    Great video but question: Is a webserver required to view files via a web browser (I am assuming yes) and if so, how is this setup and where are the files uploaded to to be able to be viewed? Thanks

    • @DanielTechTips
      @DanielTechTips 24 дня назад

      A web server essentially is to publish website, the FTP server is a method to upload those files that have the contents of the website so the web server can publish it. For viewing or accessing files like a shared folder, you need to have WebDAV enabled & configured.

    • @DanielTechTips
      @DanielTechTips 27 дней назад

      Hello @aravindayyalasomayajula2931, yes the initial setup does have "datastore1" automatically created for you. On the left pane --> goto "Storage" --> you should see all the datastore listed there. If your hardware have 2 HDDs & one of the HDD is installed with the OS, then the 2nd HDD must be added manually. Click on the --> "New datastore" button, select --> "Create a new VMFS datastore", then select the HDD Controller (eg. Intel SATA), give a name to the new datastore (eg. datastore2) and follow the on-screen instructions, finally the new datastore will be listed there. You can check out this video (ruclips.net/video/2Rvl1gjavBI/видео.html)

    • @DanielTechTips
      @DanielTechTips 2 месяца назад

      @zakidz6716 thanks for watching. Yes, Ventoy does support booting both from UEFI & Legacy BIOS. Here is the catch, those Legacy BIOS with CSM (Compatible Support Mode) available will usually works without any problems. Only those BIOS that are really old like those AMIBios, Megatrend or some weird system that are found during the eras of Windows 95/98 will probably failed from booting although it supports USB boot. I have luck with Legacy BIOS (CSM Enabled) and UEFI booting with Ventoy without any problems, but I do encountered issues on those Win95/98 era system, heck even those system doesn't support booting from USB... hahaha...

    Exactly what I was looking for... Thanks! free of charge question :D : Is there any difference bewyeem a pactch and a iso update process?

    • @DanielTechTips
      @DanielTechTips 2 месяца назад

      @GilbertoDECampos thanks for watching, the main difference between a Patch vs ISO update process, was that the Patch needs to be download manually, updated manually & restart the Host server manually each time. Yes, very time consuming. While the ISO update can be done automatically albeit multiple restarts. Save a lot of hassles... hahaha... The Cons here is that ISO updates will simply determine the best patches available & do it for you automatically, not suitable in a production environment where you need to perform SIT & UAT to ensure 100% compatibility with the VMs. Some patches will break some old OS like CentOS 4 or Windows Server 2000 or worst your vLAN. So by doing an individual patch & SIT separately, will ensure better compatibility & also its the best practice.

    • @Strykenine
      @Strykenine 3 месяца назад

      I'll take a stab at answering this, but it may not be entirely correct since I am also here trying to recover a lost pool from this kind of testing setup. When you deploy in production across multiple vmware hosts in a cluster (or other hypervisor that supports clustering) one of the things you get from this is failover - if a host has a VM running on it and the host fails, the VM is migrated over and the most recent saved state is booted on the remaining hosts. The problem with this is the hardware passthrough. Last time I checked (before VMware was slurped up by Broadcom) clustering does not support hardware passthrough. I wanted to pass through a GPU instead of storage, but the problem is largely the same. You loose the ability to cluster, so you have a single point of failure. In this case, in production the best option is to have storage physically separate and to do your redundancy on the SAN and not in Vmware (or whatever hypervisor you are using). Again, this may not be correct but this is the main reason I can think of.

    • @DanielTechTips
      @DanielTechTips 3 месяца назад

      This methods are not suitable for if you have HA, as during migration to another Host, the passthrough are not migrated. As said by strykenine7902 is correct.

      @DanielTechTips 3 месяца назад

      Yes, you are correct.

      @@StrykenineThank you for your response. I am actually a small "home user". I have a separate TrueNas core system running independently. I also have Blue Iris running on another windows machine. My idea is to run only the Windows machine 24/7 with VMWear and TrueNAS Scale in a VM (this is where I need to passthrough the SATA Controller). I understand the risk of doing this and to lose my data if something goes wrong and therefore my plan is then to use the existing TrueNas Core machine to backup for my data up let’s say once a week.

    • @DanielTechTips
      @DanielTechTips 3 месяца назад

      @Lepelot, myself also run a home lab too. Since you understand the risk & have a backup plan in place, then the data lost is minimized significantly. We as home lab & tech enthusiast sometimes don't mind the tinkering & the risks, as long as we can afford the down time. LOL.

      The Front panel can be removed by first removing the right side cover then it will unveils the screws. Each side have 2 screws with a total of 4 screws. Please start watch 3:55 until end on how to do this.

    HOW to COPY FiLES, ViDEO, DOCUMENTS, PiCTURES from HDD to NEW SSD without the OS? ALSO HOW to USE two STORAGE DRiVE 1 HDD & 1 SSD?

    • @DanielTechTips
      @DanielTechTips Год назад

      Hi @agustinmacalintal3978, Thank you for watching my video. Sadly there is no way to copy any data without loading the OS first. You can use any Linux distro with Live Boot (without install) to perform this data transfer (eg. Ubuntu Desktop). As for the using 2 drives in a single computer, just plugin the SATA & Power cable into the mainboard. But you need to ensure only 1 of the drive have the OS installed.

    Just a friendly question for you...have you considered at least using an AI voice to do your videos instead of making everyone have to READ everything ? Some of us do other things while we LISTEN to what you have to say and we WATCH the video when pertinent info comes up. Having to READ your whole presentation is not an option for me so I'm not going to bother watching the video. Using AI voices will GREATLY help everyone...and it's free

      @dalecorne3869 Thank you for spending the time to watch my video and yes I'm planning to use AI voice in my future video. Many thanks again.

      Hi danbetito2506, Thank you for subscribing to my channel and really appreciates it. For the FQDN setup, I will work on another video on how to properly configure and deploy it. Please give me a few weeks to prepare the required system and will definitely update once its ready in my channel. For the time being, have a read at this (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fully_qualified_domain_name) Many thanks.

    BE SURE to change the USB drive every so often--- if you use the same one for very long and use it often- it WILL begin to put out corrupt installs and all kinds of things going wrong-- NOT the fault of VENTOY-- but of the ACTUAL physical USB device!!! Just change it every so often.. (I'm talking from Experience-- took me a while to figure out it was the USB- and NOT ventoy).

    • @DanielTechTips
      @DanielTechTips Год назад

      Hi davidwayne9982, Thanks for the advice and yes it is advisable to replace or check the USB flash drive after a long period of use. Use the CMD --> chkdsk.exe [USB]: (to scan & check the USB drive) or you use any third party tools available for the same. Thus it is always suggested to use a reputable brand (eg. Kingston/Sandisk) as they have good QC on their products.

      @@DanielTechTips I do LINUX-- no EXE stuff on this machine.. but no matter- use it a bit- then convert it to be used with something else that isn't important and get a new one.

      Yeah, myself also have a few old USB drives just for the purpose of testing & some non-important stuff. For my daily drive, I still use a reputable brand. But as always, I do a backup to my NAS in case of any malfunction.

      Better plan: Make 2 drives & switch over when problems occur. I have had good luck with PNY drives, at least so far.

    Need help on how to skip the boot loop when you boot with windows 10... When the boot reach the last step and restart the ventoy start from the beginning again

    • @DanielTechTips
      @DanielTechTips Год назад

      Hi T-tro, During boot-up in Ventoy & you select Win10 to boot, there is a very quick message prompt... "Press any key to boot from CD...", you will need to press any key (eg. Space bar or Enter), then Win10 ISO will continue to boot. This is because your computer have existing OS installed & its part of the Windows protection mechanism. Once you have installed Win10 & required a reboot, you need to unplug the Ventoy USB to continue. Another way is to check your BIOS/UEFI's Boot Priority settings, your existing setting may set the "USB Drive/Device" as the primary boot device thus you always keep on booting to Ventoy instead. Let me know if this solve your problems & many thanks.

    hi, thanks for your vidéo ! I have a problem, when I put my key in rustdesk it writes host unknown. I think I made a mistake with the ports of my internet

      Hi Neptune, Please check the domain name, the name must be a FQDN and the DNS A Records is correct. It also works with DDDNS too... Also take note that the port number is 2 1 1 1 4 (there are 3 times number of 1, which is my mistake also in the start). Hope it helps...

    Hi, i need some help with my rustdesk server. I followed all the steps that you mentioned but when i try to fill the rustdesk client throws this message: "It's not ready. check your connection". i believe that is fault of my firewall sonicwall. But, i register all the ports, address object, services and NAT polices for the server. If you have some idea for solve that problem, i'm open to learn. Thanks, the video was very helpful edit: did yo know if i need register the ports and all the info in the ONT and the Firewall?

    • @DanielTechTips

      Hi Pablo, Thank you very much for viewing my channel. If your network have another router that are before the firewall, then that router also need to have the same ports open. But instead of pointing it to RustDesk server, it should point to your Firewall's IP Address and then the firewall points to your RustDesk's IP. Router ---> Firewall ---> RustDesk Server.
