Slip Rope

Make certain you practice this BEFORE you drop out of a tall tree! The rope can be immovable or " stuck" if it is a new rope so you will have to play with it to find the right amount of wraps to use. If you break something on the first try then you'll know what I mean.

Outstanding demonstration my friend…👍🏻 Thanks for sharing and Stay Strong 💪🏻…‼️
Thanks Warrior. I dont like the lighting at the beginning but then the clouds went away and it brightened up some.
interesting and great video - glad I watched
It was my 3rd take. Bad lighting.
Watch out for the feral people.
I married one!!
Nice!
Thank you JH.
Could you please show how you make the hanging hunters hut? Im very curious to try this, thank you in advance
Thank you for your enquiry ! Here's the rub, in Africa they use bamboo which is very light weight but extremely strong. Here in North America the wood is very weak {compared to bamboo} but extremely heavy {again, compared to bamboo}. So, the problem I have run into is not finding a cable, rope, twine system that is strong enough to lift up the wood that I can find here in the USA. In the Cong they use rope and twin that can hoist bamboo which is strong enough to hold them up in the trees. I tried to use PVC pipe but it was too heavy for the cheap rope I did find. it snap and my fat ass agreed with gravity. So..... what I did find is mature cane reeds but not enough of them to make a hanging hut. I am going back to that location soon to pick up a bunch more and if I acquire enough of it I will do a vid on the " Ngala Hunters Hut". Ill explain to you how it's done. really simple!!!! They tie rope around a tree trunk from the top down and tie it onto the four bamboo poles. Think of it as a four square box figure around a pole. The weight of the platform pulling down keeps the rope tight around the tree trunk. Keep in mind that those trees can be 130 feet high and the platforms are anywhere from 20 to 50 feet in the air surrounding the tree trunk. When you see one in the Congo it looks like a pile of garbage that was left from a very high ranging flood that deposited a bunch of trash in the trees but it's not. Those people use all kinds of trash, plastic and whatever in their construction of these huts. Did this help??? Please let me know.
Very cool, ill look into it more. I was thinking about tying what people call 'tree nets' in the forest to hunt from and to sleep in. However those are quite permenant, leaving rope in the forest which is neither enviromentally friendly nor cost effective.@@CamplifeBushcraft999
I don’t remember this episode of th Red Green Show
I dont remember the "Red Green Show". What is it??
@@CamplifeBushcraft999 it was a fun Canadian tv show from the early 2000s. Kinda a “mens” show about duct tape and such. Search for it on RUclips you might enjoy it.
I found it. Didnt think Canadians had such a developed sense of humor.
@@CamplifeBushcraft999 Canadians make some of the best shows. Letterkenny is fantastic if you haven’t already heard of it.

Thanks for watching

I didn’t think much of it until it was thrown and it penetrated the eucalypt.
Poor advertising but a good product anyway.
Now that looks like a nice spot to drop in a line and pull out some trout. Your videos are very interesting Doyle keep them coming.
Yes it was.
He was a prior Green Beret who wrote several interesting books you should look him up…👍🏻 I think you would like them….
Thanks, will do.
"Get outside guys!" Love it.
Go see the world!
And what was also a plus with the C rations or K rations was you could use the cans to make a stove…. The downside was of course the weight…
MRE's much lighter
Would you believe while in Korea we traded MRE’s for Ramon noodles and moon pies…
@@AlpineWarrior550 In Kentucky moon pies are both a meat and vegetable. Yes I do believe it!
This topic is very interesting because of the way that these things are constantly changing…. Having said that, one should have various ways to navigate. Along with knowledge and practiced skills……. This is why your videos are very interesting and useful…..‼️👍🏻
Thank you much Warrior.

Yes!
Excellent info. Can you show your tying technique.??
I'm doing another one this week with step by step instruction and NO shakiness. Thank you USer-PK
Question/ have you ever had a LRRP ration when you were in the military…?
Yes, they werent bad. Now they have a better one that you can actually taste.
@@CamplifeBushcraft999 Yes, they have come a long way with them…👍🏻 Always thought the K Rations tasted better though…
I loved the C ratts. A million ways to cook em.

Thank you too
Outstanding video my friend… Your sense of humor is priceless too…LOL….. Interesting that you mention water moccasins, When I was tasked with being the Scout Swimmer in Okinawa we had to watch out for Habu snakes 🐍…‼️

Thank you sir!
I know a guy who decided to hike across Iceland from Akureryi to Hofn. When he got to the interior, which is barren wasteland, he found out his compass was not helping him find the spots that he had picked to get water. Apparently, when there is a lava flow 'the magnetism of iron-rich minerals in molten lava orients along the prevailing field, then becomes locked into place as the lava cools and hardens.' (science daily 9-26-2008). Considering Iceland is being formed by lava flows as the tectonic plates there pull apart, there are many layers of lava flows with different magnetic fields. He barely made it across and came out severely dehydrated.
Thank you for this insight!
Old topographical maps used to have a small marker on the side that you put your compass on and a calculation to find true north or magnetic north according to the year post printing of the chart. It was not static. I've forgotten all that information, so now, thanks to this video I will have to go scratch out a map and see if I can still work it out.
It's called a declination diagram
The US Army maps still have the declination but they're changing them yearly due to the travelling magnetic north. I heard an astronomer say that all the planets in our solar system are experiencing the same phenomena. Thank you.
@@Nashvillain10SE thanks, I haven't done mapwork since the mid 1980s.
We're also currently experiencing a magnetic pole shift.
Correct Stevean. The magnetic pole shift started around 1982 now it's in full swing.
A magnetic pole shift takes thousands of years to complete. And you could say that Earth is constantly experiencing a magnetic pole shift, depending on what you mean by that.
@@Tjalve70 I'll leave that conclusion to the experts which I am not. suspicious0bservers and maverickstarreloaded have compiled volumes on this topic.
and this is why we have gps
True. GPS is updated by the minute. Thank you.
So it's true, earths magnetic pole is shifting. When I used to backpack in the 80's in California, the magnetic north pole was 14 degrees from true north on my maps. Now you say it's 11 degrees difference in California.
You can easily do it yourself. Please let me know what you find. 11.9 degrees in Southern Ca toward Arizona.
@@CamplifeBushcraft999 Sequoia National Park 14° in the 80's. +12.07° now.
That seems to be correct with the distance involved. I would like to know the contact info for the US Navy atomic clock in Colorado. They 've been tracking this stuff since the 50's.
Did you use the NGEO website?
This is the NOAA Website. They have a serious interest in knowing exactly what the declination is. www.ngdc.noaa.gov/geomag/calculators/mobileDeclination.shtml
I always thought that the north star was not true north and that the north star was moving. Isn't there a better way to locate true north?
It's actually the earth that wobbles, not the north star.
You can easily do it yourself. Let me know what declination you find.
@@chrisruthford4492 yes, i realize that. my point being that I believe that the star is not true north.
@@zafnor Polaris is exactly true north it varies less than a degree. Magnetic north is almost 12° from Polaris.
Excellent video Doyle. Superb technique to get the point across quickly.
Many thanks!
Absolutely 👍🏻
There is a recent development in this topic.
Awesome job my friend……. FYI THE GM angle is different in a lot of areas…
It's 30 degrees off in some places and getting wider. Mag north is now close to Russia.
@@CamplifeBushcraft999 And it changes...... Many feel we are due for a magnetic pole shift..... It Happens every 6000 years or so........
Please check out Maverickstarreloaded and Suspicious0bservers channels on youtube. Both channels have compiled a HUGE volume of facts on the pole shift/ excursion. If we only experience a slip then we may survives this thing but who knows.

very good to know. Lots of people get lost in CA and other places out west and many do not make it without water.
Planning is everything.
How much weight, volume and length - your old rope vs the Dyneema rope?
The rope is 12 strand, 8mm diameter with a 900kg weight limit. Am I reading this correctly??? My old rope is going in the trash or I'll use it for tying up the chicken coop. It breaks with just a little weight.
Great intersting set up! Can't wait for more videos!
Thank you sir, I'm filming now.
the information is great in the video, but I feel bad for your back when you are swinging those tools. Instead of putting both hands at the base of the tool and then lifting and wielding it over your head, put one hand at the head of the tool and lift it over your head that way. Then as you start to come down with the tool onto the piece of wood, slide your hand down the tool handle until your hands connect.
Thank you for the advice but there's a reason I swing it that way. You do notice that in my videos I wear a long sleeve shirt? My upper left arm is mangled and thats all I'll say about it.
@@CamplifeBushcraft999 Im sorry to hear. that. Didnt mean any offense, just wanted to help. Thanks for the video:)
You didnt offend me, I receive a bunch of remarks about it. They're just curious because it is a add way go swinging an ax. My upper left bicep was detached from the she shoulder in a parachuting accident back in the Army. Did other damage too. Damn near killed me.
