequency differences between the new BF F8HP PRO and the BF AR-5RM? Both are UNLOCKED HAM radios and seem to TX on the exact same frequencies. Please advise. I am hoping to pull the trigger and buy one this before Thanksgiving. Would the TD H3 be a better option to have as far as the number of frequencies that can be accessed to transmit?
@@frankswaim There's a lot of info on Amazon but best I can tell you get RX Only FM Broadcast, AM Airband and 350-390Mhz. RX and TX 136-174Mhz, 220-260Mhz and 400-520Mhz. The main thing the BF has is the GPS. I don't need that so I'm willing to spend the extra money for it. My main TX is GMRS and MURS. I do like having NOAA pre-programed.
Just ordered a pair of the Baofeng AR-5RM radios with long antenna on Amazon for $62. 😃
You may need to go into your settings within the program and extend the window under 118.500 so that it knows it can accept it. Just a guess.

I haven't dip my toe into the solar Waters yet, because I'm only getting just over 900 bucks a month total income, and I've got bills to get done with first. But hopefully in January I can finally afford to buy that 40 watt unit I think and then perhaps the next month by a small test power unit like you were using in this blog and about which I am still really ignorant. Thank you again for your time and your work. Cheers from the Oil Patch in Central Wyoming
@@jrbailey3208 The Lumopal 300w unit goes for around $150 and you can catch it on sale for $120 or so. Keep an eye out for Black Friday deals on Amazon and they might have a bundle with the power station and panel for a decent price.
I see lots of questions about programming the AR-5RM with CHIRP. I've been using CHIRP next v.20240606 (June 6, 2024 release) with Mac OS and Windows 11 set to 5RM using an authentic FTDI cable. Absolutely no issues. The cheap counterfeit cloned cables on eBay and Amazon, usually about $8, will cause endless problems. If you don't have an authentic FTDI cable, spend $25 and get one!

Great review sir I know nothing about this but in light of what happened in the east coast With loss of cell signal and no communication is this a good first fit for a persons SHTF bag scenario? I am completely ignorant to any of this I just an old carpenter who likes to be somewhat prepared so any information is helpful thank you sir
It's what I decided on. Not only can you communicate with people in your immediate area, you can program them to use repeaters which sometimes can give you a lot of reach. There's a GMRS repeater about 30 miles from me that I can acces from my house, meaning I can communicate with people up to about 50 miles away. That's a little unusual, but sometimes the stars align properly. I recommend you get a GMRS license. It's $35, covers your whole family, is good for 10 years, and doesn't require a test. That way, you can get some experience using the radio and practicing with GMRS repeaters. The owners of the GMRS repeaters may get a bit testy if you use their repeater without a license. GMRS repeaters aren't very common in my area, but HAM repeaters are more powerful and they blanket the whole state I don't have a HAM license and HAMs definitely get grumpy if you use their repeater without a license, but I have some programmed in because in the event of a legitimate emergency, FCC rules specifically state that you can transmit on almost any frequency without a license. Because I've been playing with GMRS repeaters, I'm confident that if SHTF, I can access HAM repeaters without fumbling around trying to figure it out. Also, when you have a couple of them, you'll be surprised how often you find them handy for everyday things like outdoor activities with family and friends. So...long reply, but the bottom line is yes, this is a good choice for that scenario. It does take some practice, though, but it's not particularly difficult.
