Striking the Mother Lode of Chill Tahoe Flow | MTB Ride Tahoe Donner in Truckee, CA
Decided to check out a trail system I’d never heard anything about but is attached to one of my favorite parts of Truckee / Tahoe with the Tahoe Donner neighborhood trail system. There were tons more trails here but I stuck with Mother Lode and Hidden Gem. The former is divided into 3 parts, upper, middle, and lower, with some nice (but pedal heavy) flow with some decent berms and occasional options feature. Hidden Gem was similar but I enjoyed it just a touch more. This seems to be a great place for those new to riding or looking for some easy, chill flow. Also looked like there was a jump line and some new trails being worked on, so definitely worth exploring what else is out, I know I ...

Bobbing and Weaving Through San Diegos Tunnel Trails | MTB Ride at Los Penasquitos Canyon
Просмотров 43821 день назад
The Tunnel Trails in San Diego's Los Penasquitos Canyon are a pretty mellow trail system, but great for a fun after-work lap or for a beginner looking to improve their skills. These trails are narrow and wrap between (and below) the surrounding trees, so you'll want to watch your bars and your helmet - I've hit my head more than a few times. They're a pretty unique ride with some fun flow, whic...
These Rock Gardens are Relentless | MTB Ride at Noble Canyon Trail in Southern California
Просмотров 36728 дней назад
The Noble Canyon Trail is a Southern California classic, with a tough 2000 foot climb followed by a long, technical downhill with relentless rock gardens and chunk that will challenge any intermediate rider. By the end, your arms will hurt more than your legs from holding on for dear life over the never ending rock sections. Absolutely worth checking out if you’re in the area and quite common t...
Unbelievable Views on this Slickrock Journey at Gooseberry Mesa | MTB in Hurricane, Utah
Просмотров 172Месяц назад
Gooseberry Mesa outside of Hurricane, Utah is yet another incredible MTB destination, and for good reason. The dizzying views off the massive cliffs are possibly the best of any trail I've ridden. If you've never ridden on slickrock, it's quite the experience, with the trails generally being very technical, constant up and downs over beautiful, unique rock formations that grip your tires like v...
A Moose is On the Loose in Beacon Hill!!! | MTB Ride in Spokane, WA
Просмотров 225Месяц назад
Beacon Hill in Spokane, WA blew me away. It felt amazing to finally ride some chunky tech after hitting all the flowy jump lines in the PNW, but there's still plenty of flow and jumps here, too. I was also lucky enough to come across a moose about 5 feet off the trail! We definitely scared each other but it just continued on eating the branches after a minute or so. I talked to a few locals who...
Daydreaming of Quitting My Job to Ride Unemployment Line Everyday | MTB Galbraith in Bellingham, WA
Просмотров 9822 месяца назад
Unemployment Line is one of Trailforks most popular trails on the West Coast (and maybe the entire US) for a reason. More PWN perfection here, incredible flow, some cool wooden features and lots and lots of jumps. I actually like Evolution the best, the wooden features are my bread and butter. Stoked to finally have gotten to ride this bucket list trail. #mtb #mountainbike #bellingham 00:00 Hig...

Post Canyon outside of Hood River, OR on the Columbia River Gorge was an incredible trail system with amazing progressive flow and jump trails that are easy to lap and lots more trails being built, I only scratched the surface in this video. 2 of the most popular trails were even closed for maintenance but it made no difference, definitely recommend checking this place out if you're in the area...

Used to ride there every Wednesday night with the slackers.
Nice!! I'll be coming back soon, gotta hit some of the harder stuff
Hulda Crooks Trail, my backyard
Lucky, it's like a 2 hour drive for me. Would love to hit this place every week
Do you have some sort of silent hub? Nice video.
Thank you! And no I don't actually, I use a wind cover on the go pro so it probably muffles the hub noise but I also don't have a particularly noisy hub either.
Soooo much pedaling! I swear my friend got lost. How much elevation/ miles dod you clock, please
It was a LOT, but definitely worth it. Just took a look at my Strava, it was 2,127 ft of elevation and 16.51 miles!
@@HobbyGoblinTyler yeah, mine says 2737ft 14.3 miles. We got lost for sure.
That’s a huge day, I don’t think I’ve ever done more than 2500 vert.
@HobbyGoblinTyler most over ever done by about 1000ft. For 2700+ ft ot was still barely worth it. If I could learn the area better I think I can put in the same vert but also get braile in there, that'd be SICK!!!!. If you go again, get the way out 🙏
Is access to these trails free or is there a pass youneed to purchase?
Yes these are totally free and open for anybody to use, plenty of parking as well
I rode there many years ago and remember having a blast. I would suggest Marshall Canyon in La Verne which is sort nearby...that was my main riding area back in the day
Yes Marshall Canyon is great! I’ve ridden and hiked there a few times, it’s really beautiful going up through the creek area
Any chance you have a Strava link?
Yep, here you go! www.strava.com/activities/10566088297
gopro makes those features look so small! to me they are too scary 😅
Hahah GoPro makes everything look easy, it’s crazy! I’ve seen way too many videos that I thought I’d be fine on the features and when I actually showed up they are MUCH more intimidating in person.
One of my fav loops out there
Such a beautiful and unique ride, I absolutely loved it.
RIPPIN IT!! thats dope! greer is fun af
Thanks! Greer is awesome and there’s so much I haven’t ridden yet either, every time I go I seem to find something new.
Nice vids. Our fav Tuesday rides through PQ. Tunnel 7 is actually "Rocking Horse" or "Tunnel 3"
Thanks so much! Yeah I love PQ. And ah thanks, yeah as soon as I posted this I saw on Trailforks that Tunnel 7 is the one over by The Shire. Thanks for clarifying, I’ve wondered why Tunnel 3 isn’t on Trailforks.
Nice trails. How can we get there? Is there a parking ?
Yeah, there’s a few places to park depending on what you want to ride! In this video I parked at the baseball fields off of McCarran and Virginia, lots of parking there. If you wanta skip the bottom section there’s more parking up near the dirt roads on Peavine!
I've only shuttled that down and was exhausted, can't imagine what it was like making the climb first. Nice work!
Thanks! Yeah I’m always fully tapped out on the end of this one, especially for that final chunky section 😅
Great video bro💪🏼🤙🏼
Thanks I appreciate it!!! ✌🏼
I really like that you include the peddle portion to the trails. Makes for better expectations for the trails.
Yeah I think it makes it a bit more realistic, sometimes the climb is the most beautiful part of the ride too so I try to show if there's interesting parts!
Hell ya, awesome trails! Good riding!
Thanks, I appreciate it! These trails were super cool and lots more to explore. I always love a mix of rocks and flow.
Nice trails, I'm from santa cruz, Ca. I would be interested in taking a trip south and try out these trails!.
You definitely should, there some really cool stuff down here, a pretty good mix in So Cal so you can ride a good variety. I'm heading up north in the next month or so, any thing around Santa Cruz or the bay that you'd recommend? I've ridden the Flow Trail, Endor Flow and Skeggs and loved them all but would love to try something new!
@HobbyGoblinTyler Toro park in salinas, Ca is a good place to ride got some good trails. Pipeline an marks canyon are good ones check out some RUclips videos on these trails. Also fort ord got some good mix of trails.
Awesome thanks! I’ve had pipeline on my list for a while, I’ll have to check it out!
Ive been in San Diego my whole life and have never ridden black mtn, I def need to head there one of these days! Looks so chunky and I'd prob have to push a lot of it, but looks fun too.
Oh yeah it's an SD classic to me! It's pretty techy for sure, the climbs can be a bit frustrating but the way down is definitely worth it if you like that type of riding.
These are the trails I wish San Diego had more of! I gotta make my way up to these, rad video!!
Definitely go check these out, this place was kinda similar to Sycamore Canyon in Riverside as well, 2 really nice flowy trail systems, but this place has more jumps and such
Cool video the force is actually called Dead End trail that's why there's a dead end sign there... 🤙
Thanks that makes sense! I generally just go off of Trailforks but it's definitely not always accurate to what the locals call the trails haha.
@@HobbyGoblinTyler 🤙🤙🤙
Glad you enjoyed Duthie (yes it is dooth-ee) I was out there today as were plenty of other folks!
Yeah I'm sure this place gets pretty busy, I would be there all the time if I lived in the area. That place is a gem.
Trail looks fun.
Really cool trail system, I'm going to have to visit again soon.
That trail looks a bit brutal honestly, but I bet nothing feels better than a clean run through it top to bottom. BTW, are you wearing old school Vans slip-ons?
Yeah I'm still trying to get better with holding speed and cleaning jumps, I'm sure the trails get even better with more skill than I have. And they're not slip-ons but they're the old school Vans, yep. I've looked around at some MTB specific shoes but honestly I've ridden the Vans on some nasty trails and I don't think they're holding me back.
@@HobbyGoblinTyler No shame in that at all. I tend to keep my wheels close to the ground but starting to get into a bit of air time the more I ride. Used to have no fear but the older I get the more the cost of making a mistake weighs on me.
Yeah agreed, I would rather ride more and keep it mellow than go crazy and get hurt and not get to ride at all.
Probably my least favorite trail on Galby lol. Lots of folks like it tho!
Yeah honestly Evolution was my favorite, loved those wooden features. And then Atomic Dog was awesome too because it was a bit more natural and the natural features are what make places unique, like the wallride that I completely goofed on.
its a pretty sad trail. could be so much better. i vote that we should have the shire crew rebuild it.
Yes I’ll follow u on Strava 🙏🏼
Here's my Strava from that ride! www.strava.com/activities/10385759699
There are mountain lions in that area. Are you riding by yourself?
Yeah I’m generally a solo rider. I think there’s mountain lions in 90% of the places I ride. I just see it as part of the risk, just like surfing and sharks.
Camera u using
This is a GoPro 10 with the Max Lens
Would u happen to have Strava ?
Yes I do, I should probably start adding them to the video description. Did you want to see my Strava for this ride?
Yes if u would like to share it that would be cool
Nice to see you hit that gap jump near the finish!
Yeah it’s kind of the perfect little gap since it’s kind of a step down but it always scares me each time I hit it 😂
@@HobbyGoblinTyler biggest gap I've done is 7ft. took me a while to get up the sack for it.
That’s huge, nice job. Yeah kind of like with skiing / snowboarding, a lot of stuff will work out just fine it’s mostly getting the courage to try that’s difficult.
what bike are you on? its a full sus right? i really like the color
It's a 2020 Santa Cruz Bronson. I believe the color is Matte Olive. Full suspension. It's been an awesome bike!
have you tried any of the new stuff? im curious how it is.
i heard they are adding new things to it. Are they finished or still working ?
@@pttn2015 I don’t know. I haven’t been down there yet but I am planning to this summer
This was my first time here but I had read an article just a few days before that they just finished adding an additional jump line, that’s about all I knew was new though. Some stuff still covered with tarps and closed for the beginning of the season, not sure if any of that was new as well.
I really miss that place, now that we moved to California...
I mostly live in So Cal as well, this place blew me away. Will probably be doing more road frequent trips up to the PNW, there’s just too much good riding up there.
Helll yeah! This is dope
Haha you’re dope! 💙
Dude this is awesome
Awesome !!
You don't suck at jumping. Those bigger man-made jumps are a bit kickier and require more speed and pop (and commitment!). I just started clearing some of them last season. Now after 3 months off I have to work up to it again.
Thanks, yeah I’m still working up to the bigger ones. I think really the speed is what trips me up, I always do a brake check before hitting something.
@@HobbyGoblinTyler A quite normal reaction.
Great place to ride. This is the Sycamore side, on the other side of Alessandro is the Ammo dump side. Ride here three times a week generally. Glad you enjoyed. The exploring there is excellent.
Yes I meant to go check out the other side as well but I got lost haha. Will definitely check it out next time. What's your favorite trail in the area?
@@HobbyGoblinTyler I like trails on both sides, however the Sycamore Cyn side I prefer as I think it has more technical places and I like the bigger elevation changes. Also the trails on like strava or trail forks names as well as what people call them isn't always the same.
Yeah I’ve noticed that quite a bit, locals using different names from Trailforks or the trails not being on there. I travel to new trail systems a lot so I rely heavily on Trailforks
How long is the climb?
are you at the ark?
This is The Circuit gym in Bend, Oregon
oh ok
this happened to my '19 SJ (loose rear hub). Bearing was trashed = time for a new wheel. Curious which cassette you have on back, is it a SRAM NX by chance?
Yep that's exactly what happened, bike shop said it made more sense to just get a whole new wheel rather than do all the work to replace the hub! I have SRAM GX actually.
@@HobbyGoblinTyler Interesting. Mine was an NX which uses an HG hub. When it broke, I figured it was a good time to upgrade to a GX cassette which uses the XD hub body. I was hoping my new XD wheel will be a more reliable design, but sounds like that may not necessarily be the case. Oh well, fingers crossed. Have a good one
Nice video, are you riding hard tail?
Thanks! And nope, I'm on a full suspension Santa Cruz Bronson. I'm sure people ride this on a hardtail but with all these drops it would be pretty rough haha.
Grab the starter with the left as you did, then Grab the long one with your right hand and PUSH yourself up. Then, place your feet on the tiny rock and slowly get your body upright. Put your right leg on the long one and impulse yourself to reach the tiny rock above with your right hand. Maybe switch your feet with the left on the long one and the right foot on the rock to the right. And impulse yourself again so your right hand can reach the high rock up above. I don't pretend to rock climb or know the difficulty of this, but personally that's what I would do considering I'm 5'1. Albeit it would take me some time to get the technique down. You have to think outside the box.
Nice trail looks like rain did some damage all around so cal trails
Yeah plenty of ruts to look out for this spring!
fun looking trails
I can't wait to get back here and get lost again haha.
what a great spot shirley!
Nice catch 😂! But yeah this spot is awesome, great for a quick ride after work or getting someone out for their first ride or even progressing your own skills
Moving to Reno in a few months. Thanks for highlighting places to ride. This place looks fun.
No problem, have fun out there! Check out the trails on Peavine too, I have another video of those if you're interested. Much more climbing but they're definitely worth it. ruclips.net/video/8lVKNVko-XU/видео.html
Let me know if you need a tour guide. 🍻
I used to live in Reno… I miss it so much. Thanks for sharing. Next time I’m around I’ll have to check this place out.
Definitely check it out! People seem to always think of Tahoe around here for biking but it’s impressive some of the stuff Reno has. Makes me wish I started biking when I was growing up here!
The jumps being added on Smooth Criminal were not being built good, they were liped and would send you into a crash. We all like jumps, just not bad ones that literally make people crash...
That's totally fair, especially if riders aren't used to a jump being there on a trail that they know really well. Seems like it'd be hard to maintain good jumps with that kind of soil as well.
The spot with the sign was a good jump. Till someone kept making a lip on it. 😢
That's frustrating. At least the drop on that trail has the ride around. Optional features are generally the best of both worlds.
By the way, great video 👌
Thanks I really appreciate it! Hoping to get back soon and ride the rock feature on Peaches and explore some of the other trails out there.
Nice trail,you got a new sub,✌️
Thanks I appreciate it! Loved this trail, it’s pretty famous for a reason.
That looks fun!!!!!! Wish we had that here :)
Definitely lucky here in California to have such a huge variety of trails!
