Boba Fett's spaceship interior mechanism. (maybe)
I attempted to figure out a way that both pilot's platform and the saloon platform would rotate together, making the best use of the interior space. I tried to incorporate as much as I could from the various appearances, including the escape hatch seen in the clone wars cartoon.
I constrained this to fit the hull of a 1/72 scale model.

1:72 scale uboat model, weathered with acrylics. I am using Lifecolor acrylics, I got the Kreigsmarine set, there are a couple of light greys in there I am using. Tamiya acrylic is a bit more 'plastic' whereas life color tends to be more pigmenty. I wet the area with plain water, until the surface is saturated then dab in the paint.

    This is close, but it's not 100% accurate. There's supposed to be an airlock behind the cockpit section as seen in the Clone Wars episodes "Death Trap" and "R2 come home"

    • @TristanReidford
      @TristanReidford Год назад

      It's not super clear but at the 16 second mark the pilot bunk module comes in, there is a hole in this part which is the airlock from death trap. It's tricky as it has to line up with the center of the radar dish one the back of the ship.

    • @ivar637
      @ivar637 Год назад

      The show’s design was pretty terrible. Seems like a chore to get to the pilot seat and the rotating room below the cockpit really isn’t that useful when it’s piloted by one person (which it usually is, atleast before BoBF took place).

    • @DesmondDentresti
      @DesmondDentresti Год назад

      @@ivar637 a ladder that spans the floor and spine in an L with the mechanism above allowing you to walk to the seat seems the best design by far.

    • @ivar637
      @ivar637 Год назад

      @@DesmondDentresti without a rotating cockpit it just seems so awkward to get in the chair. You’d have to climb up the ladder and then try to jump to the chair.

    • @tracytron7162
      @tracytron7162 Год назад

      Even this isn't accurate, it's still missing the airlock, which so many of these cutaways seem to forget about

    • @ivar637
      @ivar637 Год назад

      @@tracytron7162 the airlock isn’t mentioned anywhere outside of that one Clone Wars episode, in every other media the round object on the back of the ship is a radar dish. A radar dish makes more sense in my opinion, the proportions don’t really add up for it to be an airlock.

    Dear Tristan, just a question!! What type of masking or technique did you use for the cracked paint? It looks much better than typical masking systems because it has a lot of micro cracks. Especially the Light-Gray paint look more scratched than masked. PLEASE HELP ME!

    • @TristanReidford
      @TristanReidford 2 года назад

      Hi Giordano, The technique is called the 'hairspray chipping' technique. There are tutorials, but basically you paint a base coat in rusty brown, once dry apply a generous layer of hairspray, and once dry, a thin layer of the light grey. after avout 15- 20 mins, you can use a wet brush to saturate the light grey paint with water, and soon, it begins to disolve the harispray underneath, and with light brushing the paint begins to flake off. it's difficult and you must use an airbrush, I made and painted two rusty tanks to practice. On this submarine model it was particularly flakey, if your top layer is too thin, or you begin chipping with water too soon, the paint begins to flake in big mushy patches, and it's better if the chips are smaller and more in scale. It's super fun if you get the hang of it.
