Popular Times Scraper (PTS) - example
Просмотров 4724 года назад
Scrape the 'popular times' graph of any Google place. The scraper supports indirect search (if the place name is ambiguous), limiting your search to particular categories and restricting the search to literal search if needed (denying Google to automatically correct your search). Moreover, the scraper can deal with (a) places that have no popular times available and (b) places that do have popu...

    Infernal Affairs was such a better made movie than The Departed. It has more depth, they broke it into three parts for this movie.

    Infernal Affairs used flashbacks way too much and treated the audience like kids but The Departed was such a silly, over the top and stupid movie. Like I really needed to hear classic rock in another Scorsese film and they wasted Ray Winstone.

    Infernal Affairs just nails that Hong Kong flick “good guy yay, bad guy boo.” Simplicity and then throws it into carnage like a Greek tragedy. The Departed is so much more unhinged with a lot more layering in characters, and a lot more gore, profanity and violence. It feels more like King Lear with dramatic moments and terrible deaths. So yeah, same story but execution is apples and oranges for me.

    The difference is one was intended for western audiences and one was made for eastern audiences. If you find Internal Affairs more emotional and dramatic while The Departed was too fast and gritty, then you're more used to eastern films. If you find Infernal Affairs cheesy and soap-opera-ish while The Departed was realistic, then you're mored used to wester films. Simple.

    Infernal affairs is a solid crime thriller, but you guys in the comments saying its better than the Departed are just delusional. Scorese completely fleshed out all the characters and expanded on all themes, Departed is better its simply not close. One of the best remakes of all time

  • @EmericaNobles
    @EmericaNobles Год назад

    Infernal Affairs is way better than the Departed and its not even close. Especially if you watched Infernal Affairs before you watched The Departed. The Departed was miscasted. Several of the actors didn't fit the movie. Andy Lau, Tony Leung, Antony Tsang and the other Hong Kong actors also acted way better than the American actors. Some of the American actors acting were very exaggerated and didn't come off as natural. Hong Kong actors like Tony Leung are much more subtle and can communicate emotions just with their eyes instead of being so animated. Also Hong Kong movies are better than American movies in general given that they don't follow the stereotypically American script that is the exact same script for dang near every movie. American movies, at the beginning of the movie, you already know the end of it. The good guy is going to win, he's going to get the girl at the end and exchange a kiss and then everyone lives happily ever after. Hong Kong movies, will straight up kill the main character of the movie and wont give a dam* lol. And the bad guys actually win in many of the movies. The Infernal Affairs is a masterpiece in suspense, character development, plot twist and great acting by everyone involved.

    Infernal Affairs is so much better. I don't give a damn that Martin fucking Scorsese directed The Departed, it was a pretty bland and unnecessary remake. Plus, I love Di Caprio and Damon, I'm not crazy... but charisma-wise, Tony Leung crushes them both. Plus, all Jack Nicholson does in this movie is his Jack Nicholson show. In IA, Eric Tsang's villain is generic, but it's okay, what matters is the two main characters.

    Americans overdo it always...and it is never realistic in American Cinema. Never! The Hong Kong piece is the Original and that's why cutting & acting was original. Without the music it would have been better, but there is no better. It's a question of taste. I enjoy both because I'm neither American nor Chinese.

    I was fortunate enough to have seen Infernal Affairs in Asia when it came out. Similar to Hong Kong Noir fims of decade + prior with less sappiness. I have seen the Departed with other homage/ copycat films of IA and the orignal is better. (And no, the Depated is not on par with other Scorsese films like the Goodfellas.)

    This showed a big difference in term of directing. In The Departed, all I see that Leo acted like a gambler who lost a big bet. In Infernal, we see emotional attachment between 2 characters. And Tong Leung's eye was a gem.

      @@shaikohthe scene itself was kinda bad but Leung saved it with his eyes, his reaction is the only highlight. The music itself was a bit much and Asian films in general need to chill out with that and let the scene ride on its own weight. The Departed is also too much in it's own way with excessive cussing and immediately into the action, almost zero time to actually give the scene weight. Both scene were pretty meh and very unnatural for what they were wanting to show.

    This was one of the best scenes of IA and when I saw it in the Departed I was sooo pissed, haha. It had none of the emotional weight it had in IA - I felt the surprise, the grief, the numbness, the feeling like you're a goner, your entire life is lost even though you are actually managing to survive physically. I much more preferred it to be shown from the subjective point of view. I don't dig the cheesiness - I think those flashbacks are awful - but it was kind of an aesthetic choice, popular at that time, I suppose. So I simply ignore it and focus on Tony's performance in that very scene which was superb

  • @ididntmeantoshootthatvietn5012

    I’ve never watched Internal Affairs, but based off this scene. I think I prefer The Departed. It’s more gritty and realistic as opposed to the more cinematic feel of IA. I like how in Departed he doesn’t really have time to take in his death, there’s a mix of sadness, confusion and anger, but he has to quickly move on. I definitely have to watch IA, maybe once I see the whole movie I’ll like it more.
