    Great video! I’m in the process of taking off all the old paint myself right down to the gel coat. I’m scraping instead of sandblasting because for some reason I like to put in as much work as possible on my boat 😂 question for you though! It looked like there were painted x’s around the hull before you put the first green coat on after the primer, was that for any specific purpose or just goofing around? Thanks for all the great info!

    • @yachtworks370
      @yachtworks370 24 дня назад

      Haha … thanks for the great funny comment … scraping is so much fun ! And then the sanding ! Oh the joys … but the harder you work the better the payoff when it’s all done! 😬… to answer your question , the X’s were us marking where the first coat of primer was a little thinner and marked where to add a little extra on the next coat. Although, goofing around is still high on the priority list 😄 … it’s a necessary to stay sane sometimes. Best of luck to you ! Keep your eye on the goal! Thanks again !

    • @yachtworks370

      Hey Lee, anywhere from 1500-2000 will be fine for polishing, whatever you’re comfortable with…. waxing doesn’t have to be that fast and can even be done by hand , just let the wax sit for a 5-10 mins before wiping off (not in the sun , don’t let wax dry) Best of luck to you !

    How is your work process? 1. Pick a square like in the video, rub, polish and wax and the take the next square? 2. Rub the whole boat, in squares, Then do the same with polish and wax? 3. skip the squares and just work your way around the boat one step at a time?

      @yachtworks370 Месяц назад

      Good questions… I buff the whole boat first (also helps to keep your buffing pad from drying up too fast) , then I polish and wax back to back section by section. Don’t need to tape. That was just for demonstration. Unless it helps you. Good Luck !

    • @yachtworks370

      I wear a simple mask if products are dusty and I wear a good respirator when using toxic products like bottom paint for example that give off harmful fumes. I personally don’t think it’s necessary for polishing but can’t hurt. I have a bit of asthma myself. Side tip: I found the Wim Hof Breathing technique a few years ago and it helps me with that as well as many other benefits. Search for “Guided Wim Hof Method Breathing” and give it a try when you are laying down in a high oxygen low toxic environment, I.e. at the park near trees, or just near an open window with trees outside. … here’s a good Respirator mask : amzn.to/3UrBhrm Good simple masks : amzn.to/3SJS8nP

      @yachtworks370 what they are trying to say is that using silica (actual SAND) is extremely bad. Because the silica (sand) is blasted into particles that are so small they can stay in the air for hours. If there is a breeze they will carry on the wind. And they are extremely damaging to lungs. I think a lot if people say "sand blasting" when they mean other mediums - like slag, walnut shells, or glass beads (which somewgat surprisingly doesn't cause the same problems as sand). But you definitely should not use sand in "sand blasting".
