RC Solar Gliders based on Q12
Просмотров 1,3 тыс.4 года назад
As a winter-project for the Leidsche Luchtvaart Club, we decided to build or own RC gliders, powered by the sun. We used the design of the Horejsi-Q12 lightweight glider for our basis, with slightly more span and chord to fit 16 flexible solar cells. The solar power converter is designed by ourselves, specifically for the project. The energy is stored in a small Lipo/LiIon battery for buffering...

Drone operation with PCS7
Просмотров 1,1 тыс.6 лет назад
We are considering the use of drones in industrial environments where an operator, who is used to work from his standard PCS7 operator station can control a drone. Many applications are worth considering, from automatic response to incoming alarms up to pre-defined missions with inspection points where data can be stored in a database. From September 2017 to February 2018 I made a proof of conc...

Solar RC Plane 8 hour Endurance Flight
Просмотров 10 тыс.7 лет назад
We made our own electro RC glider and equipped it with solar panels. After some tests we went for the Dutch endurance record and easilly did an 8 hour flight. We made our own MPPT with a buck converter and arduino. The plane is equipped with a Pixhawk for UAV. A standard FPV system just for the fun is also built in, including antenna tracker. The flight was done during the yearly "Modelvliegkam...
Wonderful project, could i get to know about the solar pannel connections how to do that, i having non felxible panels 5BB, also how was the connection with mppt and motor and battery were done ?

it's crazy to me how few views this video has, yet on the other side of the internet, a cat knocks something off the table, bam, 2M views :D
Hello what type of model is that ? Do you own some DXF files of it ? I own CNC - i would like to build it myself.
From what I understand they’re not available anymore, if your looking for a geodesic wing, look for Tera v5…

Any data on the performance? Can they stay aloft? If so under what conditions? Seems irrelevant seeing them flown for a short sport flight, would be nice to see some actual data. It’s what everyone wants to know
I do not hear your voice, but music. how to understand how it works ?
Music is annoying AF
Been a while since you posted an update on V2. Project been 'cancelled' or put on hold? Just curious, looking to do soemthing similar myself. Cheers.
The crAsh iS very hertful I can understand it also hearts me
No autopilot? Wow!
Thankyou so much for sharing your work and code. I am curious to know why you divide analogRead(battery meter) with 74.93796526.. is this you full battery voltage? you also say remove the formula or change the value to 1 at time 0.48 in the video. Please help understand this value
amazing
Amazing good job em
Very good video l like 😊👍
Put a 4G modem on this thing and you could fly across the entire country or even further.
i rly felt that crash. i, too, have built something for a year and then crashed on maiden.
Sehr schön.👌Kannst ja gern auch mal bei mir vorbei schauen. VG ruclips.net/video/v05bVxDtWS0/видео.html
Cool plane and great flying:) stay safe.Iam now your channel subscriber.Don't forget to watch my channel too
Nicely done! I enjoyed watching your RC plane chase sequences with your Mavic Mini. 😎👍 New supporter for your channel, hopefully you'll check out my Mavic Mini related channel and connect? 😎👍
Those look really cool. As for you much larger solar glider 2, I noticed you have a new tail design. I am trying to build a large glider and I am stuck on the tail design. Do you have any information on the tail for your solar glider 2. Thanks a lot :)
That's awesome! The MPPT charge controller, are you able to share some details on it? I'm working on a solar powered glider too, so that'd be super duper useful. I was also going to design a MPPT charge controller (haven't got there yet) but it was going to be a bit of work. Have you seen this project? hackaday.io/project/158859-high-efficiency-mppt-solar-charger I was going to base it off a minimal version of that. What will be critical is the efficiency of course, but also fast power point tracking since these planes turn rather quick.
Wonderful work.. I want to know the type of panels you used and where you got them.. Also a list of all the parts would be great trying to build one also
We used the Sunpower C60 solar cells. We bought some from ebay, but we didn't like them. We contacted sunpower and bought a lot of cells there. Later we bought extra cells from mrwatt.eu
impossible to hear anything
Hi. I have a thesis project. I need to do Mppt buck converter. Have you ever done Mppt buck converter? Can U help me about this issue.Thank U.
Did all of this code end up in one place at some time. Sure would like to see it.
Were you running 8cell or 12cell. What was the prop size
2*6cell 5800mah with 22x12 prop
Did you consider powering the motor directly from the solar panels and not having a battery? No battery and no DCDC would be a big weight saving. I tested this using a trust stand ruclips.net/video/bTIRTGlTLms/видео.html As the throttle is increased the thrust increases until you reach a certain point where the power drops off (as you might expect). Inverting the aircraft could be problematic. Maybe a small battery only for the servos and radios?
Thanks for the video! At 5:34 it looks like the FB on the XL4016 is connected to a PWM output on the Arduino. Is this correct? The data sheet says that the "Feedback Pin (FB). Through an external resistor divider network, FB senses the output voltage and regulates it".
That is correct. The resistor network is removed and the FB pin is connected to the Arduino PWM pin. There is also a capacitor connected on this pin, this capacitor makes from the PWM frequency and voltage. On this way we could regulate the XL4016 with the Arduino (Mppt algorithm).

Hi guys! Can I find anywhere your Arduino MPPT Converter plans an programming? Thanks! Ondrej
shopee.ph/topet1425/1048080140?smtt=0.0.9 This kind of xl4016 dcdc converter, can you pleas tell me the components to be remove. Thank you in advance
Do we need to remove / disolder the potentiometer, 1k resistor and the capacitor from the circuit?
Yes, you have to remove these all.
Do we need to remove / disolder the potentiometer, 1k resistor and the capacitor from the circuit?
+1
What material did you use for solarcells covering?
Simple wrapping film for gifts, that shrinks with heat.
What's the specific output voltage range of the DC DC Converter you can achieve from the PWM code to charge the battery?
It is just the range that is avialable from the DC DC Converter.
@@fpvdrone3159 so you can charge the battery no matter the output voltage is? This means you did not include limits for the pwm signal from arduino? Thanks
@@buboyto1928 There is no way to limit it with the hardware. The limit is all in the software, measured from the output.
3.7kg... how much are batteries, about 1-1.5kg li-ions? We also stepped back from making dihedrals, autopilot takes care of stab perfectly... it's interesting to see that you have separated tail stabs. We've stayed with 80cm T form... do you guys use gear box? we don't... just use low kv motor with folding carb-fiber prop. Looks great!!! Good luck! we're one step behind, building 2nd version with fully composite...
The batteries are 50 gram each with 20 cells, that is 1kg. We have no gear box, just a 330kv motor on a 4s battery.
@@fpvdrone3159 cool. And what is the prop? We're on 450kv. and are you also on li-ions with bms board?
@@HaykMartirosyan The prop is an Aeronaut 20X12.
Thanks so much for the code. I have read it carefully. It seems that finally you only deviate from the "steady midpoint" of the voltage controller by + or -1stepAmount = (controlPanelVolt - panelVolts)/2; //Calculate + or - and for higer difference take bigger steps if(stepAmount < 0) stepAmount = -1; if(stepAmount > 0) stepAmount = 1;is it fast enough to converge ? I mean that every loop you will increase (or decrease) by 1 the PWM value and recompute the MPPT 5 times slower. It should work (as it does !) but I haven't yet fully understood why it works !But frankly speaking is a great hack of this chineese busck converter !Good job
Fantastic job, really !
I noticed you added "really" to the end of fantastic something. I'm curious is that a British thing?

Really great build, anywhere I can get the plans?
Really love the project, is there anywhere I can get the laser cutting files for fuselage and wing ribs. Thanks a lot for providing awesome content.
As in for version one?
Very cool! What's the goal of this project?
The goal is to achieve more hours and better flight performance compared to our first. ruclips.net/video/yuY-1-EfhdI/видео.html
Awesome way cost effective. Amazing how the pricing has gone down so much for the RC hobbies and wishing more get into electronics in healthy, safe and generally well being ways.
Could I have m ore info on the motor please
