    I am coming right along. I am beginning to work on The Beer Barrel Polka. I have the music. My only problem with playing the accordion is that I can't find accordion music for the bass and chord button notes. I am really "winging It" by ear for the left side. . How do I take and ordinary piece of music and do the left side ?? asks Judy Corrette I can do the piano side, okay.

    This was very helpful, thank you! When planning to buy an accordion, should I consider the climate I live in? You mentioned about the acoustic accordion being more sensitive to heat, and I'm worried that in the summer temperatures could be high enough to affect my accordion. Is it very common for the wax to melt, or should I not let it affect my decision?

    • @BreezyBellows
      @BreezyBellows 9 дней назад

      Hello Maja, the acoustic accordions have wax in them. You should be good as long as the temperature is under 60 degrees C or 140 fahrenheit. This usually happens when you leave the accordion in your car on days that are hot. The temperature in the car can easily get you 50-75% hotter than outside temperature.

    • @BreezyBellows
      @BreezyBellows 12 дней назад

      Do you already play piano/keyboard? Do you plan on playing piano/keyboard instruments? If yes, starting in a piano accordion will be beneficial wrt playing the other keyboard based instruments. Starting on button accordions has a lot of benefits. Compact instrument, modular design which leads to faster learning. Depending on where you live, it might be harder for you to find a good selection of button accordion instruments. Save for teachers who teach CBA.

      @@BreezyBellows By watching your video you brought topic I was discussing for a decades with other accordion players. I see you using 3/2 bass fingering (at least from time to time), which for in 95% of cases is a sign of self taught player. Any serious German, French, Belgian, Italian or Russian accordion method book uses the 4/3 Stradella bass fingering. I don't know of any musical school, college or conservatory, who would teach accordion using 3/2 fingering. But then again, if it works - it works. Which one do you use more, interesting to know. Keep up the good playing and videos. Subscribed!

    • @BreezyBellows
      @BreezyBellows 13 дней назад

      That's an interesting topic. You left out USA 🙂. In USA 3/2 fingering is more common than 4/3. Most teachers from here teach 3/2 method. You are correct that the conservatories in Europe teach 4/3 fingering. But I've seen European and Russian conservatory educated players (from the previous generations) use 3/2. When I asked around, I was told that 3/2 is the old school method. 4/3 is the modern method. Conservatories around the world have switched to 4/3. Conservatories in the US didn't teach accordion anymore. So the older 3/2 fingering is more prevalent. The Palmer Hughes accordion course makes a passing reference to 4/3 fingering. It is mentioned that both methods are valid. But it defaults to 3/2 fingering throughout the book.

    Completely right! One „issue“ is caused by the accordion manufacturer themselves; They normally fit smaller accordions with shorter straps, with the intension to sell them to the younger players.(or „catch“ the young players?) For an adult, the smaller accordion is never to small, but the straps are to short. Those would even have to be longer as on the full-size instrument!

    • @BreezyBellows
      @BreezyBellows Месяц назад

      I've faced issues with straps even for full size accordions. Even in the longest setting, the right strap wasn't long enough. So I had to request a longer replacement for the bottom half of the right strap

    • @404rimless9
      @404rimless9 Месяц назад

      @@BreezyBellows Me too. On my current fullsize i had to lengthen the right strap. Just a month ago i bought a new set from an italian manufacturer. The length was sufficient. Imagine, i would have kept my midsize accordion ( 72 Basses, i had in the youth) i would have to replace the straps with minimum the length for a fullsize. The problem had not been the size of the accordion, as i then thought, but the far to short straps.
