My name is Jenia Daugherty. Welcome to the Stitch of Nature Channel.
I was born in 1976 in the Altai Region of Russia. Like many women do in Russia, I grew up around needle arts. By watching my Grandmother and Mother, I learned to knit and sew at the age of 10. I loved it! I knitted my first sweater when I was 12 - I even wore it to school that winter. As my skills developed, my entire family had knitted garments made from patterns from my favorite magazine "Burda Moden".
In my University years, I met a friend who showed me some basic crochet stitches. It was a great first step towards learning new skills and tricks through tutorials, crochet magazines, self-discovery and experimentation.
In 2006 I moved to the US where I now live with my husband and two young boys. I work from home and get inspired by the beauty of nature around, the ever-present diversity of life and all the simple things that I cherishes the most.

You didn’t mention what size of hat you’re making, all you talked about is the size of hook and yarn. Since the pictures shown on the screen is for older kids, after I followed your instructions for a while, I realized it’s a mistake.

Great question! I came here looking for an answer to this. My feeling is it's any even number plus 3 for the initial chain, since the pocket works 34 stitches.

I was assuming this pattern was for a child due to the pic. 😢 I got all the way through the increases and then you said it was for a newborn. You may have aid it in the beginning, but I know how to crochet so I forwarded the video head. Waste of time. Maybe put into the title that it's for a newborn. 🤷♀️
