I CAN'T FEEL MY FACE! | One Chip Challenge 2021
❤
Got a playstation for 20 bucks today going to go through it with your video!
Aye let's go!! Let me know how it goes!
Will light guns still work?
Of course! Not sure how well it works with an HDTV, but it will certainly work on a CRT.
@Magneteco great I've been tossing around the idea of buying an modding one. This helps me pull the trigger! Pun intended. Thank you and keep up the good work your videos are great quality's
@claynewhouse2523 If you have further questions let me know! Happy gaming, my friend.
Good video, just picked up a second Saturn this past weekend for $5 , I had did this without the aid of this video and it would have helped me some, your missing a clear plastic piece that is found underneath the power supply, most likely to keep it from contacting the metal RF shielding, mine was way more dirty, but it was fully functional to my surprise, even had a dis in that was really scratched up (Alien Trulogy) and that actually ran! Will be my “backup” Saturn now.
You got one for $5?! That's a steal. You know, my Saturn is infact missing the plastic piece that goes under the power supply! It hasn't caused any issues yet, but I will grab one off Ebay just to be safe. Good looking out!
@ it was actually a 3 console bundle/lot, a Genesis model2 and a Hyperkin Retron 2, I threw out the Retron once I put power to it, it didn’t function at all, all were very dirty and thought not to work, the two Sega consoles worked great! On the plastic piece/sheet it’s similar to the Dreamcasts psu on its design, if you have a hard time finding it I don’t think it would be terribly difficult to create your own, you can see the metal tabs built into that RF shielding that they slide into. Saving older consoles is becoming a hobby I don’t think I needed 😂
@willsxx1 I found one that would work fine. I started on just collecting one system for each generation so I can play games. Now, I'm collecting every version of a console such as slim lines etc. It's addicting!
Thanks for another wonderful check and clean video. You alway have very thorough directions for going through the system. Be blessed. My friend.
@@JoeHazlet Thank you once again for stopping by and watching the video. Hope you have a wonderful day!
Right from the start, your console is in exceptional condition. My console, which I bought as soon as it came out and which has never been exposed to the sun, is the most disgusting yellow possible.
@siem8160 Never exposed to the sun? Maybe do some retrobrighting on it. I've been messing around with that lately and got some good results. That's unfortunate that these consoles still yellow, because I like to keep mine away from the sun too.
@@Magneteco You're right, I'd have to try the retrobright technique on my Dreamcast. I wonder if it's not a high oxygen level in my house that's responsible for the yellowing. I've got over fifty plants and that must be contributing to the condition. I take care of technical maintenance, but I don't pay much attention to cosmetics, and the magnificent state of your console makes me want to give mine a new lease of life. The plastic of early GameCube models is also very poor. It breaks like glass. When I compare it to the Super Nintendo I bought when it first came out, the plastic is shadier, but not brittle. I've read that it's the flame-retardant composition that makes plastics more and more fragile. We should go back to good old Bakelite.
@siem8160 I bought a smoke black controller for the dreamcast and ran into the same issue you described with the GameCube. I wonder if there is a way to moisturize the plastic so it's not so brittle due to age. it's really upsetting when completing maintenance just to break the plastic when you're screwing everything back together.
@@Magneteco To dismantle a friend's GameCube without breaking it, I first heated the base where the screws are located with a hairdryer.
@@siem8160 I like it. 👍
Great video, keep it up! A note though, correct me if I'm wrong, is that using a paintbrush to clean dust can induce static electricity and cause damage if you're unlucky.
@DMDaskalakis Touching the power supply is always a risk. I can see this being a problem if you were working on a dinner table or on the carpet. A workbench and silicone mat to work on has never caused an issue. Again, there's always a risk.
Is there a converter that goes the opposite way
@@noahmeme2 There's certainly exists!
If you grew up with a Dreamcast, what were your favorite memories and games?
Update: I did everything you said to the tee. @magnetico. But for some reason my PC can’t seem to see my external SSD cause now I want to add more games. I thought ssd was damage but I did put it back to the ps2 and everything is there. My pc can’t seem to see it so I could put more games. Thoughts?
So I followed the whole setting up OPL portion to the specs you provided, and when i go to load a game, I get no Playstation logo and the game never loads. Just stays on a black screen. Any suggestions on what I may be doing wrong? HDD is set up the same as well so not sure what I'm missing here.
@@justinseyer4358 Can I ask what game you are trying to run? OPL is pretty compatible, but it does not play well with some of the more obscure games.
@@Magneteco to be honest, it does the same to every game I select, but to list a specific, I selected Blood Omen 2 as an example game
@@Magneteco another issue I found is that OPL will only boot up if it is located in the "boot" folder and not just in the "app" folder.
@justinseyer4358 Interesting. If the game list shows up on OPL, that means OPL settings are correct. Can you try opening OPL through uLaunchELF? make sure you are choosing the Grimdoomer version. It could be a routing problem on the main menu options. I'm curious if you built your card or bought one on Amazon.
@Magneteco I actually bought my card from Amazon or Aliexpress. I can't remember for sure which one, but it was definitely premade
So my Gamecube did not have this power supply portion..hmmm
The Gamecube I'm using is a DOL-001 (1:15) which is one of the orignal models that still have the digital out port. You likely have a DOL-101 which removed the digital out port and built the little power supply unit into the motherboard. Neat little redesign.
@@Magneteco I must have missed that, I’m like following along with my GameCube, cause it’s not reading Discs and I didn’t see that portion in mine so I was like did I lose something 🤣
@@meerkhat6123 I completely understand that!
Hope you can answer my question but at 6:23 when picking your option of SSD. Im running a 4tb HDD should i pick Local ps2 HDD? Or just stick with your first option Normal
Stick with normal. You're just letting the program know that you hooked up some type of device to your PC.
Hello magnetico. I have 3.02 dvd player and read the dvdboot compatibility and its not there. Is there any other work or way around it?
Unfortunately, not. If you have a PS2 Slim or know someone that does, you can create a FreeMcBoot memory card using the FreeDVDBoot "All PS2 Slims" iso. otherwise, you maybe have to buy a pre-made memory card from Amazon. Sorry my friend, I hate to give bad news.
@@Magneteco oh man ☹️ thanks for looking out.
Thank you man. Very informativ and easy explained. Really liked your video.❤️👍🏻
Glad you liked it!
Would you recommend a Wii memory card mod for the gameqube? I have a game boy player without the disk.
I'm not familiar with that mod, but I would do any mod you are comfortable with that allows you to boot Swiss. That's the important part. There are many ways to boot Swiss on the GameCube which will allow you to run homebrew, games, and the GameBoy Interface.
Its not the laser, try it to 150 ohms and if it still does not read the disc it needs a recap!
I did. Off camera I tuned the potentiometer to several levels and consulted forums on what to try. At the end of the day, you're not wrong. A simple recap would have likely solved the issue, but I also had no intention of keeping the laser structure. I had the GCLOADER in mind from the start.
@@Magneteco but now you can not play original disc games! Personally I use picoboot with original disc drive to have both options available and much cheaper than GC Loader
@AlexSBedini it certainly is much cheaper. If you look at several of the mods videos I have uploaded, I tend to typically remove the disc drive in favor of Optical Drive Emulators. I have a large collection of games and would much rather make backups of them so they remain in good shape, especially in the case of GameCube because the games are so expensive! Now, if the Flippy Drive came out at the making of this video, I probably would have gone that route. At the end of the day, pick what works for your needs!
I reacapped mine and it wouldn't read discs until I got it down to about 118 ohms.
What's going on people, why ps2 is so popular again?😅
@@somtowyer3221 Can't speak for everyone, but I'm pretty sure it has always has been a popular system.
Where can I download games on my SD card or best one
You already know I cannot tell people these things on RUclips. But, a quick Google search will give you some great results!
Is the fan a 12 volt fan attached to 5 volt rail? That might cause overheating.
@krip3760 There's a lot of discussion about this on many forums related to the PS2. While there are posts on people expressing they are worried about overheating, there is very little on actual consoles experiencing issues. Since we took proper precautions with all the thermal pads being replaced with more efficient ones and made sure the fan is blowing out hot air, there should be little to no issues. To be fair, I do keep my PS2 well ventilated and have played it for 8 hours straight at one point with no issues. I'm willing to update this video if I come across heat problems in the future.
Love this. Just one question. What’s the step on putting the games on your computer? Cause after that you created a folder to put on the SSD. Just need to know how you got the games to the computer please thanks
@@djjulz23 I personally use imgburn to make .iso copies of my physical PS2 games. You can also sail the internet seas and acquire the through websites. The choice is yours!
@@Magneteco thanks

9:20 good insight while everyone else doesn't tell why did he did that .
Thank you very much, and thank you for checking out the video!
Aye man, good work.. can I buy that..
@@protegegaming2015 Get out.
How much for the ps2? You do good work. Cleanliness is important. PS2 looks good.
I appreciate you checking out my video and praising the work that I do! Unfortunately the consoles I work on are not for sale since I use then to play games on my gaming channel. My apologies for the inconvenience and I hope you understand.
I thought i read somewhere that when setting up the GC loader with swiss you needed two SD cards. One that's smaller for the OS and one for your games. Has that changed?
@malevolenceD3CAY I can guarantee you, that with a legitimate GC Loader you can run everything off one SD card. This is the way I've been using mine to play games. However, you can also buy an Micro SD Card and an SD2P2 adapter if you wish to run your games from there.
@@Magneteco fair enough, thank you. I wasn't sure because I swear I heard or read that it could only read Swiss off of a SD card that was like idk "2gb" (can't remember the actual size)at largest or something. So I was completely convinced I was going to have to buy 2 different SD cards. Thank you for confirming.
@malevolenceD3CAY No problem at all. I'm glad we were able to clarify this so you know what your options are. If you need further help, just let me know. Happy gaming!
Thank you for this tutorial. It works perfectly, so far. If I can make one suggestion, is that you either change your resolution or you zoom in when you're showing the files on your computer. They were very hard to see and if some people weren't very computer savy, it makes it harder to get this done. Other than that, I was able to follow your instructions and get this working. So again, I say thank you. I have subscribed and liked. I can't believe you don't have more. Good job.
@EMSS-ul8bq That is a great suggestion! I watched this on my phone and I agree it's difficult to see. I'm glad the mod worked for you and I appreciate the feedback. Happy gaming!
@@Magneteco I thank you for responding to my comment. I have a question I'm hoping you can answer (even though I mildly criticized your video, sorry about that, lol). I've been (very) slowly adding games to my SSD in my PS2 over the past 2 months. This weekend I installed some more games onto the SSD. Two of the games work and the other three don't. I had GTA: SA and GTA VC, that were working when I left my comment. Now I installed Ice Age 2, Jeopardy, and the 3 Jak and Daxter games. IA2 and Jeopardy work fine, but the three JaD games don't. After I load them in OPL, the game looks like it's starting. I get the Playstation 2 logo and the JaD copyright screen. Then the screen goes black and never loads. I've done some research and changed some game settings in OPL. I changed Mode1 to ON for all 3 games. After some further research, it was suggested to turn on Modes 2 and 6 also, when I went to the settings, they were already on. Another suggestion was changing the DMA to MDMA0. I tried it with all 3 and then I didn't even get the logos. I have used the same computer and ImageBurn to copy all of the games to the computer before transferring them to the SSD in the PS2, so I didn't think that was the problem, but I used another computer to copy them and the same thing is happening. These are all games I own and in excellent condition. Do you know of a solution I haven't tried? I can see from my research that I'm not the only one experiencing this problem, but there are so many other black screen issues, over the years, that it's getting convoluted. If you'd rather not answer me directly, maybe you can make a video on this if you know the answer. I'm sure it would get some views. Thank you for reading this long winded explanation and thank you for your video.
@EMSS-ul8bq No worries about your constructive critisims. I actually agreed and have zoomed when using my desktop in later videos. Thank you again for pointing that out. I'm genuinely surprised that the Jak and Daxter games do not work. OPL seems to be optimized to work with most popular games. You are not alone though, what you are experiencing is a known issue. Since I don't play Jak and Daxter games very much here are some steps you can try: Jak III: Modes 1,3,5,6,7 ON Jak II: Modes 3,5,6 ON Jak and Daxter: Modes 3,5,6 ON (Try with 1 as well if it doesn't work.)
@@Magneteco I have to thank you once again. I changed those settings and now all of the games are working, so thank you. Just in case someone else asks you or sees this: Jak and Daxter 1: I tried it with Modes 3, 5, 6 On and 1 both On and OFF, it worked both ways. Jak II - I only tried it with Modes 3, 5, 6 On. I didn't have 1 ON. I might experiment turning it ON also, just to satisfy my curiosity, but since it's working now, good enough. Jak III - Modes 1, 3, 5, 6 ON. I don't have a Mode 7. With those 4 ON, it works. For all the games, DMA was either left at or changed back to UDMA 4. I really appreciate your great tutorial and your help. You've made me love my good old PS2 even more than I did 20 some odd years ago, when I bought it.
I'm nowhere near tech savvy unfortunately and all I have is a chromebook laptop. Is there a way I can have you set me one up and some select games to go with it to save me the trouble of trying to look for other options ? Please respond with a way I can reach you through email or other means, I would really appreciate it
Unfortunately this is not a service I provide nor a service I feel comfortable providing, my friend. My apologies.

@kyleamey6243 I did not. The only location I know of is the bottom of the console.
@@Magneteco thank you I enjoyed watching the video
Mate, that battery meant that you didn't need to buy a memory card unlike the PS1. It's definitely a quirk, but not a negative.
Great video though, so helpful. Thank you!
@Madmya That is true, it did save you from buying a memory card. I for one am not a fan of losing all your saves when the battery dies, but luckily there are ways to back them up!
One of the most overrated consoles of all time.
Hey, don't let the Saturn fans hear you. They are a passionate bunch.
I just bought a PS2 FAT with a unknown modchip with a seller who said that the lens wasnt running games, but after figuring out how to disable the modchip, i checked a list to see if it had any specific method to run games which apparently was common in the first modchips, with that I found out that to read the games I have to put the game in the drawer, press the reset until it turns off and then tapping reset once and then it runs the game in just couple seconds. But unfortunetily i cant open the dvd drive to clean the lens and check the rubber because of a stripped screw lol.
@joojdobixo aw man, so you can't repair or clean due to a darn screw? Maybe there are methods to removing a stripped screw so you can open it and take a look inside.
Very cool video! I'm all up for more PS2 content! I have just bought a PS2 off eBay with a broken disc drive. I will try cleaning to see if it does help but I might not bother replacing it if it ends up not working.
You may not have to! What type of PS2 is it? My next video will cover some easy to do mods!
It's a SCPH-30001 just like the one in your video. If a thorough cleaning don't bring the laser back, I'll just leave it be. I have assembled Jeff Chen's easyHDD and I'll use it with Grimdoomer's exFAT version of OPL!
@jonathanmichaud6800 That's exactly what I had in mind. Great minds my friend, great minds.
bro i have a question. do you put the games to the sd card with the folder of the game. like when you open the folder and you see all track bin and cue files. or has it to be in zip data?
@corehazard4709 Do not put the games in as a .zip format. The Fenrir Duo will not be able to read it. I'll use Resident evil as an example. The file setup should look like this. SD Card/Games/Resident Evil/.bin .cue .track files.
@@Magneteco thank you. im still using windows 7 you know. thats why i dont know, how the folder icon looks on windows 11. thats why i asked :D
@@corehazard4709 I concretely understand. I hope you were able to get it all up and running, my friend.
Always wanted that Gameboy player when i was younger.
Same! I hope that over time, you were finally a le to get one, my friend. I appreciate you stopping by to watch the video!
@@perkulant4629 I’ve got one. It rules, unless you wanna play WarrioWare with the gyro in the cartridge. Which obviously you do.
You're telling me you don't pick up the GameCube in the air and shake it around?
