    ONE OF THE BASIC RULES TO SHOW THNGS IN A MARTIAL ARTS VIDEO: DONT DISPLAY A BIGGER MASTER VS A SMALLER STUDENT... I'm not talking about the goodness and freshness of your sistem (wich actually IS great), I'm talking about media, marketing, communication rules... That's a huge mistake, expecially for Wing Chun, a systm made for smaller people to overcome biggre opponents... JUST A SUGGESTION

    I'm totally confused in what I see. I sense no trapping. no centre line theory. its as if the circular motion is meant to end in a push or a pull.which would useful for judo or aikido. But as for punching it would come of angles rather than footwork. I enjoy what I see but feel if I did those movement I would simply have to clap and beat by opponent on his attack. Thanks for you video it was fun.

      David Jackson ea h circle is a hit. there is more than one method of chi sau and this one is in fact superb at teaching a higher understanding of cjasing the center. can be difficult to do but the goal is to aom you pressure to their core at all times even off line and even while they circle around and push back maintain an aim through whatever contact point you have. then as you go forward you make an arch inside of their defense you can use this open the extra space required to hit or to improve the students defense and then push and pull the limbs to test structure root and response.

      David Jackson Chi sau should be used in many ways not just about striking. Here he is trying to teach her control and yeilding and how one flows to the other. Wing chun in any form should never just be about striking, if practicing with another wc person you must dominate there whole being, phisically, mentally, almost anyway you can imagine. there blance is key for this, if they cant keep there center they cant strike back with anything with any force, practicing like this is vital to reach a higher level

    shit...this doesn't help at all but makes you stiff. Sounds weird in your ears properply but think about it. There are always openings your not using, either the student or the teacher. both learn just to stick but not to use the centerline to strike when open...

    I am a very skilled Jujitsu Instructor, I dedicated 17 years to my Grandmaster and back in 2010 I ran into a Wing Chun practitioner and thought, sparring him would be cake. Without bragging, I almost never have trouble with any sparring of other folks because i am very skilled in counters and counter counter methods, but when i sparred with my friend Jeff I was blown away. Wing Chun was literally something i could not comprehend while sparring him. From 2010 i fell in love with WING CHUN. I dropped all Jujitsu affilitation and went into WC training. With that said, I'd love to learn more about your program, but your website is colored funny behind a white background and i am unable to read a lot of content. So please check out your website, for the instructors, it has pink and white writing on a white background and is impossible to read. :(

    *****: Thank you for your comment. I would assume that you are also a Chinese Martial Arts practitioner. The ceremony is called Bai Shi. The pupils who does Bai Shi has made a commitment to the organization, to the founder, to his kung fu brothers and sisters as well as to his master. The master recognizes this commitment by allowing the student to enter the door and in turn makes a commitment to give the student the true transmission of the art and to start to give him "indoor-student" training. To further learn more about Bai Shi, please ask your own Sifu to educate you, if you don't have, then google some info about Bai Shi to educate yourself. In case, you are not Chinese Martial Arts practitioner and come from different discipline, then please respect our tradition as you wish other people to respect yours as well.

    i like this method a lot! for one, it doesnt raise the elbow and expose the ribs... 2, its obviously much more simplified and efficient since it can be used to attack also, simultaneously. but the only thing im kinda stuck about is... in a real situation... if someone threw a punch at me, instinctively i wouldnt try to bridge it with a Tan Sao first, well atleast i wouldnt feel comfortable enough to since i would have to turn my body (for my Tan to bridge a hook) which slightly takes longer plus it would block some of my own gates ... i remember in a real fight i was in, someone threw a punch and i simply/instinctively raised my elbow into a bong sao, i "deflected" the punch but WASNT able to follow up because it came in a flash, maybe i would have been able to if i instinctively used Your method. but as far as bridging with the Tan Sao first, i feel like i would need superhuman eye coordination and accurate reflex in order to bridge the attack... instead, raising my elbow covered the whole area i was being attacked... i just didnt like that i wasnt able to follow up. so if someone threw a hook, is Your method of a bong sao effective if the fist is coming from outside your Yin peripheral? if the elbow remains down and on the Yin line, arent you more vulnerable for a good angled hook? or in other words is raising the elbow more beneficial for peripheral attacks? is Your method of the bong sao more designed for straighter lined attacks? even tho im pretty sure if someone threw a hook you would use a totally different strategy in general, but every time i see a tutorial video of WC its always demonstrated vs straight lined or against other WC practitioners. no situation is the same ... with this being said would you use this "type" of bong sao for all applications a bong sao can be used for? or all depending on the situation?? Thank you!

    i appreciate this video very much. great break down of the body and its gates, i would love to see more WC instruction via diagrams of the body, and more scientific approaches to WC. great concept of squaring off to your opponent. i like how u pointed out the disadvantage of pivoting your body and temporarily losing your gates, even tho you may be able to develop much force since the body is cocked back an ready to unwind. that 45 degree angle step toward the end of the video is very important & effective, now i see the purpose of it when i see the Sub Yee Jeet Lik form when they advance and retreat in their arc-shaped steps. thank you.

    @Mightmeatmonsta: To answer your question of "That's interesting. How would you fight a boxer than? A boxer does not come straight in like a wing chun guy. His punches come from the shoulder or are generally hooks. How would you stop a hook after a straight punch? And how would you stop a grappler, since you said that your system can be used against all styles?" The answer is based on our Bridging Gate Concept. Any attack from outside gate must be bridged from inside, any attacks from outside gate must be bridged from the inside. In this video, we use an inside gate attack as an example to demonstrate the basic centerline "Yin" punch. For what you ask, whatever 'Shape' of movement we use to deal with let say a hook, must be based on the idea of Occupying time and becoming the space.

    • @mightymeatmonsta
      @mightymeatmonsta 9 лет назад

      Thank you. Now can you elaborate more on what that means. I learned, when stopping a takedown, to rotate your body SQUARE to the side that your opponent's head is on (If he is on the left side, rotate left, first grabbing his right arm with your left.). This squaring twists his body forward and puts the weight on the leg on the side you are twisting your body. Then all you need to do is rotate your body (this is done all in one quick movement as soon as he hits you), holding on to the arm, and throwing him down. Then, KNEELING STRAIGHT UP(you NEVER lean over because if he is an mma guy and he pulls you down, there goes your advantage out the window. Also, if he tries to kick or knee you, you won't see his leg because it is behind you and not in your peripheral vision. This is why you always kneel straight up, so you can see the attack also.), you can attack using any technique you choose to end the fight. But you lost me when you said the outside gate must be bridged from the inside.

  • @mightymeatmonsta
    @mightymeatmonsta 10 лет назад

    That's very interesting and very efficient! I like that and have to try that! You use only one hand and the other hand can be used in case of attack from the other hand. Wow, that's very cool. Great video tutorial!

  • @mightymeatmonsta
    @mightymeatmonsta 10 лет назад

    You have to step in so you place yourself closer to the arm. Yes, that is correct, but you have to understand the centerline changes when you do that. The centerline now becomes the CENTRAL LINE and the central line changes to the CENTER LINE because you are turning your body towards the attack. That is one thing that most people do not understand. We can also attack from the central line, as seen in what you are doing here. Maybe that will help people to understand. I know it sounds confusing but it really isn't. Just remember that the center line and central line (that's the line coming from the shoulder in towards the center at a 45 degree angle), switch when you change body positions. So you may start from the center line, but due to your change of body position, facing the attacking arm in this case, changes the center line and central line and they switch positions, making the central line the new center line (because your wrist is now in the center of your body), and the center line, the new central line (because you are moving away from the center line with your body and now your arm is aligned with your shoulder, not the center of your body). You are right, you NEVER shift the weight to where your center line moves forward or backward. This is TYPICAL of crappy modified with a 70/30 weight distribution. In traditional, we use 50/50 or 60/40, with the BALANCE over the rear leg. So when we rotate our bodies, our centerline does not move forward or backwards, just rotates on the same axis. Again, there are more similarities than differences between our two systems. That's right. You don't want to wait until the punch or kick is right on top of you because it needs that large arc to produce power. So that is why you have to step in and do the tan sao at the bicep or shoulder, to jam the attack. Same goes with the kick. You NEVER back up from a kick. You either step in to nullify the power, or to the side(depending on the type of kick) to nullify the power of the kick. This allows you to even grab the leg and attack it or the other leg that is balancing it. This also gives you time to enter and close the distance, trapping the arm and finishing the fight. Same goes for the tan sao. If you step in, you will jam the attack and it stops him also from rotating his body, which stops him from countering. Excellent! You know what you are talking about! Stepping in on a 45 degree angle and catching it by the elbow or bicep is exactly what you should do. You are not only nullifying his power, but you are placing yourself outside of range of his counter. OUTSTANDING! I am impressed! I noticed also with your footwork (which is excellent, by the way), you can easily sweep the leg and take him down if you like, or do any type of joint lock and then throw. Yes, this is EXTREMELY useful and I would recommend everyone take notes and listen because this is how wing chun should be done!

  • @mightymeatmonsta
    @mightymeatmonsta 10 лет назад

    Right, but we don't block at the wrist because he can turn over the elbow and do and elbow strike, plus, he can now use the other side and attack. We block at either the bicep or shoulder, effectively stopping the opponent from rotating his body so he can't do another strike. Plus, the straight punch acts as a block against his other hand, especially if we step in, putting his other hand nearly out of reach.

  • @mightymeatmonsta
    @mightymeatmonsta 10 лет назад

    Again, you are repeating what you said before and so will I. What you are saying correct and is what you want to do. You want to go to the outside or BLINDSIDE of his attacking arm, forming a "t", with YOU being the TOP of the "t" and he, being the BOTTOM of the "t". This way, like you said, you can attack him from your 9 gates (we have 4 in Ip man wing chun, inside and outside, upper and lower gates, so actually ours is more simplified than yours), with safety and with impunity. Maybe that will help your viewers understand what you are saying better.

  • @mightymeatmonsta
    @mightymeatmonsta 10 лет назад

    Standing sideways is NOT efficient! You are right! You NEVER want to stand sideways because now you are only able to use one arm and one leg (Like you said). It is always better to stay SQUARE to your opponent, so you have use of both arms and legs in the neutral stance and two arms and one leg in the side stance. Also, it makes it easy to sweep your leg and to grapple you to the ground. I agree with everything you say here and it makes perfect sense. Thank you! This is an EXCELLENT TUTORIAL!

  • @mightymeatmonsta
    @mightymeatmonsta 10 лет назад

    No, that's the RIGHT way to do it because you are trapping the hand and immobilizing it. It really isn't two steps if done simultaneously like it should be. Any other way leaves the hand open so your opponent can move it, possibly around your defense, and strike you. This is one of the main differences between Ip Man style and your black flag system.

  • @mightymeatmonsta

    What he is doing is what Grandmaster Cheung has been doing all along, and that is, moving to the outside of the attacking arm, where very little pressure can destroy the opponents defenses. This is nothing new, but it is a good concept. You see, applying forward pressure, the body is strongest to resist. When you apply ANGLED pressure either from 45 or 90 degrees, the body can no longer stand the strain. This is very true in the stance. If you attack straight away, and the person is stronger than you are, you won't budge him. But if you move to his side, at either a 45 or even better, a 90 degree angle, you can disrupt his balance quite easily no matter how strong he is. This is because now his body is relying on the smaller muscles of the sides of the legs and hips, which is as strong as the front and rear quadriceps and the feet and ankles, which give the balance. He calls it a different name but the concept is the same. Occupying the outside space of an attack where he can disrupt balance, control the center line through either the center or central line, and stay out of reach of the opponent's counter.

    Practically speaking, historical accuracy means nothing when fighting an opponent. What works will win, what doesn't work will lose. There's a guy on RUclips interviewing from master to master, like he is searching for the earliest historical original wing chun, some long lost secret, as if that will be the strongest, truest and most undiluted. This is a kung fu fantasy and this quest will lead him nowhere. This is as ridiculous as researching medicine by declaring that cavemen were the wisest & what they used must be the best because it was the original.

    Now everything is clear to me. Since Black Flag Wing Chun is product of GM Lin's research, I am very happy to see how this great art contribute to the today's martial arts world. Currently, I live in Russia and very interested to learn this art. How can we bring this art to my country?

    Dear everyone, I am sincerely asking everyone to watch this video first before posting any comments. I know this is a very long almost 2 hours video. We never take any part in responding to internet slanders/attacks in the last 5 years because we want our kungfu speak for itself. We have grown so big now where we don't have the time to clarify to every members. In this video is our first and last official clarification that we never did in the last 4-5 years ever since the first internet slander started against us [There is no war, war means 2 side of party against each other, we never attack anyone, however, there are coward slanders against us using fake username].It is important to clarify once for all. Going forward, we don't need to answer again. It is up to the public to draw their own conclusion. We wish everyone to watch it with an open mind if you sincerely really wants to know the other side of the story.

    if evaluated and based on this story, I concluded that HKB founded by Mr. Kenneth is a new color in the traditional martial arts scene, particularly from Chinese martial arts. with his research through the learning process and finally created an art and named HKB. Based on the story above also, HKB itself has nothing to do with the "name" of a martial arts school that exists today. honestly in my personal view as a lover of art, a new color in the arts is legal, because the art itself is no limit, an art (whatever it is) will always evolve dynamically following the development of the era. And the problem is, can that art provide benefits to our life, around and also not detrimental to any party? Why is an art have to be debated? is there any one of us dared to declare that we had the purest skills or the best of art? certainly no one have that pure one right? because it might been changes in the generations before us, that's what I mean with tyat art, it will & always evolve as ART era. in this world there is no fundamentally new things, we only can updated or fix or modify the outer shape of something / art. My message as a lover of art are: its good & legal to create a new kind of art, but ..... we have should not & never forget from where the basics that we got, whether through research, book, and experience Personally, etc. thus create a new color of art. I'm here is only as a lover and an observers of art (neutral) and that I mentioned here is the meaning and form of art in itself, need the generosity of the art creators, practitioners and other viewers in understanding the meaning of art. So.... at last I would like to say thank you, and sorry if there are any mistakes in the writing and the different views in the name of art. Open and honest in all the magnanimity and maturity through self is a high level of learning of life. Right and wrong there is nothing absolute in this life, lies and honesty will be paid in cash by our own KARMA. I hope that my little opinion view can be interpreted properly by the parties concerned. An art should could unite & bound ppls, & not broke the relationship. Asa long as we could to be open, honest, & hv a responsibility about anything that what we have done.
